It did take 5 season and to be fair I’d use the Klopp comparison as often as you can because it will soon be no use. Next season Ole will have to win the Champions League and get 97 points to match Klopp’s third full season.

Stranger things have happened but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Klopp did that in his 4th season. We still have time ;)

Depends if you count Klopp’s first season as a proper season given he joined after it had started. Same as Ole.

If you do it’s technically Ole’s 4th season in August as well by extension.

For me, the football is surely better than Jose’s and LVGs. Let’s hope he can prove you wrong. You wouldn’t mind that would you!

He’d have to start playing good football. I’m not sure if managers change their style! But no I’m done With him like fans are done with Martial.

When has 'we play better football than under LVG and Jose' become a reason to keep a manager?

Because it's backed by results.

Is it though? If we are purely talking results, one of those managers in Jose has won us trophies in his time, something Ole never has, whilst finishing on higher points than Ole ever has too.

LVG won an FA cup too and that wasn't enough, got him the sack.

We've slightly improved as a counter attacking unit but id argue just about all the tactical frailties that were there before Ole joined, are still prevalent

You had to throw martial in it didn’t you?
clearly we approach things differently. Let it be

We should talk about full seasons no? Anyway, it was just a joke mate.

I know it’s only a joke, that’s why I’m saying get mileage out of it while you can. But Klopp took 3 full seasons (his first he joined during season like Ole) to win the Champions League and get 97 points.

I am kind of annoyed now because his reign kind of sums up United in the last decade really. One step forward then two steps back ( ok maybe it's 1 &1 for him). Somehow we are never good enough to do anything big and yet we are never bad enough for him to lose his job . Sad part is that people talk about how we look forward to games more now but that's because of how shit some of the other managers were . This whole season there hasn't been one win in the league which was really worth getting giddy over which is so disappointing . Football is all about moments and we are getting no great moments at all . A whole lot of competing & being around but no real highs

Done with him? When did you ever give him a chance? Is there anyway we can be done with you? I hear Luton looking for fans! Anyway we can make a transfer?

We are never going to win the PL by being an only counter attacking team. That is what he said in his post match that we had a couple of good counter attacks and if we had scored from one of them we would have won the game and rightly so because if we score more goals than the opposition we win the match.
But it also showed his plans were only to counter attack.

Ole has been here for two seasons. Why can't we play thru the lines? Why cannot we play in a way to break the opposing lines of defence? Why do we have to use the pace of Rashford to score goals? Why can't we open up defences that sit back? Why can't we seem to score from corners and also defend from corners? Please don't say Lindelof and DeGea because they get picked by the manager.
Yes we are second but we also have got a lot of International class players in our side. A WC Winner and a midfield player who is on fire, England's CB, Sweden's CB, England left back, Portugal's left back, Scotland's midfield player, Brazilian International, Netherland's midfield player, Uruguay's CF, Spain's keeper, England's 2nd striker. Surely these players should be able to break down the defence of the bottom two clubs?

Yep, this is how I feel too. I'm really not sure what people are seeing. I'm seeing an okay coach, who has hit his ceiling. The Klopp comparison makes no sense to me either, with Klopp you could see that Liverpool team were on the cusp of something special, I just can't see that with us

I'm sure we'd all love to be wrong - for him to succeed, but I see nothing to suggest in a few years he won't just be another coach who couldn't cut it here. He's done well to stabilise the team and decent in regards to recruitment though, so that's always something to be thankful for

What exactly are the two steps back? If I remember correctly, we were placed 7th when he took over, and we have never been top 4 in two following seasons since Ferguson retired.

Even a Liverpool ex player acknowledging that we were not defensive or passive.

We were not passive at all yesterday, we won the ball so many times in the attacking half but we had no creativity at all . Apart from Cavani our strikers just can't play as 9's at all , everytime someone does something nice out wide you look up and there is no one doing anything in the box

The problem is that it's just an endless loop of wumming at this point. I mean, did you see the thread yesterday about fans that don't support Ole having a low IQ? What is the purpose of this kind of shite? It clearly just creates more conflict. I've said it before too: I'm fairly sure a-lot of the OTT's on both sides are far more rational in their opinions away from here. It's just they're now caught up in personal wummy battles and it causes extreme opinions.

Yeah for sure, its clearly the best I've felt about us post-Fergie. He'll be here next season and deservedly so. Expectations will rightfully increase by that point.
They won't, people want us to buy a defender better than Maguire, Grealish, Sancho, Halaand and a DM for expectations to change. Otherwise people will be happy with top 4 under Ole for a few years yet.

Have you seen my standards? I don’t think I qualify.

Maybe you do though.. I’m sure you’d make a great lower league fan. Don’t have to worry about things like the Prem title or Champions league... etc.

