One or two acquisitions away from challenging. But we really need a stronger bench, the difference in quality is too big.
Well done. Great performance, reasons for loads of optimism .. immediately come in with a prediction of negativity. You must be great fun.And when we have Southampton (H) we will resort to mediocre
That's the spirit. And when we have Southampton (H) we will resort to mediocre
Since early 17/18 season where we pretty much beat every team 4-0 until Lindelof fell apart in Huddersfield. We thrashed two teams in a row in PL. first time since ....?
Despite the fact that we've proven all season long that we can compete with the big boys ... and these are the exact games and teams we've struggled with? So, we shouldn't be excited that the new signing in Bruno looks like being the key to being able to unlock teams that sit back, teams we've lost points to all season?Brighton without Maupay and Mooy two of their best players. We shouldn't be getting carried away but our starting 11 is close to being very good.
Get a Shaw replacement or promote Williams and we're talking. Add Sancho and it's game over.
I see a few comments like this after yesterday. Personally I think a better centre forward, left back and centre half are needed but I’m not sure the argument about the bench is correct. 1. Look at Liverpool: Lovren, Matip, Origi are a big step below the first eleven 2. If we buy top class players and leave them on the bench won’t we end up with a very unhappy and divided dressing room?Please... we are two summer windows from competing for the league. We don't have squad depth. First 11 are fine but there is a huge drop off after Bruno/Pogba.
Wow. Yeah. You could say that.Good win but let's not get carried away. Brighton is 3 places above the bottom 3.
It's good form but so much to improve. Their keeper didn't have to make many saves. DeGea made better saves.
We are still not going to compete either with Liverpool, City and even Chelsea with this team. We need a couple of better players and a better bench too.
Brighton had been unbeaten since the restart, and they even beat the mighty Arsenal. I was genuinely worried this game was going to be a banana skin.Brighton & Hove were poor but it was still easily our best performance of the season
...boasting about giving his daughter anxiety issues.Well done. Great performance, reasons for loads of optimism .. immediately come in with a prediction of negativity. You must be great fun.
I read a book to my daughter called Mr. Miserable. This is like something he'd say.
Well played....boasting about giving his daughter anxiety issues.
I'm not even remotely worried. He's just taking his time to find his feet after a long layoff, along with a bad injury. He'll be fine.A bit worried about Rashford. Hasn't had a good game since returning. Hope he is saving it for Chelsea, in Wembley. We need everyone to give 110% in last 6 Premier League games. Win them all and see where it takes us. Another good team performance against Brighton, keep it up men.
Didn't he get two assists in the game before this one?A bit worried about Rashford. Hasn't had a good game since returning. Hope he is saving it for Chelsea, in Wembley. We need everyone to give 110% in last 6 Premier League games. Win them all and see where it takes us. Another good team performance against Brighton, keep it up men.
This was better than Sheffield gameeh? We just played Sheffield last week.
Not shit scared, we were saving our best players for Norwich on Saturday, three points there is more important to us.Because their manager was shit scared of us and went defensive from get go,
I would disagree with this, Martial might have been quiet, but both he and Rashford were instrumental in pulling our defence out of shape on a number of occassions. That's what so good about the 'MMM' line up the way they switch around, one or even two maybe quiet interms of goals but they scare the shit out of defences becasue you never know who to mark, add Bruno and Pogba lurking at the edge of the box and it is a powerful attack regardless. Gone are the days when you could double mark Pogba and keep United quiet. That said, Martial summed up my feelings: one game where he shines followed by one where he might as well have stayed in Manchester.
NO, I never said he has done nothing. I mean he is not the same as he was before his injury. He is not as explosive. Maybe just maybe he is not fully match fit yet.Didn't he get two assists in the game before this one?
