We all know how it worked out, people are willing to turn a blind eye to some obvious defects at the moment, but he’ll be thrown on the reject pile after a few bad results.
I can see the need for warm bodies in a position we’re weak in, and understand the clamour but I’d rather soldier through until the summer with what we’ve got if it means we have a bigger budget and don’t have to compromise.

he's the ideal type of wing back that Amorim wants in his team....and my god do we need some pace injected into this team
I do not remember AwB being either strong/physical or fast. And he had this habit of jogging even when we desperately needed him to sprint.
He looks like a nothing player. I don't know how you can watch him and want to throw away 30m when we are already struggling for money. He won't play better than Dalot, and he will be another player we struggle to find a club for in the near future.
If we don't have the money to sign a much better player, then we should have some patience and wait till the summer. Throwing money at rubbish because we are desperate is not the way to go.

Interesting to see that Garnacho isn't referenced in Whitwell tweet when talking about signing him, so maybe we would still bring in an inside 10 or striker.

There are plenty of videos available on him, boss. You can see if he's "rapid". I think his speed is average compare to PL players. He's only 20 y.o. though, so it will be another 2-3 yrs "project" while we're slumping in 14th and supposedly broke.
Personally think he should be a buy when we have an established team already, and allow him to develop as utility young player.

There are loads of 20 year olds across the league making positive contributions to their teams. The truth is Shaw can’t stay fit and so we barely have any options at LWB. Arguably Dalot shouldn’t even be getting used there and Malacia may even leave. If any injuries happen I don’t even know who would play.
Is this guy any better than Fernandez? We can literally get him for like 16m or something since we have a buy back clause.

It's not about "established" players. Dorgu was bought 400k just 1.5 yrs ago. So probably we should be taping players more thorough from lower Leagues, even from Championship like Gyokeres.
Dorgu is still young and probably will improve. But with that kind of money that Lecce wants, combined with United in League slump and broke, and what Dorgu can bring to the table now and immediate future; it seems like there's a mismatch.
But i get bored drumming similar posts already. It doesn't really matter what i think anyway. Club will do what they want to do.

One of his strongest points was his chasing back to put in a ridiculous slide tackle, it was one of the few things he was good at. Not to say he didn’t just give up and jog back on occasion when he didn’t think he’d make it or simply couldn’t be arsed. I’d say the comparison still holds true largely though. Basic footballer with some solid attributes.
I’m a bit contradictory on this though, I don’t think we need best in class in every position so probably shouldn’t be turning my nose up at Dorgu, who seems a decent young player. But his limitations seem like they will be an issue with what we’re expecting from a wing back. I just don’t think he’s right for us.

AwB was a 9 out of 10 on one on ones. Dorgu looks like a 5 out of 10. He looks better on the ball though.

Not saying they're flawless or anything, but compared to many other channels that don't actually perform any substantial analysis, I think their content is usually a lot more informative.

He doesn't really look any faster than Wan Bissaka when we signed him. Which isn't slow but certainly not rapid either. For rapid I'm thinking Davies, early days of Werner, 20 year old Rashford level.
On the offence he might be like Garnacho pace, but I don't think that's rapid..

Unless he's been caught fiddling with numbers or letting the actual analysis be impacted by personal bias etc., I still think the content has value. Though to be fair, I'm sure I remember seeing a video on Antony before he was bought by United, where he was pretty much raving about him. Can't find that video anymore. So yeah, no ones perfect.
We are always overpaying for potential. And not even the incredibly talented players. We usually pay big money for middling potential.

I’m still astounded at the rate that people have written him off, despite countless times a player looks good on video and there will be posts saying “yeah but anyone can look good on video, let’s wait and see how he performs for us” - & this guy is literally completely being written off as shite before he has kicked a ball.

Yeah Hannibal with his temper would be just what we need in a frustrated side losing every week. Red card every 5 games or something like that
I don't think €35-40 million euro would count as a hidden gem you refer to. I think purchases like Diego Leon are the hidden gems the fans can get on board with. I think most fans are just concerned that firstly it's a lot of money on potential and also from Dorgu's highlights, he appears to be limited in many obvious areas. Obviously I don't think many of us have watched enough of him to give a detailed synopsis of what he will offer. I think the fans are mostly concerned because when there is a lot of money being mentioned, we want those transfers to immediately help the team and it's hard to tell if Dorgu will do that.
