There is alot of people on here saying that Dybala is not what we need or that there is other positions that are a priority.

We absolutely need attacking players. Players that are better than Lukaku or Sanchez.! Rashord and Martial aren't exactly pulling up trees either and when a player like Dybala who plays as a second striker or #10, a position that we are playing Lukaku or Lingard in alongside Rashord!! and apparently Dybala isn't what we need? Madness.

Regarding the signing of 'priority' positions first, who is to say that we are not already in talks for a CB or a CM? Dybala might be gettable right now, and if he is we should be prioritising that. We probably know the names of the players that Ole and his staff want and are making moves to make them happen. Dybala wouldn't just improve us, he would be our best attacker.

And an attacker with something to prove as well - people wrote him off after Ronaldo joined and his form dropped off. He might join us with a point to prove, and that he should be leading the line for Argentina in 2022, where he would be 28 and in his prime.

Its absolutely pivotal that we sign hungry players. No point signing Di Maria type players who never wanted to be here in the first place or that their 1st and 2nd choice clubs never came in for them, so settled for us as we pay well.

His ability should not be in question, so not sure why people say hes not for us. If he's hungry and wants to prove himself once again as you said, then get that boy in now.

Couldn't agree more, I don't think Ole should use the 4-3-3 formation next season but instead bring Dybala in and use him as a second striker alongside Rashford (who isn't good enough yet but hopefully Dybala will help improve this). Could work. The only reason he hasn't been at his best this season is purely because of Ronaldo's transfer, look at Benzema now compared to when CR7 was there, same effect with Dybala. Class player that we need as long as he's willing to give his all each game which I do believe he would, he isn't exactly a Pogba who would dance around all game.

His ability to hold up the ball is also better than what he have currently. His close control in tight spaces and lower centre of gravity means he is able to shield the ball and bring others into play like how Aguero does. Will also be our best finisher too. We will be a danger from set pieces again if he joins together with Fernandes, with one left-footer and one right-footer.
Hence, if he joins, I think he will be our best option upfront in a 433, and Lukaku will most likely join Conte in Serie A.

My thoughts is he would play next to Rashford in a 2 or in the current Lingard role. Lingard plays almost as a free role attacker. The broadcasters show the lineup as

    Martial - Rashford - Lingard

But as we know Ole plays a diamond with 2 forwards who give the width when needed. Dybala is versatile and could play in any of the 3 forward positions.

Dybala in the #10 could even have us lining up like this for when we need pace to get In behind the oppo defence.

    Martial ----- Rashford
    ---------Dybala

That could be possible. If Fernandes joins as well, then I will drop him back into CM with Pogba and a DM, especially against teams who like to sit deep and defend for their lives, which have struggled with a lot in recent years.

The problem with the Dybala transfer would only be if signing him meant we still start games with dead wood next season because of the money we end up spending on him. Dybala is a really good player and is still developing his game. If we can get Dybala and on top of that improve our main areas of weakness like CB, RB, CM, ST and RW then there should be no reason why we shouldn't go for it.

I hope non of Rashford or Martial will be in the starting XI which might be a bit unrealistic. But seeing both in a line up really is too much.

If we play diamond formation next season. Would you prefer Dybala next to Rashford or as a No.10?

Hopefully we won't need to spunk 100m on him. I think a price like 70m is fair enough for all parties, given that Juve seems to want to sell him. Hopefully we can recoup some of that through a Lukaku sale to Serie A. We should have a sizeable transfer kitty too, given that we spent almost nothing over the past year. I don't think we will be going for a RW, or Ole may just get James to be our RW in certain situations.

Next to Rashford, both playing as split strikers, pulling wide to create space for Fernandes (if he joins), Pogba and McTominay (who I think is quite good offensively) to attack.

Martial has been on the wing for us for years even though he was signed as a striker by LVG.

Playing as a striker with creativity behind him, and in a new system, who knows how he would perform?

As the 10. I want Pogba always in his best role.

I'd bite their hand off. 20M on top? No problem. And I'm not even a Lukaku hater, I rate him as our best/most consistent forward, although that's probably more a reflection of what a poor opinion I have of Rashford, let alone Martial (again, consistency, not top level or ceiling, just fed up with the flattering to deceive).

Its a fact. Deal with it.

In his two seasons here Lukaku has scored more than half the goals Dybala has scored at Juventus.

Lukaku has 193 career goals to Dybalas 103.

