We were by far the better team, we didnt win because of our Goalie.
By far the better team is a stretch probably. We were overall better. Our defence is week but that's somrthing we always knew. And DDG did bail us out a few times, no one can deny that.

But that's what his job is. Just because they were through on goal doesn't mean they played better, as DDG is part of the team.

De Gea!

I thought Carrick, Rooney and RvP were excellent as the spine of the team, with Super Dave holding the fort when we let Liverpool in.

It was a bit sloppy in the first half but much better in the second. The exciting thing is we are winning and yet to really hit great form performance-wise and we have Di Maria and Shaw to return.

Happy with the result, happy with the performance...something just doesn't feel right. Can't put my finger on it but Liverpool had 6 easy chances today.
It's the passing. Their easy chances came from passing mistakes from us. That's the part we need to clean up. A lot of times they are easy passes. We give the ball away far to easy at the midfield line. That has been the trend since Fergie, Scholes, and Ferdinand left. Ferdinand was excellent with the ball at his feet. Scholes was also excellent. Our current crop of defenders are nowhere near Ferdinand's level of distribution. So we rely on Carrick. That has to be sorted.

I'd say we were slightly better. We could've just as easily lost this game if not for De Gea and the offside goal. We certainly weren't remotely as dominant as the score might suggest.

Don't agree with that at all, thought they were the better team. Don't think we would have had much to complain about if they got something out of the match.

Carragher hung up on how many chances they created

RAWK will have a "chances created" table soon enough.

Still not a vintage win but lets be too negative about it, we actually looked decent going forwards and regularly looked like scoring.

We didn't play well defensively at all today but we were the better team because Liverpool were even worse defensively and didn't take their chances going forward.

Who needs a midfield and defense when you have the best forwards and the best keeper. :D

Delighted with the win. Even pundits that have been nothing but horrible towards DDG are praising him. Ridiculous that he had to make so many saves at home against a team not playing well and without a striker for 45 minutes.

No real improvement from the defense. Couldn't pass the ball out of defense when pressed. Feels like that they're overestimating the numbers at the back. Just because there are three of you doesn't mean you should rush out and press. Like Kolo in the third goal. He was way out of defense. There's a serious lack of communicating. That might be the biggest issue. If they were good at it they probably would have worked out most of the kinks by now. But so far the passing isn't good, they're not sure who they mark. I mean Sterling shouldn't win a free header when he's the only attacker in the box.

The team has been clinical. That's winning us games. There's a reason these guys cost big bucks and Balotelli was on the cheap.

So, beginning of the season, and someone tells you we'll start Rooney and Fellaini in midfield with Wilson up top versus Liverpool. And Ashley Young at wing-back. And we will win comfortably.

You would have thought they'd lost the plot...

Agree. Nearly all their chances stem from a bad pass by someone. Young put Evans in some very difficult positions, Evans had a nightmare at times. He is not good when he has to think. He is better when he is reactive. Rooney very good for 70 minutes, died a bit after that, put that down to his injury. First time for a long time that I have seem Valencia tank a full back. Would just love to see more of Falcao.

DDG was MOTM but delighted Jones had a good game please stay fit

Rooney, mats and RVP were very good

Fellaini for me was our best outfield player in the 2nd half

Val and young are great back up wingbacks

Delighted

Edit. Carrick was immense all game. Was he wearing slippers? So easy for him at times[/QUOTE]
Think he was sat in his rocking chair smoking a pipe.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.
They opened us up time and again while we basically scored from every decent chance we had besides the one Van Persie hit wide. To say we were by far the better team is definitely exaggerating.
To say that they were the better team is an even bigger exaggeration.

Anyway its ok to disagree.

3-0 aside, defence was still suspect, and none of our players knew how to make a simple pass in the first half. Passing was atrocious. I don't think LVG will be very happy with our performance overall.

De Gea masked the score line massively. All credit to him.

Agreed. We were more composed and did not panic as much. They shit themselves every time we attacked. They just lacked punch and Sterling still tries to do too much on his own.

We again had no midfield today and that's why it's so easy to create chances. Thank god we were ruthless upfront today

You know things are getting better when Fellaini starts to look out of his depth. However bad anyone thinks we are , Liverpool are worse. Sure we had some luck and the scousers must be seething (good) , however , we took our (handed on a plate ) chances and FCUK 3-0 !!!!!

You know, despite our defensive issues we still have the 4th least conceded goals in the league. Factor away that abomination of a game against Leicester and we'd have 12 goals conceded in 15 games. Despite all these injuries and mistakes, it's not been that bad.

Evans was very poor today though.

Importance of a brilliant keeper. You've always got a chance to win games with someone like him in between the sticks.

Yeah we would be amongst Chelsea and City in terms of goals conceded if not for the Leicester game. Conversely, we would have conceded about 5-10 more if not for De Gea's heroics.

Without Carrick or Blind in that defensive midfielder role we're absolutely terrible when our defenders are being pressed. De Gea is really making us look better than we are currently.

A fit Shaw would have had their midfield doubling up on him and they would have been exposed even more , Captain' uber scouse' Gerrard was totally anonymous.

david de gea is officially the best goalie in the premier league and definitely one of the top 3 in europe now. period. we are very lucky to have him and i hope we can sort out his contract and give him a world class defense by next season.

rvp is starting to get his form again. hope it's falcao turn over the next few weeks.

plenty of option in midfield. we can even afford to leave herrera on the bench when we are without di maria and blind. and carrick was playing in defense also!!

defense got bailed out by de gea numerous times here. i know evans and jones had just return but they need to up their level sooner. carrick was a big help at the back for sure. hope rojo's injury is not serious and we can get smalling and shaw back within 2 weeks.

great result, expected as liverpool have been so poor lately but we let de gea overworked a bit here. still cannot complain about the result. common united!!

Can anyone tell me what Lovern was doing? Why didnt he just stop the ball?
It doesn't make any sense.
That picture of Darth Vader standing in water makes more sense that what Lovern was doing
