For all of Ten Hag's faults, keep in mind that this is a manager who is more than happy to start Garnacho and Mainoo so I'd give him some leeway on that front.

I don’t know how much you’ve seen of him but there is a talented player there, he isn’t as physically strong as Garnacho or Mainoo which probably makes it a bit more difficult to play him from the start.

I don't agree with that either, but I do think that there is a sensible middle ground that can be reached. It's a lot of pressure and expectation to put on younger players. I was dubious and cautious about doing this with Mainoo before he first got a run of games, but he has lived up to the hype. I just think it's better to 'rate' players when they've actually had a run of games first.
