Nottingham Forest | Cooper sacked, Nuno takes charge

I really want us to sign Garner but I think we’ve moved on. If you look at the comments you United fans are making - “he’s untried, good in the championship etc etc”. If we are to stay up then it’s crucial we have a number 8 / 6 able to compete in the prem so your comments to a lesser extent apply to us too. We currently have Frueler / O’Brien at 6 with Mangala / Yates at 8. There’s also 2 or 3 other such as the Palace lad who can cover.
Frueler is the player closest in style to Jimmy - he’s 30, Captained Atalanta and played Champs league. After watching him on Tuesday night, Jimmy is not getting a game before him. The upshot is, if Jimmy is moving to get game time, we probably could’t offer him as much as he’d want. Jimmy wanted to have time for a shot at United, we needed players through the door quickly to get a competitive side together. I will guarantee Cooper and Jimmy will have spoken + we tend to do our transfers as quietly as possible so it may still happen but I think unlikely now.
Garner himself must feel quite miffed; if he’s moved on, and not to you guys in the PL, it’ll be quite a weird situation.

It feels like they’re bidding for everyone until someone accepts an offer.

Jaysus. Where are they getting all that cash? And how the hell are they complying with FFP?

Tbf their owner is one of the dodgiest feckers alive. Not that many owners have a “Drug trafficking” a “match fixing” and a “bombing” section on their wiki entries.

Amazing he passed any fit and proper tests

Edit: The bombing bit seems to have been removed since last week - the deets are about though

From a purely sentimental point of view, having Jimmy line up against us will be hard - the whole team are certified Forest legends after what they achieved last season. As I said, we started planning this season 6 months ago, including transfers. Coops and Jimmy will have had a conversation before the end of the season so everyone new what the permutations were. Likewise, we never went back in for Djed Spence as he told us he wanted to go to Spurs. Where ever he goes I wish him all the best and hope has a brilliant career.

No he’s not - Greek football is very political and allegations are thrown about maliciously. He’s successfully sued for the above allegations.

Why are Leicester not spending anything? Don’t they have any money?

@Forest Red How's Neco doing? I saw the West Ham game and thought he did well but not the Newcastle or Everton game
probably the best compliment I can pay him is “Djed who?” Fantastic passing range and a better end product then Spence but lacks the pace that allowed Spence to be get up and down which on a number of occasions has left Worrall exposed as RCB.

Better then Gareth Bale was at 21. He’ll go as far as he wants to go.
Bale at 21 was smashing a hattrick at San Siro in the CL against the defending European champs, thats huge praise. Johnson is a good player but he is well far off from Bale

Quite interesting Forest have signed none of the loan players that served them well in the run in last season, guess they were never going to get Spence once Spurs showed interest but Garner, Davis and Zinchangel all did well yet passed up.

Has a prem team ever signed 20 new player in a summer before? Could still get in another one or two before deadline as Aoaur has been stongly linked and Neal Mauapy link still floating about (although think he'll end up at Everton).

Would love someone have a go at what their first choice 11 will be in a months time.

Yes - seen it all when Marikanis took over back in 2016. As I said Greek Football is very political- As well as his interests in shipping he also owns media and has been involved in politics. Marikanis was targeted in an attempt to get him removed from Olympiakos by rival clubs and a previous greek Gov. Since his purchase of Olympiakos, in 2010 they have won the Greek title 7 times and are the most influential club in Greece. He has subsequently been cleared of all wrong doing and has successfully sued.

All we’ve done is get to a position where we have two prem quality players for each position and yes it’s taken a lot of new players. As per the Garner thread, Jimmy wanted his shot at the United first team, we needed players in quickly to get a competitive team together for the start of the season. Zincs was never really good enough and Gerrard priced Davies out of a move.

The first 11 will be.
Henderson
Worrall - Niakhate - McKenna
Williams - Frueler - Yates - Richards
Gibbs-White
Johnson - Awoniyi

He is a Muppet of the current prime minister's family, the richest and strongest family in Greece. He hasn't successfully sued the allegations. It is just that anyone who was captured in that ship has died "suddenly" while being in prison or even in Dubai, and the first 3 interrogators have abandoned the case and the second one even migrated to US due to fear for her life.

