Net-zero in road transportation: Is the exclusive focus on eletric vehicles wrong?

I've noticed a couple of articles in my newsfeed the last few days that suggest some big manufacturers are ditching electric and focusing on hydrogen powered vehicles instead.

It's been in the making for a while. Manufacturers have been forced by governments down the electric road but consumers are pushing back and ultimately its them that pays the bills not the governments. There is going to be some major changes in the next year or two on the legislation because what's there now is not compatible with what the consumer wants to buy.
