For all of you even contemplating the idea, forget it, it will never happen.

Of all the possible Keane replacements out there, this one is that is the most "pie in the sky". Think of the agro Figo->Real Madrid caused, and multpy it by 100, and you might be getting close. There would be riots on the streets of Liverpool.

Forget it.

Weaste..Sorry for moving away from this topic but you are ducking my question.Whats wrong with playing Scholes from the Central Midfield? He is a better distributor and can attack better than both Vieira and Gerrard. He cannot tackle but he can certainly defend. If we partner him with a good DM who can sit deep and defend we don't have to to look for some one like Gerrard.

I feel its not advisable to empty our funds on another Central Midfielder.
If Fergie was looking for a box to box player as Keane's replacement we could've gone for Parker instead of opting for some one like Kleberson.

Totally agree Weaste. This is the silliest of the all the silly ideas abounding.

First and foremost, Pool would never, ever sell him to us.

The player has said in the past that the one club he'd never go to is United.

The other thing is, he wouldn't be the same player for us. I'm sure he's enough of a pro to try hard for whatever club he's playing for, but the fact is that desire to make one more seemingly fruitless run, one more painful challenge, to give 100% to get to an impossible ball, would just not be there playing for a team he's grown up hating.

How is that possible for a MF player that who can not tackle is able to defend? Scholes is great as a withdrawn Sticker he is not good as an attacking MF no ball distribution , no long range passing, no ball holding and no tackling what so ever

Scholes cannot tackle but he is good in reverting back and intercepting.
Even Roberto Carlos cannot tackle but he is one of the best defensive player from his playing position.

As a withdrawn striker Scholes is a liablity because if plays that role he
would be in long periods without getting anywhere near the ball.Unlike specialists like Bergkamp he gets lost - as he is a more busier player. He is good in the role if an engine like Keane pushes him from behind or a
playmaker to run the midfield and keep him busy.

From the central midfield Scholes can effectively combine his late runs and goal scoring abilities are used to the maximum extent.

Ok he might cost some where between 15-19 million but why should we go for another Keane like player as we can get players who can defend like Keane-for a more cheaper price and Scholes who can attack better than Keane.

We don't have a replacement for Keane.

That position is the most important one we had to fill this summer.

Davids or Baraja will do fine thank you.

With the exception of Barcelona and Valencia how many top teams in Eroupe have a Keane like player?...Without a great distributor many teams are sucessfull in Eroupe as well as in their domestic leagues.

Even if we get a new 20 million pound player like a Baraja or a Davids who can match Keane in abilities -for drive and commitment there is only one Roy Keane.

how long have you been watching scholes play? you must be talking about some other scholes cus it defnitly not the one at united.

he's got great ball distribution, good long ball (no beckham but not far from him), he's good at holding the ball in midfield. ok he can't tackle but that's why keano is there.

IMO i think scholes is much better when playing alongside keano, he can penetrate the game more. scholes is th best attacking midfielder, well in centre midfield, in the WORLD!

if you don't agree tell me someone better who plays attacking CM!

Did you see him close down Grionkjear at the weekend, he did a rubish job and let him have alot of space for the goal.

As for bobby carlos he has both pace and power to aid him, he can get away with alot because of it.

There was only one Robson and there was only one Ince and now there is only one Keane, these players are out there all we have to do is find one and then sign him, and for me Baraja is that man.

Scholes had his best ever season for us playing mostly behind Ruud. Him and Ruud were playing really well together and it was th eonly year in the past 3 where we have won the title. I wouldnt call it a coincidence. Whether Scholes is best there is not worth arguing because he is great in both positions.

What matters is he is however by far the best player we have in that role, Giggs cant do it at all, dont know why fergie bothers

Well on talkshite now they're saying Scholes should loose his position in the ingurland squad because the likes of Lampard and Gerrard have been playing better. Fair comment?
An Irish arsenal fan on now, and we are glory supporters

Cloud fecking cukoo land mate!

Figo to Madrid, Real Madrid payed the get out clause, doesn't exist in English football.

Campbell Arsenal, it was a Bosman free!

Rio to United, they were in the financial muck, but it still cost, but they were in the shit!

You think with a new massive investment into Scousered club they are going to sell to us, a player that would loath playing for us? Would we sell Ruud to the scousers, or Scholes? It's about as likely as Gary Neville is to agree to pull on a Liverpool shirt.

Get fecking real!

Centre of the park next season will be Scholes and Miller - get used to it.

Of course Gerrard won't be at OT - particularly as the Thieves now have 60 mil quids worth of Thai Bhat in their bank account.

SAF will in my view be bringing in a "link man" such as Rooney which will free up Scoles to CM. Not exactly new territory for the Ginger Prince really - and the position that he is supposed to prefer.

As far as Miller is concerned, I have heard he is the dogs bollox provided he can stay off the treatment table. If he doesn't make it - it looks like Fletcher or the Djemba twins alongside Scholes.

Miller IMO is no better than Fletch. It doesn't say much.

Why is Keane going back to the RI squad?

You're joking. Try playing those 2 in CM and you won't be competing with the Red Scousers for 3rd place but with the Blue ones for about 11th.

My father over here on his hols has seen Miller play a few times and rates him. I also read some flattering reviews of his latest performance for RI.
Fletcher is 3 years younger with time on his side. Of all the young sters I believe he will make it and his future is in CM. At the momemt though, as with the likes of Bellion and the Djemba twins he doesn't quite make a convincing case for inclusion in what should be one of the best teams in the world.

Keane is going back to the RI squad because I guess he fancies it!
He wouldn't let's face it just walk into most European squads these days - for example he would be behind the likes of Gerrard, Parker, Lampard and Beckham if he were English.
His ability to walk into the RI squad says more about the lack of quality in that particular midfield than anything else.

I agree with you, totally.

I'm being assaulted in another thread by the way for sticking up for him, and still wanting him to be a United player.