Lukaku has 45 international goals, record goalscorer for his country, to Dybala's miserable 1 goal in a friendly in late 2018!

Dybala's a superstar though. He's really a fraud, rather his cult followers like yourself elevate him to places he has no business being.

I just think with someone who can self create in that role would be nice, like Aguero at City. I think it'd bring the creative pressure off Pogba too if we had someone else to bring other players into the game.

    Swings and roundabouts really.

Agree, absolutely, we need more creativity upfront.

Messi will be 34 by the next WC, there's every chance all the nearly men that haven't had a look in for the NT while under his shadow now will.

There are hardly better ways out there to stake your claim than coming to United and being pivotal to a change in fortunes.

Of course, it requires convincing that it won't be just him, there's no CL, Ole may not be credible enough (not just experience but how seriously you can take his assurances and project to the long term).

There's a clear case to be made though, no doubt in my mind.

It’s a ridiculous notion to be fair. You cannot exclude players from an entire country because of previous players from that country. If that’s the only factor that unites them, then it’s irrelevant.

Not to mention that many Argentines have shown they can come to the very same city and be a success literally 20 mins down the road, the only thing left is a theory that Argenitines perhaps don’t like red and prefer blue. Maybe because it’s closer to their national team kit or something!

Man United's problem is they can't defend, it's been a catastrophic defence, and an utter lack of control in midfield. Dybala is a red herring, he's not a leader, a fighter, his work ethic is questionable and he'd be coming for the money.

This kid can play ball. If you look at our current attacking options we do need some of what he has.

Mata = class on the ball, but slow as a snail
Lukaku = Brick Feet, Poor fitness
Lingard = Not technically great at anything, but pacey and a hard worker
Rashford = Inconsistent, but pacey and a hard worker.
Martial = Poor fitness, a bit Lazy, Indifferent, World beater when he "feels like it" (once a month)
Sanchez = SLOW, Poor fitness, Loses possession, could care less

These players dictate the way we currently attack other teams. This is why we are always second best in the attacking 3rd. It also the main reason why 1.5 months of Ole's high intensity, high pressing, high speed attack had most of them on the training table with injuries. We are never going to play that style with this group of players.

We know Mata is out, we hope Lukaku is out, and we all hate Sanchez cause he is a gooner who never did anything for us. You know Lingard, Martial, and Rashford will all be back, but add Dybala, Greenwood, Chong, Daniel James to those 3 and the improvement in PACE. MOBILITY, and Work Ethic would be tremendous.

These new guys would make it really hard for guys like Lingard, Rash and Martial to hide anymore. They would have REAL competition for spots. The key thing would be getting a read on his personality and where he is at as far as his maturity and is he ready to be a leader? If he ticks the boxes there then he has bags of talent. I say no brainer.

I mean, we can’t attack either. We’re equally concerning at both ends of the pitch.

There is no area of the pitch in which we are sufficiently stocked with quality to be able to turn good players down.

We can't replace all XI in one summer, but we should take opportunities as we find them.

I’m not sure there’s anything in this. All the noise coming out of United is we’re after good young talent not £100m marquee signings.

    You are probably right.

I could however forsee a circumstance in which we decide to let Pogba go, and Woodward therefore seeks to bring in one big name to appease the sponsors.

If that happens, it might be a case of "Dybala or Bale". I'd definitely prefer the former!

Can't see us signing him as the price would be astronomical and would wipe out a high percentage of our transfer budget. I would love him here, but there are more pressing matters that need to be addressed first. The defence needs at least 3 new players, maybe 4. A CM, plus a winger.

I would improve/revamp our defence and midfield first. Better midfield and defence and fullbacks would give a lot more creativity (and give Pogba a better platform). Right wing it's hard to say who we could get but there is definitely a big need there. Next step would be to see what we need in the rest of the attack, if after all of the others are fixed, Martial, rashford, Greenwood, whoever else don't show enough to prove they can be long term options.

The problem with Dybala is that same as what it was with Griezmann. He would play in a position which isn't high on our priority list (when you compare it to what we actually need), and his ideal position/system isn't really one that we have anyway so he wouldn't just slot in seamlessly.

So you don't see him fitting in as part of a front 2 or behind the front 2 in a 41212 diamond that Ole has used so often this season? That means Dybala instead of Lingard/Mata, or Dybala instead of Lukaku?

Think its just Juve trying to offload him, very much doubt Ole wants him at all. Just like Bale. Everyone wants to offload to us as we pay stupid prices.
