It has always surprised me that we haven't played on being the Red Devils more, not just having Fred the Red frolicing on the touchline, not exactly intimidating.

Well you'd have to ask them as I can't know what's on other people's minds, but in the case of the post that sparked this conversation. It seems they want the stadium to be focused around football and not turn into Tourist trap that's as much about eating, shopping etc as it is football.

I mean design definitely split opinions, am looking at it the 2nd day and am more on the side not liking it as it just doesn't scream Man Utd along with looking a bit weird and too extravagant for my taste.. talking about exterior, one pic from the air and on the side looks very nice though. In any case, it's not just English fans, tried to search bit for Juventus, Barcelona or Real Madrid fans opinions and they all lean more to not liking it. Which is again not important because you can truly judge the stadium by how it will look once it is finished. Also, how iconic and great it will become, will be decided by the players, games played inside and atmosphere.
But am sure as hell gonna miss Old Trafford. Am aware it's best for the club financially to move but am really loving that place. Will be a sad day when we move on.. Hoping to see it few more times if I do have a chance. Don't care even if we remain shit as we are.

But moving in has not made them better has it? Has it made Arsenal better? As I said a thousand posts ago, didn't Arsenal explicitly blame the building of a new stadium for them not being able to keep hold of their best players?
Let's all be honest here, this new ground and "regeneration" project is going to benefit a few rich people and make them even richer. Its impact on the average person is gonna be forcing them to dig a bit deeper into their wallets to watch this circus.
My take is that the majority of football fans couldn't tell you what the outside of any stadium looks like really apart from their main venue to they go to matches at.
I'm much more concerned with the inside and how it looks/feels actually attending than I am some outside pictures.
Each to their own, seems a strange thing to worry about to me.
This again. Our prices went up massively years ago and have probably levelled out in comparison with other teams or where they should be at.
I find it fecking bizarre how people on here are so accepting of having to pay more. The club makes an insane amount of money already.

True, true.. we however decided to make something unique and extravagant in certain way so it is interesting to see opinions.
But I fully agree with you, how this stadium will feel and how much it will grow on the fans will be decided by the feeling inside and not tent/trident design we are debating atm. So far, I've been encouraged by the pics from inside the ground as it seems they kept the stands close to the pitch.

I can imagine if you're a local and/or a regular at OT. You might be ok with the idea of a new stadium but you want to carry on a similar more traditional match day experience without the ground turning into something resembling a Disneyland style trouist trap.
Personally I'm not a regular these days so don't have as much of a dog in the fight. But I can understand why some might have reservations, football and Manchester United should remain the focus.

Currently we can sell out Old Trafford as it’s a historical old ground that’s on peoples bucket list to visit and that will always be the case.
As soon as the new stadium fad passes and we are no doubt still performing like crap on the pitch and ticket prices astronomically high, the tourists will stop flocking and the true test is the League cup games on a Tuesday night against Charlton Athletic, when the top tiers are shut or we are doing 2 for 1 deals, which will make the club look incredibly naff.
My opinion only of course. But I lean towards more cons than pros with this new concept.
New stadiums should be about football. Not a Disneyland Paris like experience for casuals.

Fortresses are created on the pitch … but hostile venue “can” be created off of it …. But let’s be honest, when is the last time OT was a hostile venue for away teams? It can be a superb atmosphere at times … but hostile?
If we become hard to beat again and have the noise of 100,000 fans (or at least a large portion), we can still make it tough place to go … we don’t need Liverpool style hanging from lampposts and thrown bricks.

I think it looks absolutely superb.
The tent looks horrendous but I’m sure the design will evolve around the concept of an outdoor space with a catenary or tensile cover supported by a trident and will hopefully become more contextual and less indulgent.
Love the circus tent design, very fitting for the clowns that run the place