Yup, bingo. This is exactly what happened

I can’t remember too many examples of promoted clubs changing virtually their whole team in one transfer window and not getting relegated. The teams that tend to stay up are the ones with great team spirit and sticking with the majority of their promotion team.

I remember that Fulham a couple of years ago pulled in loads of big name signings but went straight back down and were then lumbered with players on big wages that didn’t want to play for them in the championship! It’s a risk what Forest are doing- that’s for sure!

Not really - they're in a better position to spend than a lot of clubs in the league, but are choosing not to because they're being overly cautious about balancing the books.

They also have an inflated squad and can't get rid of some of the players they're trying to shift like Vestergaard, Praet and Soumare. And are trying to tie down the likes of Maddison and Tielemans to long-term deals that will obviously involve big pay rises.

Thats because last summer they spent without selling. Its not really being overly cautious per say.

The issue isn't debt it's their lack of compliance with UEFA FFP.

They have players like the 3 I mentioned on £75k+ a week who aren't playing that need shifting before they think about getting anyone in. This is also the reason they let Schmeichel leave for a pittance because he was on £130k a week and they have a ready-made replacement in Danny Ward who's on a fraction of that.

Combined this with them trying to tie down their best players to longer term deals which is going to increase wages and they simply can't afford to add to their wage bill as things stand, if they qualify for Europe they'll end up getting booted out based on the current numbers which would be a total disaster.

So in other words they don’t have the money

So in other words they don’t have the money

Well it's a very simplistic way of describing it, isn't it? They don't have any money in the same way that most PL clubs don't have any money, most of them are in debt and spending beyond their means as it is.

Leicester could 100% continue to do the same if they wanted to. If they were truly in need of money they wouldn't be holding out for a world-record fee for Fofana, or sticking to their valuation of Tielemans who can leave for nothing in 10 months.

This reminds me of Fulham when they signed Seri, Anguissa and Mitro amongst others. Didn't end well.

They have an issue with FFP because their expenditure outweighs their revenue disproportionately according to FFP rules.

Debt is not the only reason you may not have the money for transfers. The point being they cannot spend at the moment, not until they sell.

The explanation for that isn’t relevant and they are certainly not in a better position that most in the league.

On Fofana, they didn’t want to sell him this summer, he just signed a deal in March so yes they are going to hold out for the fee they want. They didn’t want to sell him in the first place.

People will believe what they want to - to offer balance - this is from a Greek guy on our forum -
“The new inquiry officially begun based on a deposition of the convicted transporter of the drug load, given on January 25, 2017. His deposition was the result of a visit by the prosecutor, orchestrated by the vice-president of the government (these are not allegations, they have both admitted that this was the case), on January 17. On the very same night, eight days before the deposition, a tv show announced the new inquiry and the content of the deposition -which was only given eight days later...

Months later, the same convict who implicated EM gave an interview where he claimed that his deposition was the product of pressure and blackmail by an officer of the port authorities, who allegedly ordered him, implying that the orders came from high up, to implicate Marinakis on the drug affair. The convict filed charges against the officer, and the prosecutor, and the whole affair was investigated by the Parliament, which conveniently decided not to press charges on the VP for meddling with justice.”

That transporter has changed his deposition 3 times. I wonder how he is still alive and now out of jail, while the others are either dead or in jail..

Poor Lingz. Eternal bench warmer these days.

I was impressed by what I saw of Mangala for Stuttgart so think he could be a starter in that team posted above. If you actually sign Regullion from Spurs on loan he'll be in there aswell.

Was always surprised you never went to get Jamal Lascelles back given he was captain of Newcastle for a few seasons before Howe came in so would fit what you're looking for currently.

Shouldn't have been allowed to buy a Prem club, really. Seems like a horrible cnut. Hope they get relegated.

This sounds like a Chelsea fan defending Abramovich, not gonna lie.

feels like you’re giving him far too much credit because he’s your owner which I understand slightly but is a bit naive of you.
