Please no. The only way its even remotely palatable is if he his bought alongside another striker - a young one with loads of potential but also ready for plenty of matches. Eg Ferguson. But no, we'd be stuck with him when he's a 33 year old permacrock on huge wages and sulking through every season.

Really doubt it, given he's a LW or a #10, and has injury issues.

But, he is a world class player, one of the best in the world when fit, and he's a hard worker on the pitch (total myth that he doesn't do his bit defensively). Doesn't make sense squad building wise ultimately. Bruno as a deep CM full time and Neymar as a 10 is the only thing I could see if we did it. But I doubt it. BUT - loan with reduced wages while we are getting fecked over with the ownership situation is a pretty damn good bandaid.

Neymar and Højlund this summer with Tony and Weghorst out. Would we take that?

He's not for me. He wasn't really in his better years, but an injury prone diva that is accustomed to living life on easy street at PSG and then comes into the PL in our side doesn't look good. Even on loan there must be better ways to use funds.

Ideally was fine with the club being passed signing 30+ year olds but feck me this might be the last exception if it can be a loan

The football romantic in me thinks it would be absolutely box office having Neymar in the PL especially if he's rocking it up at the Theatre.

He would add a big injection of quality and creativity to our attack and I feel he'd fit in well especially with our growing Brazilian contingent.

I really really really hope this is rubbish. If we sign him, we deserve nothing as clearly we have learnt nothing.

But it has to be rubbish. Surely. We cannot seriously think about this.

I’d be fascinated to see how he’d perform in the PL

But if he comes, it feels like more of a Boehly signing

Haha I’m not getting into this. My hopes and dreams regarding signings have been squashed enough.

If he's cheap obviously he can be class on his day. But for anything other than a cheap price (which he obviously wont be) this makes no sense, given how often he'll be available.

Falcao, Schweinsteiger, Zlatan, Sanchez, Cavani, Ronaldo. Not the most inspiring list of potentially busted talents we’ve picked up in the last decade. Got some good moments out of Zlatan, Cavani, and Ronaldo I suppose, but nothing that could ever contribute to anything long-term. Somebody convince me why Neymar would be significantly different?

Only makes sense if he’s on a loan so funds are concentrated in another striker

What's more fragile than glass? Because saying he's made of glass would be a compliment.

He has had years and years of being allowed to coast every week against the dregs of Ligue 1. He, quite literally, wouldn't be able to do it on a cold Tuesday night in Burnley. He would buckle under the intensity within 2 months.
So was Varane. I trust ETh to get him on the same training schedule.

Damn, can't stand the guy as he has cnut vibes. But him, Bruno and Antony in our team... I can only imagine the opppo fans losing their minds next season, and it will be glorious.

Anyone old enough to remember the good old Keane, Stam days?

I purely want this to happen, so we can line up with Bruno, Antony and him. It would make it worth it to see the sheer shithousery that those 3 could come up. Just remember what Lingard did to Arsenal fans. Neymar's impact would make Lingard's pale in comparison with the amount of heads that would explode.

On a serious note, where would he play? We have Rashford and Garnacho.

Edit: Damn you @ArmaDino

The only thing that excites me about this possible deal is the fact there’s the obvious Qatari connection, which hopefully means there’s something going on behind the scenes with sheikh Jassim. Probably not though and in typical Utd fashion we just want to throw money at a big name at the latter stages of his career to boost commercial values.

That's being kind to Neymar. At least Boehly's useless scattergun approach has gone after players under 30 who can play more than 15 games a season.

Honestly cannot stand him, don't know why anyone would want him anywhere near our club.

He's a 10. He'd play off Weghorst :wenger:
More in terms of just getting some goalscorers in the team, but yeah I hear ya . Still for a loan I think it would easily be worth it. Some people are way too negative on him in here. Even this season he's got 20 goals and 14 assists in 32 overall appearances (club and country). If I'm counted as a moron for wanting someone who averages over 1 G/A per game on a loan, then fine I'll be a moron.

Because he is on loan with subsidized wages with no obligation to buy? Unlike those listed only Falcao falls under this category and even he was plagued by injuries more than anything.

The tempting part is based on his ridiculous talent but everything else is major red flags. One of my favourite players to watch but also one who seemingly can destroy any team cohesion and chemistry on his own.

Given Varane has only started about 55% of our league games this season, I'm not sure that comparison is as reassuring as your tone suggests.

Honestly for a loan I'd do it but I'm a shameless muppet. Forca Brasiuw!
