I support him and still am. I do hope we sign new and good players as its important not only for the hectic schedule ahead but to have a decent back up players.

But, if it is not happening then he has to change formation, the way he sets his team up so he can fully take advantage of the midfielders that he has. What the point of playing James when you leave VDB out?

Sir Alex needed Carlos Queiroz to add more tactical aspects and formation flexibility when he realized and wanted to compete in CL.

Ole has been using ineffective 2 CM double pivot in his 4231(especially when Pogba on the right) and there's no sign he stops it. Fred and Tommy can play like that as they showed but they are not first choices. I hope he changes it to begin with because It decides whether he still is Manchester United manager.

Let’s see where Gomes is in 5 years. My bet is nowhere. If he makes it, then good on him, but he clearly wasn’t ready to play for Utd.

As another poster pointed out, we actually had the lowest average age of any other club in the PL last season. He’s promoted Williams and Greenwood. Henderson is an academy player, Tuanzebe was set to be a first team player last season if it wasn’t for injuries. Chong made a good number of appearances that led to (hopefully) a good loan move.

Seems a strange way to bash the manager. We were playing against a PL team away from home, and squad players that we will need this season need to have games under their belt.

Well, I see your point but I don't agree. He has said, numerous times, that we are giving youth a chance. As have Woodward. Then he plays James, Pereira etc. Maybe Gomes isn't going to be good enough, but we know that Pereira isn't either.

I think you are misunderstanding why some of the players played. City gave debuts yes, so? they still had Sterling, Walker, Laporte, Fernandinho, KDB, Mahrez playing.

You can say play Mengi but you also have to look at the bigger picture? playing Mengi will have 0 benefit to the club at the moment. We need to give Bailly game time so he can prove he can be first team, Ole wants to see how a Maguire Bailly partnership could look like. They also need minutes, match sharpness.

Also, Laird has just come back from injury, there is no chance he is even ready to play.

Well, you don't just hand out starts to players willy nilly, Greenwood, Chong, Williams, Tuanzebe have all got opportunities under Ole.
This man just said everything you need to read.

I would not be surprised if we end up like Spurs last season...the board has failed Ole .. he is a lame duck..

What is he achieving?

On another note, where is his youth investment? The only one who played or was subbed on who can be considered to be youth was Brandon Williams, and that's mainly because he hasn't got another left-back. Wasn't he supposed to give youth a chance, build around youth? Ighalo, Lingard, James, Mata....
Been told?

Yeah giving youth a chance means playing young player from academy every game, even better if it's a new player so that we will have lot of debuts.

I don't know what's worse; our board doesn't feel like investment is that big a priority, or they're just incompetent at handling transfers.

This will be the most disappointing summer I can remember if we don't get anyone else in. I'm not saying we need to spend £120m on Sancho to take a step up, but we badly needed more options this season, any form of upgrades on what we have now. Ole must be pulling his hair out.

The irony of claiming that Williams was the only youth player and only played because we don't have another left back, and then using Pep fecking Guardiola as an example of a youth promoter, who started with a grand total of one youth player, and that solely because he didn't have Gundogan, Aguero or Jesus available. Some posters are just full of shit.

Agreed. Good post

Pep hasn't said that he is going to make a youth investment or play youth players all the time. Ole and Woodwards say it all the time. Yet, Pep is using more new faces this season despite having a much better squad. Now that's irony.

Playing youth means in every game there should be young academy player who makes debut

Exactly and good post.

Whens the presser this week, do Utd throw Ole under the bus with making him do another cringy "happy with the squad" message. I'm no fan of Mourinho but at least he didn't put up with that crap albeit he went about it the wrong way.

If Poch becomes ManUtd manager, will you be "Poch in" or "Poch Out"?
Of course, I'll support the manager until a point that he is demonstrably and quantitatively harming the club.

In my United friends chat group I was very vocally campaigning for us to NOT hire Mou when the rumors started. Felt he was a wrong fit for us and always found him obnoxious at other clubs.

The minute he signed I was behind him 100% to the day he was fired. But I am also very glad he's gone.
If I knew they were willing to give Ole a chance I would have wanted him out earlier. Been hoping for Ole and saw him as our future manager ever since he was managing our U23 team. Always been a fan of his football brain and personality.

