If I speak I am in big troubleSeriously which player from Sheffield would start in ManUtd?
Their central midfield would have played over ours today no worries.Seriously which player from Sheffield would start in ManUtd?
We have a much much better squad plain and simple, trying to justify Ole is getting more ridiculous as time goes by.
"Best" coaches in the world don't guarantee success, mate, you need solid club structure. Definition of "best" is fluid, but we did have one of the most successful coaches in the world – Mourinho – before this and it was painful to watch. LVG was also very well-decorated coach but his entire reign was even worse than that of Mou.
Sure, Ole lacks experience, but our troubles are FAR from just coach's fault. For us to start winning again, we need footballing-minded management, not that feck Woodward at the helm. Also, Ole may not be the best, but he is no slouch that some people make him sound, either. Remember - we are THE ONLY team that didn't let Liverpool win this season. They won every other match. And honestly - we should have beat them, won that match. Ole makes mistakes, but he isn't an idiot. A lot of instability is due to team being extremely misbalanced. We should have bought some quality midfielders and at least one more striker. When Martial was out and we were without a top striker, we were miserable.

He could have left on free though. We gave him a contract extension on our own will, a 4+1 fecking contract! And people are telling me we cleared the deadwood.to be fair to ole, who would take jones on loan?
I'm not sure it's lowered expectations, as those came after the failure to sign a midfielder in summer. Plus our two best midfielders are out injured.Herein lies the problem.
The club has used OgS’s goodwill with fans to lower expectations to a point of lunacy.
No one expected a title challenge; most thought it would be tough to get top4 but there is no justification for us to be this bad to [hopefully] get better in the future.
Sheff U have done well this season but there is no way a draw away in this given our need for wins is acceptable. OgS has had his good grace with results against Palace, Newcastle et. al. - it is time to show he has learnt & can teach the team where not to go wrong which time & again he fails to do.
I meant when he was playing up top after Martial came off.He literally scored one and assisted in that little period how much more effective do you want him to be?
I agree on most parts, but the Martial sub was on bad timing. Maybe he should have waited to scored the 4th goal and THEN made the sub.Poor Ole.
He’s got a tough away match against a professional, gutty side. His midfield is decimated by injuries, and he has to play two sub par options in Fred and Andreas. Thinking Maguire can step forward and help dictate play as the 3rd CB, he goes with a 3-4-3. It was a disaster. Lucky to go into halftime down only 1-0, frankly. Sheffield United punched us in the mouth, the refereeing was very poor and we didn’t respond.
Switches to 4-3-3 and we start to play better, but Pereira gives the ball away. Goal. Desperate, we then go on to score 3 in 7 minutes against a side that has given up 9 goals all year. What heart! This is what we have been waiting for, a side that fights when down.
Then he gets criticized for bringing on Tuanzebe. I don’t think people realize that every top manager makes that change. We were essentially playing 5 forwards.
VAR goes against us, it was a clear handball. Furthermore, the first SHU goal was a shoulder charge, a clear foul, but since the fat referee was so far away and the linesman was blind/inexperienced, it isn’t whistled.
I literally have seen 6-7 posts from different Neandrathals blaming Ole for picking Pereira and Fred. Who is Ole supposed to play?? Juan Mata? Mata is the last player you want on that pitch against those bruisers. Matic is injured I believe. He’s got nobody to play a midfield 3, and has to trot out Lingard who should never be a part of a midfield 3.
I know the Ole Out faction in the Caf giggles with glee every time we are scored against or we can’t seem to find the goals to win. Sooner we get him out, the better, they say.
I see progress. I see fight and determination. We need two more transfer windows to continue the rebuild. I’m willing to give these kids a chance. One thing Ole has done is changed the culture. We came up short at times today, but the effort was there.
You're right that today doesn't matter. Because whether it's there points or none, Ole isn't becoming good enough for this level anytime soon. Its a long term project but whether that's three years or twenty three depends on the people you have in charge. Ole has done some things fine - such as his signings and his general outlook (youth, pace etc). But in general, in terms of managing/coaching the team, he's extremely mediocre. And I don't see time magically making him good enough. The reason to keep coming back is because this place needs a balance in opinion, and right now the fans that I consider to be toxic are taking over the place.
I have no issue with anyone thinking Ole should leave. None whatsoever. The issue is with people who refuse to have an impartial opinion. Praise the good and the bad or you're just toxic IMO.
I'm certain there are a few fans on here who were pleased to see the equalizer so they could spend the evening spewing all over the forum.
This is a long term project to sort out this football club. What happened today doesnt make a difference really. The squad is being rebuilt, it needs to be rebuilt and patience is required otherwise we just continue to go round in circles as a football club
Replacing Martial with a DMF was wise. We were way out of shape when we threw in 5 attacking players, which was OK when we were chasing a goal or 2 but you can't control a game like that. You can argue whether it should be Martial, James or Rashford but the latter help on the wings.Terrible stuff apart from about 7 minutes. Ole can get praise for some good subs, but taking Martial off when he did, when we were ruining them was moronic, and the killer blow.
