I was thinking more of a random draft where another manager make a pick for you. For example in R1 you pick for the player below you and in R2 the player below picks for you (with draft manager making the end picks). The pool for this would be the 1 player each from RedCafe GOAT lists. After 5 rounds, it will be a open snake.

We can add some additional self picked limitations to keep this GOAT free.

There's a element of challenge in building around the players other picked for you. Plus no research needed.

I have an idea for a simplified version of my Managers and Players draft idea from a few years back that didn't get enough participants. This version would keep the two different drafts of managers and players with two matches being played every round with the result being determined by aggregate. However instead of the Managers squad being chosen first and determining the pool of available players for the Players squad, a simpler method of every round drafting a manager for the Managers squad and a player that played under that manager for the Players squad. I'd also bn combo's based on international management for the 1st round of selections in order to prevent the overpowered Maradona-Messi combo

Proposed Rules
1. Each round a participant selects a manager for their Manager's squad and any player that played under the manager chosen in that round for their Player's squad
2. Playing under a manager is defined as at club level playing for the same club in the same season that the manager managed that club. For international level it is defined as either playing in a match under that manager or being in a major tournament squad under that manager. Caretaker/Interim Managers, Co-managers and player-managers count.
3. For the first round of selections only, only club management connections can be used
4. The two draft pools are considered separate so a player that has been selected in the manager's draft can also be selected by the same drafter or a different drafter in the player's draft. However each player can only be selected once in the managers draft and once in the players draft.
5. 8 hours per selection. If you take longer, the next team can go and you can make your selection at any time.
6. The initial draft will have 12 players selected for each squad with 2 additional players being selected for the squad in each reinforcement round.
7. Each match will consist of two games one between the managers XI's and one between the players XI's with advancement being determined by aggregate votes between the two games. Draws will be determined randomly

How does this work? 2 different versions of same player against each other?

They'll never directly play against each other as the managers team will only face other Manager teams and the Players team will only face other Players teams.

I am up for something if it starts soon, have exam period starting in like 3 weeks so research period has to be before that is over
 
How about a an all time draft but you can only have two players in your starting XI who are born in any one decade? This way you need to incorporate old and newer players.
