We probably only have a budget worth 1 striker. And with Wout leaving for sure and Sabitizer looking unlikely to be made permanent, we can't have a proper overhaul that the squad needs. If there are going to be exits, those have to be player initiated especially for the likes of Maguire, McTominay and Sancho which is quite unlikely. As a club, we've bought so many players who are happy to let their reputation slide in return for a, admittedly obscene, paycheck.

Van De Beek
Fred
McTominay
Lindelof

Would be hard to move all of them on but at least Maguire, Jones and Martial should be doable from the get go.
Why Lindelöf? The last games have proven that he’s a solid second choice CB unless paired with Maguire (beside who even Maldini would struggle).

Get Martial,Sancho and DDG on list
I’d give Sancho one more season to see if he can make it here. Martial, yes, I’ve had enough of watching his half hearted performances, he needs to go. DDG is a difficult one, he’s cost us some big games but he does make big saves in big moments - the reported £375,000 a weeks though is absurd.

Realistic list:

Maguire - 10 million
McTominay - 15 million
Martial - 10 million
Sancho - loan back to BVB
Weghorst - don't renew the loan
Sabitzer - see above
Fred - 10 million
Jones - release
Williams - 2 million
Bailly - 3 million
Henderson - 10 million
DDG - 5 million
Telles - 2 million
Elanga - 4 million

That's a cull.

Do half of that and it's a start.

Jeezus.
Forgot half of these players were even here.
But agree with this.
DDG depends on contract but the rest can feck off.
Throw Tony Marshall in there as well.

Blimey if we can't get more than £25m for Maguire and McTominay that's a shambles

Maguire, Martial and McTominay, on top of the usual suspects (Bailly, Jones, Telles, Van de Beek, etc.).

Apart from the obvious ones:
De Gea
McTominay (think we can get a good price for him, and if we do the right moves he will be second spare part)
Maguire
Sancho

I'm not sure:
Antony (would love to recoup some money, as I just don't see where he goes from here)
Van de Beek (just because I think he can be useful but also nobody's paying more than 5m for him now)
Elanga (if someone is willing to pay, then I don't mind).

There can't be any chance Maguire stays on.
He can't even get into a centre back combo featuring Lindelof and an out if position Shaw!

We'll have to take a huge whop on the price and may have to help out with wages but should still have some sort of decent value.

Realistically, as people put together lists of 15 players every season...

Henderson
Maguire
Bailly
Tuanzebe, Telles (assuming they're on loan somewhere rather than already gone)
Jones
McTom

Shift that lot for 60-70m without having to contribute much to wages and we'll have done well.

Just get rid of the lot. Tear the band aid off and suffer for a season if needed. Too many players have failed, too many players have been here too long. The reason we have no bottle is because these lads get to stay no matter what, there's zero consequences for being shite when you play for United.

Assuming that you are happy with our attacking players to be what we have next season?

Would keep Sabitzer provided we can get at least backup DM & progressive CM,however happy to see the back of others
Nooo, we absolutely shouldn't. Sabitzer is bang average and we have so many players like him. Under no circumstances should we keep him...we should be looking to offload such players including donny and mctominay, not adding another player who has no best position and who isnt good in any phase of the game

Forgetting about the obvious ones.

Martial
Maguire
Fred
McT
Sancho

So called first teamers that are not anywhere near the quality requirements

A big problem that we have is that players who are clearly not at the required level can have a half decent few games and suddenly we view them as being good. Putting multiple seasons of poor quality out of our minds and imagining that to be poor form and their last decent match to be indicative of quality instead.

Our standards have dropped massively over the years and players who are clearly not going to cut it are sticking around on huge wages bringing down the overall quality of the squad massively.

If it were possible I would like us to replace or get rid of:

VDB
Maguire
Fred
McTom
Weghorst
Martial
Jones
Elanga
And ideally get a new keeper in so probably replace De Gea

Obviously all of this can't happen, but I would also be unfazed to see the back of a great many other players as long as we keep Bruno, Eriksen, Martinez, Shaw, Varane and Casemiro.

I'd say most of the above could be replaced with youth, freebies or at least cheap transfers.

Does Lindelof give you the reassurance in the back four that Vidic and Rio gave? If not then why should he hang around. He may have been decent the past few games but he's not someone that can relied upon consistently. Get rid. We've been hoarding these passengers for far too long now.

I'd go with:

Maguire - it's kind of bad when our LB is a better CB than our record CB purchase.
Bailly - he's worth at least 5mil for some French club.
Telles - he's getting play time, should be an easy move.
VDB - it's not worth it anymore, just let him go back to Ajax.
Fred/McT - whoever is easier to be moved.

Chuck De Gea in as well who needs to go
Am ok with DDG: firstly I think we could get away with him as 1st choice for another season because of a tight budget. Secondly I think he could be our backup keeper when someone else comes in as 1st choice, assuming he's ok with that.

Probably Elanga too.

I doubt they can all be moved though unless they are at severely cut prices. I expect to see a number of loans again, sadly.

Will be the same old this summer, players on big wages, teams offering nowhere near acceptable transfer fees and ultimately the majority will be staying.

Too much work for the transfer dept. Never gonna happen. Funny thing is that so many of these needed to leave 1-2 years ago but the idiots couldn't manage to sell anyone.
Agreed it's too much for Our current management but one can hope with new owners things might be different .

We have so many random squad players (like I thought we sold Telles but based on this thread apparently he’s just on loan) and will instead list out the players in and around the first team.

Maguire
DDG
Sancho
McT (Though to be fair this one is dependent on getting a replacement in because we need some numbers)
Weghorst (Don’t care about numbers he is the absolute worst)
Martial (Similar to McT)

Torn on Wan-Bissaka. Nowhere near good enough to start for us, but is useful now and then. Fred-like.
Can’t disagree with any of those going.
We can dream!

Martial

I'd keep DDG but on a vastly reduced salary.
I'd also keep Fred as back up.

I think we are a top level striker (25+ goals per season) and a good young back up, away from really challenging. Scoring goals is clearly the problem.

Added to that back up for Bruno and centre back cover and we are in good shape.
Kane and Maddison are musts for me.

Victor Lindelof. Cant stand him. And he gets to ride the CAF hype train because everybody hates Maguire.

Henderson, Williams, Laird, Telles, Bailly, Jones none of them have played a game for us and all feel like a given.

From the loanees, I'd look to sign Sabitzer and let Weghorst go with thanks.

From the actual squad this year,

Maguire is 5th choice centre back and needs to go to protect his international career.
Van De Beek, would have loved if it'd worked out, it hasn't and isn't going to.
De Gea. Legend of the club, but it's time to move on. I suspect we'll give him another contract though.
Martial. Like DvB, it's not working and there's zero suggestion it'll get better. On a massive salary and I don't see a destination, suspect we're stuck for 2 more years. Praying for a miracle.
Elanga - Never really saw the point of him when Ralf brought him into the team.

Sancho is drinking in the last chance salon, but I think we need to give it another year and hope for a Rashford style renaissance .

Lastly and most obviously, Mason Greenwood must be moved on.
