Scrappy game, but good fight on show to get the 3 points... especially as we insited on trying to play them in on our goal as much as humanly possible.

Yeah real spirit shown in these two games against Leeds albeit very different ways

vs Leicester or they will do us in the form they're in.
What form? The form where they beat a shite Villa team or a Spurs team with a bottom of the table backline and keeper?

Here is Leicester's form before those

2-2 Brighton
0-2 Forest
0-1 Fulham
1-2 Liverpool
0-3 Newcastle

Be nice if Villa can take something from Arsenal on Saturday (unlikely) and we can recover from Europa hangover on Sunday

We also need the Forest who troubled Chelsea and beat scousers at home to turn up next weekend as well

And yet he managed to be involved in build up play and hold up play.
Not really. He was invisible all game. Was one of the primary points of halftime analysis. Same invisibility extended to the second half. Glad he popped up for an assist at the end of the game. Doesn’t negate the invisibility for the rest of the time he was on the pitch.

It wasn't a great match and we looked hammered for most of it but yeah it's Leeds cup final as we know. They'll be trash again immediately.

Still, a crappy win is still a win so the result is good. Just so pleased nobody got injured with the way they were throwing our players about.

Cant keep starting Weghorst, he has none of the quality or intelligence to be a number 9 for 90 minutes, at this level he's a 15 minute per game player at best. And having Maguire and Bruno in the same defensive half together is just one disaster after another.

Also Sancho looking like a £72m Elanga clone.

Rashford and Shaw carrying us. Need to be so much better than this vs Leicester or they will do us in the form they're in.
One win and suddenly Leicester in some sort of brilliant form.

Great win in a hostile environment. The players must be buzzing!

These back to back Leeds games has shown how big a miss Eriksen and Casemiro are though

We had no control over midfield, whether being an option to receive the ball or initiating moves with quality passes...

Just relieved we came good at the end. On to Barcelona

Poor game - midfield was poor, maguire wasnt great and uptop we didnt really do anything til the subs came on. But when they did, Martinez was brilliant, Garnacho - lovely lovely finish and Rashford has turned into something else altogether. An absolute monster. Brilliant result, shite game but team spirit is building and we are looking like a tight nit unit again. Reminds me of the Fergie teams of the 90's everyone celebrating together.

If we needed any evidence that the squad depth just isn't good enough to mount a true title challenge look no further, Leeds played well, credit where it is due, but our midfield without Casemiro and Eriksen is weak, be interesting to see if Sabitzer is better when playing with Casemiro in the side.

Malacia, like the guy but Shaw is on a different level in what he offers coming out of defence

Why oh why oh why do we keep playing the ball out from the back when it is leading to disaster, mix it up, they push on, kick over them, they drop back play it out, just so predictable and so easy to press

Nope. Only invisible to people who don‘t pay attention. He is not a top striker, but does what is asked of him.

People seriously underestimating what Eriksen was doing for us before being overused/injured. Sabitzer and Fred look so flat playing out from the back and the tempo was then set by the CBs…which is not Maguire strength at all. Eriksen makes angles to receive the ball better and moves the ball quicker. While losing Casemiro is one of the main reasons we look vulnerable…losing Eriksen is one of the main reasons we are not dominating the ball or looking as dangerous.

A poor day at the office, but we made the three points. Rashford is becoming something of an enigma, seeming to have less and less touches in a game, but some touches are explosive, same again yesterday.
Thought Shaw was the best player, his all round game and his ability to play in the centre of defensive is getting better, wonder what Jose would have to say now?
I thought Maguire did well overall, but his attempts at coming forward with the ball were undertaken with nowhere near as much confidence as Varane's are... 'see the difference'. I liked Harry's post match comments about the club having 'four excellent centre backs now, all of whom will get game time'.

Ha. Ok. Well, good talk. I’ll just that say that given the analysts and his post game rating on here, there don’t seem to be many people who agree with your opinion.

You look silly, saying that Weghorst doesn‘t hold up the ball well or lay it off and missing he had an assist. Obviously you are not paying attention.

I agree there are marginal improvements in Weghorst play each game, these are not earth shattering but they are there, he is obviously listening to what the coaches are saying.
The one thing I was surprised at is despite his height he seems to have difficulty winning the ball in the air, in particular from a standing start, coming on to the ball in the air he seems much better.
The lad is listening to advice and he is attempting to fill a hole for us, IMO each game he 'fits in that hole' much better.

Great away win , proper gutsy performance needed in a season those games can win you leagues. Loved the result subs made the difference Martinez class Shaw playing where he's best , And to put Wout as a 10 for a bit was master stroke, AWB came on and was great he pushed up high , more space for Sabitzer who pass was top class. And Rashford header again, Garnacho can frighten most defences now.

Great win.

It was a rough game but I think this is the mentality that we United fans love after watching a scruffy game and winning it. That Harry Maguire though, he is so bad with his passing range and slows to game down so much. I hope he leaves in the summer and we find a good, young replacement for him. We're so lucky he is not playing week in week out anymore. The man stinks. I understand the rotation though, Rafael Varane needs rest before the big game at the Nou Camp. "The Butcher" however could've played the full game what will the European suspension and all. Shaw needed rest as well. Anyway, it was a good result and now we need to gear up for the trip to Barcelona.