When Ole is no longer at the club I will be 100% behind the new manager. But I hope it's when he retires in 25 years after winning us multiple trophies. :D

I actually think that Ole would make a great DOF. The players he has signed and the way he is getting rid of the crap is really impressive. I just wonder at his tactical awareness. We could then use Carrick and Mac as joint Coaches

So you think Ole is subpar in terms of tactical awareness but would be ok to have his assistants as co-managers? You think they do not influence him tactically or just plain don't like Ole as a manager and just want him gone?

I don't want him gone. He has a role at United. Given the players we have at our disposal ( I accept we have little strength in depth) I think we could do better

Let's not get ahead of ourselves on Ole's signings just yet, only Fernandes has been a undoubted success.

Why then do you think it would be a good idea to give the job to Carrick and McKenna?

Also, what makes you say we could do better?

What are we not doing well?

Who could do it better?

Why?

Why then do you think it would be a good idea to give the job to Carrick and McKenna? From what I have read the players seems to have a lot of respect for them
and MAc did a great job with the youngers age teams
Also, what makes you say we could do better? Given the players we have. There not not many better forward lines than Greenwood, Martial and Rashford, not many better midfields than Matic, Pogba and Bruno. In defense both Shaw and AWB are good defenders (admittedly not great going forward), But Both Maguire and Lindelof are good enough

What are we not doing well? Using the ability we have to the best ability

Who could do it better? That's the million dollar question

Why? Why what?

He said, after the season had barely started.

You lot are incredible.

This much better squad is riddled with injuries. Pep's been forced to play youth. Once he has his player's fit these lads won't get a look-in.

This is what he said last week before the Bournemouth game. He's basically saying here he has to play the kids and if they get knocked out then so be it. Hardly a ringing endorsement of youth.

"All we want is the seven players that are out to come back. Now we have a competition that we cannot spend the energy that we spent today, before Leicester, so we're going to play mostly academy players and try to keep the energy for the Premier League. With this lack of preparation and seven players out and not coming back soon, we have to keep the players from today as safe as possible. We will see how many are available, how they recover. We have just three days. We won the Carabao Cup three times in a row and we would like to continue but we don't have the players in this period to play every three days."

Whether you want Ole in the job or not - the lack of investment must surely limit people's expectations this season.

This squad can't play three games a week for the season and produce top level stuff. Not possible.

What would you like him to say?
Either, sorry were not signing someone. Or we are trying, we have our plans for certain players and we hope to get someone in but it has to be right for the club. Towing the club line leaves us all to mass speculate all for reputation sake.

I do get it though in fairness, he must be going mad. He has been very loyal to the club with his actions.

Solskjaer did very well with the reserves when he managed them and did great with Molde too. I don't get the point of McKenna being a better option.

Our front three did so well under Ole. Why are you ignoring that? Martial and Rashford were shadows of the players they are now under Mourinho.

I don't see the point in sacking a manager who is showing great positives and the players love him for an unknown just on the premise that we might be doing better.

Sacking Ole to give the job to McKenna or Carrick is worse. At least Ole has managed two clubs. If we sack him then we need to get a better manager/coach than him. I feel his biggest problems are actually McKenna and Carrick. He does not seem to be a guy who is going to ignore the advice of his coaches. So if we keep him it is better to get better and more experienced coaches than Carrick and McKenna.

I was thinking similarly but also feel that Ole is quite ruthless with rectifying issues he identifies. Obviously, I have no knowledge or understanding of the qualities and capabilities that Carrick and McKenna bring to his coaching team and cannot comment. I assume that since he's keeping them, he finds them useful. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes additions or changes to his staff as the season progresses.

I am not an Ole out for the sake of getting him out. I am not a fan of Poch or anything else like that. If Ole succeed at United I would be most happiest.
I am not a fan of any manager like Poch for president or Jose for President etc. I simply don't believe that Ole can take us forward especially when the Board is not giving him their full support. I get disappointed when our players don't give everything out on the pitch and Ole sits there.
I want a better manager at United and no matter who it is.
