What club makes you think of a certain player whenever you hear their name? Personally, I always think of Michael Dawson when I hear about Spurs, for some reason.

I instantly think of Jordan Henderson when I hear Ajax. A true Ajax legend, up there with Cruijff and Van Basten.

United will be Rooney for me, Liverpool will be Gerrard. Terry for Chelsea, Henry for Arsenal. Aston Villa is Olof Mellberg for whatever reason. Tottenham is Ledley King. Bolton I will forever associate with Kevin Davies. Southampton really should be Le Tissier but it is James Beattie.

Everton - Lee Carsley
West Brom - Jonathan Greening or Zoltan Gera
West Ham - Anton Ferdinand
Leeds - Alan Smith
Pompey - Gary O'Neill
Boro - Gary O'Neill
Leicester - Muzzy Izzet
Blackburn - David Bentley
Newcastle - Alan Shearer

Liverpool should be Berbatov surely or maybe even Forlan. Villa has to be Macheda

Really good shout on Macheda! Could also have gone Scholes again for that volley from the corner but was trying not to use the same player twice for 2 teams. With Ruud I was thinking the comeback game in the FA Cup when he came off the bench and the pitch invasion. I was so happy that day but to be fair I was even happier with Macheda.

With Hughes and Liverpool, he was my favourite player growing up, and 3 very nice goals he scored against them always come to mind when I hear their name. 2 in the same game at Old Trafford in a 2-2 draw when the Stretford end was being redeveloped, a lob and a dving header. There was also one he smashed in from long range in a midweek match, think it was a League Cup match. Could easily have gone Hughes for Barcelona because of the Cup Winner's Cup, or Oldham for his famous equaliser.

I personally think of Cantona when Liverpool comes up. That FA cup final was my first as a supporter and to beat the spice boys and their cream suits was just perfection. Great memories for sure but rather conspicuous that not a single current player is in that list. The last decade has really been a barren period, people still celebrate a random knock out win over PSG as some highlight.

Don't sign old players and cast offs
From Lancashire

Blackpool - Stanley Matthews
Preston - Tom Finney
Burnley - Jimmy Adamson
Bolton - Nat Lofthouse
Blackburn - None
City - Franny Lee (world class diver)
Everton - Dixie Dean
Liverpool - Kenny Dogfish

For us you could fill a book, but on balance Bobby Charlton

Apologies to those I can't think of, Barrow, Southport, Oldham, Rochdale, Bury and Wigan. And to some who seem to have come from nowhere to me, Fylde, Fleetwood and Morecambe.
