Netflix

No you don't! Go back and look at the computer help thread that you posted in and where I explained to you what a DNS server is? You might be using a DNS that points you at a proxy server. Why not just point the PS3 at your PC and run your own proxy server connection instead of picking up dubious connections?
Yeah, I didn't disagree with you. Just said I changed my dns. Dunno what it was doing after.

Want to watch a new TV show on Netflix but I'm not sure what's good. Google searches on the matter have confused things somewhat too.

Shows I've really enjoyed from Netflix: Stargate Atlantis/SG1/Universe, Firefly, Sherlock, Chuck, Red Dwarf, Black Books and the occasional movie.

Shows I couldn't get into (at all): Breaking Bad,

I'm a very, very, very picky viewer. But any views on the matter? I'm very picky but I'm willing to give most a go.

You're weird.

I get UK TV - for example BBC iPlayer through the PS3 by running a little proxy app and then the PC running a proxy app. It thinks that I'm in the UK. DNS server is neither here nor there, there is no need to change it to anything other than your ISPs DNS servers, which your router should know anyway.

Yup, sure am. Weird, picky, insane, fussy, boring and still looking for a TV show. Thanks for the input though.
Ha. Fair comeback. I can't recommend a show on Netflix as I don't have it but I can recommend Justified, Deadwood, The Bridge, Sons of Anarchy. I have no idea if they are on Netflix but I hear Orange is the New Black is supposed to be good and it's on there.

Just unlocked Netflix on my android and had a look at the US library over the weekend.

feck me, the difference in amount of stuff to watch is staggering. I was looking for anything watchable, now I have a list of things to watch next. Starting with Sherlock.

Quick question about accessing US Netflix in the UK.

If you access Netflix via multiple devices, and you change the DNS settings on one of them to access US Netflix, but dont change the others, will that cause any problems?

So for example if I change the settings so I can see US Netflix via the PS3 but UK Netflix via my phone or media player, will that create any problems?

Nope.

I use Hola to get the US library on my tablet and watch the UK library on my computer, sometimes simultaneously. The only thing that changes is the recently viewed stuff, shows you're watching on the US version will only show on your UK recents if they're available to both regions.

Thank you, that is good news.

Also, I dont suppose True Detective is on US Netflix yet is it?

Is the US library mainly better for films or does it have a lot of other serieses as well?
HBO don't distribute to netflix as they see them as a competitor, so it won't ever be on it.

And good quality? Passable, I mean. Doesnt have to be HD or anything, just not constantly buffering and very pixelated.
Yep. For newer films HD is an option. You get to choose different qualities.

Can you do a search for stargate and see what comes up?

If it's got SG-1, Atlantis and Universe this is a no brainer. I'd be able to watch the whole thing in the right order.
Here's what popped up when I typed "Stargate" in TV shows. I assume all 3 are on it?

Anyone looking for an alternative who has android try downloading Showbox....its excellent

That's an amazing app. Literally the best thing since sliced bread.

I've ordered an hdmi adapter for my phone so I can plug it straight into the TV. Don't even have to wait for a download anymore.

The DNS codes that I was using on my PS3 for US Netflix seem to have stopped working. Couldn't even sign into PSN until I used the auto DNS settings.

Does anyone know where to get working codes?

Mine have too, and when I did some digging it seems it's pretty common. I'm sure there are ways of getting it back (there always are) but I believe it's a conscious crack down.

Since I've been back on the UK one though i've noticed a lot of stuff I never knew it had. Die Hard with A Vengeance is on there. As is Bill & Ted. BIG SHIT! I've decided the best way to find things is to search through the letters, and often the actors the come up as suggestions when you do that. The way Netflix is arranged to promote the same selection of films for you is really weird and unhelpful.

Netflix is brilliant in just about every way but the one place it falls down is in its navigation and menus, which is completely rubbish. Its slightly less awful on my phone so I tend to find what I want on there, play the first couple of seconds of it and then load it up via the media player so it is there as a recently watched item. Browsing direct on the media player is seriously hit and miss and searching for something specific is a nightmare. God knows why they cocked it up so badly.
