Absolutely battered them. Unsurprised they couldn’t hold out.
Yea it was easily his worst game for us so far but I still liked what I saw effort wise and his still did some little things that paid dividends for us.First bad game for Bruno? Don't attack me, asking to see if I am being tough and didn't see certain things.
He did look brighter in extra time. But yea he hasn't looked the same player since the restartWorried about Rashford. He doesn't look ready at all.
Start a 'Disrespect of Odion Ighalo' thread. How Ighalo isn't Motm amongst the CAF is beyond me. His contribution led to a 1 0 and their red card
I just might aldo that would be too much.Start a 'Disrespect of Odion Ighalo' thread.
This is why I don't understand our fans. The level of impatience is outrageous. Everyone can now see that the players( Mata, Lingard, Pereira, Jones, Valencia, Fellaini, Herrera, Young and even the younger versions of Martial and Rashford) were not good or consistent enough to let us challenge for anything. We are now in a position where most of these players are gone, but the quality in depth we have particularly in attack do not provide the necessary skills to cut open defenses even in the most basic sense. Ole tried hard by making sure McGuire, Rashford, Bruno and AWB in particular play in almost every game due to his fear of poor performance from our squaddies. However overplaying rashford earlier in the season led to his back injury and Pogba simply hasn't been fit enough to be a factor this season.Mata 2/10
Lingard 2/10
Dalot 1/10
Bailly 3/10
All awful. Mata and Lingard just run around . Everything they do is ineffective. Dalot just isn’t Man United material, squad, reserves, and certainly not in the first 11. Technically, tactically and mentality not good enough. Bailly has a mistake in him every match, and he is so limited in his passing, he should never play in this situation. He's really a fourth or fifth best CB on a top 4 side. Break glass in case of emergency type.
I don't fault Ole for the performance. We've seen the starting 11 play quite well. I just think we have literally 15 reliable players in the first team, and if he wants to rotate, he doesn't have options at every position.
My only criticism of Ole is that he has to start 11 of those 15 every match. Get the lead, then cruise.
I don’t think that’s true at all.If anything we kept moving the ball outside the box too much and weren’t swinging crosses in. Even the goal came from a clever ball into the box from Pogba.Poor from the manager and coaching staff. Ighalo, Martial, Rashford, Greenwood, Bruno and Pogba, yet mentally we collapse into lumping it to Maguire in the box. It worked today, but isn’t effective football long term. A bit of a wake up call in what’s needed for top 4.
Worried about Rashford. He doesn't look ready at all.
And yet they did? In fact we started the second half very well... And scored as a result. Our 2nd string are quite a level below our first choice players. Without Pogba, Bruno and Rashford we still look quite poor, much like earlier in the season.
I wish OGS would make subs earlier. The big guns should have come on at half time. Did anyone really believe the combo of Mata and Lingard were going to improve after the break!?
I think Bruno might be rested for Brighton now, having played the whole 120 mins.
Yeah they were starting to create chances and had us on the back foot a few times.Oh really? Haha it did seem a lot longer, although to be fair Norwich were the better team on balance before the sendoff.
In any case we're through, so hopefully that doesn't affect our next league games to much.
Agreed. I wonder if he hasn't fully recovered from his injury. I thought after subbing in late, he would run the Norwich defense ragged. But he was barely moving until extra time.He did look brighter in extra time. But yea he hasn't looked the same player since the restart
I thought the selection was correct. That was just awful. The selection, the setup, the automated substitutions at the usual 60 odd mins.
It just reminded me of what used to be before Bruno came in and single handedly change fortunes.
That would have unnecessarily exhausted and potentially knocked us of our flow today. Will wait and see.
The aim of resting players ultimately backfired though didnt it as we had to play an extra half an hour with even Martial coming on in extra time as a desperate 6th substitute.I thought the selection was correct.
The aim is to rest our players and we're not going to play Pogba, Martial & Rashford and at the same time we can't play all players who haven't been playing enough matches after 3 months break while Norwich have their starting XI full match fitness, thus why we still put Maguire, Shaw, Bruno, Fred & Scott.
Preaching to the choir. I don’t blame Ole. He inherited the mess and it has turned around IMHO.This is why I don't understand our fans. The level of impatience is outrageous. You would think knowing about the shortages we have in depth in comparison to our rivals and the fact that our previous managers were known to be tactical geniuses that our fans would understand that tactics are not the reason for our shortcomings in many of our games. When Greenwood, Rashford or James do not play, we literally have no form of width in our attack. In addition, James isn't physical enough to use it effectively in the league, so does not provide a presence there for us. Even with Lingard, Pereira and Mata's level of centralization, they provide no proper link up play and in some cases are to slow( Mata) or lack the awareness ( Lingard and Pereira) to form any emblem of attacking structure or combination. Add that to the lack of width their unwillingness/lack of awareness to support the midfield and you have one clogged toilet of an attack relying solely on moments of brilliance from Bruno/Pogba ( he's suffered for many years with this tripe).
Yeah he definitley has talent. Stands out a mile for them.I haven't seen very many Norwich games, but Cantwell always impresses me
I agreeI thought the selection was correct.

We have a fixture pile up coming and have already experienced injuries to both Martial and Rashford this season. I'm surprise he didn't start Greenwood or James today, but I'm sure he's scared of burning them out ( James is already burnt out). FA cup was one of the few games we could afford to sacrifice our forwards for as we are in the run in. We are clearly chasing 4th as our first priority with the FA cup and Europa League after that so it makes sense.Preaching to the choir. I don’t blame Ole. He inherited the mess and it has turned around IMHO.
I think he knows this, but was hoping we’d get lucky with a couple of defensive errors, a moment of magic from Bruno, and we’d cruise. But he has to know that a starting 11 with those four will mean a potentially dreadful performance. Rolled the dice and lost. Oh well. On to the semis.
Who the feck is Tom?The aim of resting players ultimately backfired though didnt it as we had to play an extra half an hour with even Martial coming on in extra time as a desperate 6th substitute.
Flanking Ighalo with both Mata and Lingard, with a midfield of Tom and Fred, that was only going to go one way. There was no creativity, no penetration and it transpired to exactly the sort of stuff we witnessed pre-Bruno - except not even he could save that shower.

Made a thread about him earlier in the season, really hope we bring him in to back Fernandes up. Our current options aren't up to much and he's quality.I haven't seen very many Norwich games, but Cantwell always impresses me
