Pogba stays. Lukaku out. Bruno, Dybala and Maguire in. What would be our ceiling?

Fourth place, assuming Solskjaer can get the rest of the squad playing - we have after all lost 6 of our last 10 games with him in charge (no win in 5) and most of the first XI will remain the same.
Going by OP it would be 4 new players, including AWB, compared to last season.

Directly under the sun... NOW!
So how do you fit Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, and Paulo Dybala in the same team without seriously accommodating the talents of at least one of those players? Genuinely curious.
I'm genuinely curious why a 4-2-2-2 golden rectangle won't work.

Rashford and Dybala up front and playing wide, Pogba and Bruno pushing up through the middle, and McT and another as CDMs.

AWB and Shaw holding back.

Dybala can play up top or on the right without much issue, he’s done it to great effect throughout his career no? Pogba continues to play where he’s played all pre season. Bruno comes in for Lingard.
Dybala can't play on the right.

It's central or bust with him.

If we bought him to play him on the right, massive waste.

Why can’t he? Why can’t he play up top? Why can’t he play in a side that the manager has specifically stated he wants to interchange?

We don't need both Bruno and Dybala to push for 3rd. It should be a realistic goal whatever happens.

I'm highly doubtful we would sign Dybala and Bruno Fernandes both play best as number 10's (or there or there about) so doesn't seem the best use of funds buying them both. Add Pogba to the mix and our team would be a lopsided mess.

The thing is Ole has said he wants to see some fluidity and interchange with our attackers. This place is making out he'll be glued to the right wing.

Because he's played before on the right and been fairly poor.

He's best in a central position off the striker.

I was under the impression that him playing out wide was a large reason he had such an average season. As in, 'He can play there' in the same way Rashford and Martial can. Maybe some of the residential Serie A viewers can confirm.

Much depends on Ole's own ceiling and it is a big unknown.

Our ceiling would be 9-0 vs Real Madrid at Old Trafford after they enter the Europa League after a failed CL campaign.

If that happens, I will sport a proud stiffy for some time.

No I agree. Looks like we might get some movement with Dybala, Bruno all able to drive forward with the ball or play one touch football which will make us far harder to mark. If we keep Pogba and sign Dybala, Bruno -- well have 3 players who are absolutely deadly from outside the box as well so yet another dimension. Hope this comes through.

Again, the players will be interchanging, he wont be stuck out wide.

Then he or Bruno can't play for us. Because Ole requires interchange, and that means playing across the front line.

We aren't going to be playing with wingers hugging to touch line.

1st, how could anything else be our ceiling in that situation. We'd have the best team we've had for a good number of years so you'd expect a challenge.

People saying 4th are mental

No.. His heat map for 17/18 video was mostly on the right. He scored 26 that season. Watch the video above, he loves curling the shots in from the right with his left foot.

Happened a good amount today with Chong hugging the touch line at various points in the 2nd half.

Constant interchanging isn't a good thing imo.

With plenty of options on the bench.

Top 3 this season. Title next.

We should really be hijacking Arsenal's Tierney bid too.

People saying Bruno can't play CM didn't watch him in the UEFA Nations League he slotted in so naturally at RCM in a 4-3-3
Dybala as a false 9 and Bruno at RCM with Pogba LCM isn't too unrealistic

I think if Ole got all 3 of them we’d go back to a Diamond, but could still play a 4-2-3-1 if you pushed Dybala wide right

De Gea

AWB Maguire Lindelof Shaw

McTominay

Fernandes Pogba

Dybala

Rashford Martial

Subs: Romero, Dalot, Tuanzabe, Matic, James, Mata, Greenwood

We need 20 goals from Rashford and Martial this year but this team there’s goals and pace all over the pitch

Definitely title challenge

youd be tempted to play a diamond

-------------- Martial----Rashford----------
----------------------Dybala-------------------------
--------------Pogba--------Fernandes-------
---------------------McTominay-----------------

that would be a fantastic attacking team and Pogba, Fernandes would need to work hard to support McT

we'd be a lot closer to City for sure depending on how decent our defence is
Yep, 442 diamond or 4231 against certain sides with Dybala playing wide with license to interchange positions

Hope, We Lose
We'd need to win something big because our wages would still be out of control with Sanchez, Pogba wanting more money and De Gea seemingly about to get more money.

We could also play something like this versus big teams:

Rashford/Martial - Dybala
Fernandes
Pogba - McTominay
CDM
Shaw - Maguire - Lindelof - Wan Bissaka
De Gea

That would be a good window, but we'll still be missing a top goal scorer up front to take care of all chances. We won't challenge for the league thanks to this but should be top 3 minimum.

It's a so called fresh start so it's got to be a minimum of top four, decent fist of at least two cup competitions. There's got to be a general all over improvement and a sign of direction in how the side is playing.
Regarding wages stop giving ridiculous contracts to the elderly and bang average players.
There should have been a minimum of six high earners moved on early in the summer.

Can't see how both Dybala and Fernandes play in the same system, without losing the balance in midfield. The only hope is that McSauce steps up big time, which is not realistic to expect at that age.

But if Ole proves to be a decent coach, I can see us comfortably finish top 4 (maybe even 3rd) and a deep run/ possible trophy in the EL.

I hope we are not going to be relying on Martial to score us 20 goals. He couldn't score against Norwegian Minnows-he hasn't got enough of a ruthless streak. Rashford can weigh in but they need a seasoned goalscorer.

Why would we sign 2 number 10s when pogbas best position is pushing into those spaces and when ole hasn't stopped talking about wingers.

I'd like to see him give it a go like anybody else, just seem a absolutely bizarre. Could take that 75m lukaku money and get a legit centre mid x

I like this scenario.
Nevertheless, having all of Martial, Rashford, Bruno, Dybala, James, Lingard, Mata and Alexis, with youngsters like Greenwood and Gomes seriously in need of game time - surely it's a bit of an overkill ?
Might aswell part ways with JLingz or Alexis.

2nd - I do not see Pool scoring as many points next season, and once the wheels start to come off they will drop back from City who will romp it, we sign those three it will be a dogfight between us Spurs and Pool for 2nd/3rd/4th

But he could score against Spurs. It’s pre-season ffs.