He hasn't scored but it's not like he's done nothing
He offers nothing in attack. Defensively he's not great in the air and his sense of positioning has never been all that either. I've never thought he was a great player and he's a poor excuse of an athlete constantly overweight over his 6 year career at Utd. Rather he was replaced with someone who really wants to be a top player for club and country.I don't get the dislike for Shaw, what am i missing? he's been playing well these paste few games and especially before the break.
You should timestamp that and check it in 3 years. Williams is already the more mobile, fitter, in shape, aggressive tackler, more meaningful forward runs, better passer. What is this Williams hype? Seriously, you want him in over Shaw? What the hell is Shaw doing wrong? William won't be hear in another 3 years pal. Shaw still will be
He’s not just marginally less fit after lockdown, like everyone else. He’s coming back after almost half a year out with a broken fecking back. I think we can cut him a little more slack.NO, I never said he has done nothing. I mean he is not the same as he was before his injury. He is not as explosive. Maybe just maybe he is not fully match fit yet.
I disagree. Replacing Shaw as a starter should be our main concern. The rest of the starting 11 picks itself now.Because their manager was shit scared of us and went defensive from get go, we hardly needed to get out of second gear this certainly bodes well for our future.
Shaw is couple of levels above Williams currently he is least of our concern right now.
You must be arguing with someone else or yourself. Not what I said at all.Despite the fact that we've proven all season long that we can compete with the big boys ... and these are the exact games and teams we've struggled with? So, we shouldn't be excited that the new signing in Bruno looks like being the key to being able to unlock teams that sit back, teams we've lost points to all season?
Jesus wept.
of course we need Sancho, and also we need some good CDM.We don’t have depth outside first XI - the only players who can come on without drop in quality are Williams and Bailly, and situationally Ighalo. Fred and McTominay are a few tiers below Pogba and Bruno, as is Daniel James.Genuinely look forward to every game now. We are building something great. I don't even know if we need Sancho at this point. I would bring in a box to box midfielder and another creative midfielder for depth as well as a shaw replacement.
Yes, your right Pogue. You are jumped on here and picked up wrong. I am delighted to have Rashford back. I just close my eyes when someone tackles him now, afraid of another injury to his back. He was explosive before his injury. He’s not just marginally less fit after lockdown, like everyone else. He’s coming back after almost half a year out with a broken fecking back. I think we can cut him a little more slack.
We don't know if Liverpool can be consistent with this level of success -- I think they have been lucky with their injuries.I see a few comments like this after yesterday. Personally I think a better centre forward, left back and centre half are needed but I’m not sure the argument about the bench is correct. 1. Look at Liverpool: Lovren, Matip, Origi are a big step below the first eleven 2. If we buy top class players and leave them on the bench won’t we end up with a very unhappy and divided dressing room?
Not taking away from Liverpool but it seems to me that their remarkable injury record is a massive factor. They don’t have great squad depth but still won by a cricket score.
I don't know about that. Sheffield was more complete both offensively and defensively. We didn't give them a sniff in that game whereas in this game we sort of let off a bit in the second half and allowed them to pressure us a bit for a while. This was better than Sheffield game
I for one just see a muppet stumbling around a football forumYou should timestamp that and check it in 3 years. Williams is already the more mobile, fitter, in shape, aggressive tackler, more meaningful forward runs, better passer.
Luke Shaw is a fool stumbling around a pitch and always has been.
I don't think people are truly appreciating how difficult it would be for a lot of players to get back to match speed after that lockdown - let alone an injury + lockdown. He’s not just marginally less fit after lockdown, like everyone else. He’s coming back after almost half a year out with a broken fecking back. I think we can cut him a little more slack.
I was talking about the "We shouldn't be getting carried away" part. You must be arguing with someone else or yourself. Not what I said at all.
Unless you're a relative of Luke Shaw theres no reason for you to reply to my post like that.
I hope we can click on and go on a long run where we dominate games and confindence builds but , sorry to be pessimistic, I don’t feel it happening. I’ve no answer but we seem predicable and easy to contain. That's the spirit.