Yeah next season we are waiting to increase our standards once the board back him in the summer. I mean we all know he’s not getting full backing!!!!

So might aswell copy and paste that repose for this time next year.

Was a good piece of analysis that, something I obviously didn't pick up watching the game same as the rest of the armchair fans who claim he played for a draw, is a coward etc etc

Agreed.

The targeting of Fred and McTominay on here is utterly bizarre. They are two good players whose job is to be the hard-working engine in the middle of the pitch and they do it very well. They contribute defensively to help keep us tight at the back, but they also sprint forward and can get the ball into the feet of our frontline, and provide the basis of those quick transitions for when we break forward. Neither of them are prime Pirlo, but that's not their job and personally I think it's the strongest area of the pitch for us at the moment.
McTominay screwed up a pass when we were on the break yesterday against Chelsea in the latter part of the game. It was a simple cross field pass when we had 3 players near the box. We didn't create hardly any chances today. So because they are hard working they should play instead of Donny Van De Beek. We are not Newcastle

As I said before I don't think any manager will until we have better players than City. It's got nothing to do with what I think about Ole as a player. Current flavour of the month Nagelsman hasn't 'shown he can win the PL and CL' either so what's your point? Any other options or have you just decided one man can save us?

He's correctly leaving out VdB because he's been useless. Bailly is rash and unreliable and gets better in people's minds the more he doesn't play.
Ole is a manager that no top 10 side in the premier league would hire. I would argue not even bottom sides would touch him. Favoritism towards players, not making subs early enough and not playing on the front foot for a significant period. He has been here 2 and a half seasons and and he hasn't changed any of those things. Also who cares if Manchester City have spent slightly more. Spending more doesn't guarantee titles otherwise Liverpool or Leceister wouldn't win the premier league. Actually give me a valid reason why you think Ole has what it takes to win a premier league or champions league title.

If we are to challenge for titles we need more than players who can put in a decent shift over 90mins. Coming out of yesterday’s game and we’re talking about one winger who went missing for the 2nd half and the other who put in a hardworking performance is simply not good enough for the club, we are looking starting to sound like we are a Burnley with comments like he works hard for the team about half our team. City would have beaten Chelsea 3-0 yesterday based on what I watched.

You are right in this though I know that you are being sarcastic. Woodward runs the club. He hired Ole. Ole hired the coaching staff or did he not? He should tell Ole that this is not good enough. That he should be getting the team to play better and if his coaching staff cannot do it then get him to sack them and get better coaches.

Lets just be honest, he’s miles off it isn’t he. I know he’s a legend but come on, if we want to move forward we need to stop deluding ourselves & blindly hoping he’ll become a competent manager overnight. He’s not the only problem, but he is a problem, and he is holding us back. If we sacked him he would struggle to get a job in the Premier League, and it sure as shit wouldn’t be a top 10 club. Is he as terrible as his biggest detractors say? No. Does he have any business being United manager? feck no he doesn’t. He’s clearly not good enough, we’re 2nd in spite of him, not because of him. We all need to just start being honest about him.

Drawing away at Stamford bridge is a sackable offence  think people are gutted patterns of possession play Chelsea didn’t wipe the floor with us.

Be honest, you are wrong.

You're bloody awful.

Honestly I think Ole is good enough for Top Four and win domestic cups or Europa League Cup so he won't get sacked.
If you ask Liverpool or City fans I am sure they would be happy if Ole managing United as long as possible.

Lets just be honest, this is a bloody laughable take.

New coach, already implementing a clear style but we all knew prior to the game that they are still a bit out of sync in attack. This showed, yet they still had the better chances.
What clear style? Parking the bus in a home game vs a misfiring United?

If Chelsea was still managed by Lampard I'd agree but not under Tuchel whom are well organised and difficult to create and score goals against.

And let's not forget City's last two league games was against defensive organised teams West Ham, Arsenal and they won both by 1 goal margins.

I disagree. Liverpool a slight possibility but not fecking Manchester City. That's an absurd statement. Manchester City fans would demand they challenge for the premier league which is why Pep was brought in.

Don’t like that we didn’t get the pen, but I don’t also like the pussy tactics Ole chose against Chelsea. We had clear change to go after them and take the win. Just a question of attitude and little bit of risk. You just can’t be nice and hope.

Spot on but as long as you run like a headless chicken you‘re going to be in Ole‘s good books.

The way he waxed lyrical about Dan James after his game showed me how low his standards were.

Yeah absolutely. OGS should tell the press how shite DJ was and throw him under the bus for not scoring a hattrick. The standard of this club has fallen eh

Or he could chose to talk about something else.

This is the funniest line I've ever heard from Ole outers. So, let's assume this is true, you'd then have to accept that should we sack Ole and here a better manager, we'd be winning the quadruple quite easily, and also that no signings are required, because clearly the side is WC