Mere excuses.Seriously which player from Sheffield would start in ManUtd?
We have a much much better squad plain and simple, trying to justify Ole is getting more ridiculous as time goes by.
It was these 2 MF, who couldn't protect the ball under pressure, pass the ball to opposition more than our owns, could hardly make a penetrating pass to unlock defence.Plays a 2 man midfield and struggled, what a shock.
I agree 100%Poor Ole.

Cant be serious, Fleek, Norwood or Lundstram wouldnt get a single minute here. They play better than us? Yes they do, but thats on their good coaching against our inexistent coaching, player quality wise we are miles appart.Their central midfield would have played over ours today no worries.
Good post Snow. You're spot on brother. This game had all the emotions. Negative ones for the better part of the game but wow that end. Heartbreaking result.
First half:
3 at the back, alright. Jones back and playing on the left side. Not loving that idea. Pereira and Fred a midfield two, not really the strongest midfield you can ask for.
Sheffield start very strong and De Gea having to be world class is worrying. Jones being bullied is worrying. Unsurprisingly it ends with a goal even though De Gea did as much as he could to stop that. Then the stat comes on the screen "Sheffield haven't lost 89 games in a row (or since 2014) when they've scored first. Great, it's going to be one of those matches. Does not couple well with our dreadful away form under Ole.
Conclusion of the first half: I don't know what I was watching. I don't understand how we were setting up against Sheffield United. It looked like we were trying to play their game but our players were uncomfortable playing that way and Sheffield knew all our weaknesses. The only highlight of the half was being only 0-1 down. Front 3 were absolutely dreadful. The gap between our midfield two and those three was too much to be able to play any football. Pereira was weak, making poor decisions and losing the ball. Jones and Williams looked under pressure.
Second half: Lingard comes on. Not overly optimistic but at least we're changing the tactics. Any optimism that might have been left after the first half was quickly removed. Now we have to score 2 goals against the one of the best defense in the league, one of the most organized teams? I barely remember what happened for the next 15 minutes. I was watching the game taped after a very long game and must have looked like a zombie during that part. Could barely keep myself awake. I remember thinking that James had done nothing right all match and it was a wonder he was still on the pitch. He was poor tracking back, he was static and not available to receive the ball. The few times he got involved he was either very safe or lost the ball easily. Suddenly he finds himself in acres of space and his cross is headed straight to Williams who basically saves our game in one strike. There was nothing going on for us but this rookie hits the finest of strikes and Sheffield are shaken. Maybe they were playing too safely? Maybe they took us for granted in that time? Another impressive Sheffield stat pops up on the screen. "The only team to not concede in the last 15 minutes in the PL". Same thoughts as from their first goal, TV sure is painting a narrative for us. But goals change games and United were just a completely different team after that. It was like a new game. "Why can't we always play like that" is something many of us probably thought. 2-2 Greenwood. 19 and 18 year old homegrown lads have clawed us back into the game. Sublime pass from Rashford for the goal, another homegrown lad. 2 minutes later Rashford himself caps off a wonderful attack. Cue Sir Alex in the stands with his legendary grin. "Like the old days this".
Solskjær has to make a change and put Tuanzebe on because Lingard in MC was comical. Maybe that was a mistake because we should have been more ruthless instead of trying to hold on. This wasn't a hold-on type game. We had been dominated for 70 minutes prior and conceded 2 goals. In order to win this match we had to have the mentality of outscoring the opponent instead of trying to shut him down. Sheffield level. These aren't the old days anymore.
Match conclusion: Both managers leave the match unhappy I imagine. Both sets of fans are unhappy (besides some United fans who are just happy for that little bit of heartpounding). Sheffield because they dominated the match and got only 1 point. United (there's only one United) because they made a great comeback only to squander it. 1 point isn't doing anyone any favors. No one leaves this match on high and satisfied unless maybe Williams who leveled up.
At this moment in time they'd get games over Fred and Andreas as a midfield 2 regardless of coaching.Cant be serious, Fleek, Norwood or Lundstram wouldnt get a single minute here. They play better than us? Yes they do, but thats on their good coaching against our inexistent coaching, player quality wise we are miles appart.
You mean our league one/championship level quality players ?Cant be serious, Fleek, Norwood or Lundstram wouldnt get a single minute here. They play better than us? Yes they do, but thats on their good coaching against our inexistent coaching, player quality wise we are miles appart.
Such an empty, vacuous phrase. One thing Ole has done is changed the culture.
I am definitely not fooled, look I feel sorry for Ole and it isn't his fault that he got appointed on a permanent basis because our board got mesmerised by the PSG comeback.Don't let the comeback or those 10-15 minutes fool you. We were piss poor throughout.
They don't care. Only seeing Ole getting fired is what these people think is best for the club, ignoring all the progress. What does being recently or newly promoted have to do with anything? They have a head coach who has been at the job for more than three full seasons and a stable squad of experienced players. They certainly look better coached but you can’t analyse that as if we were in a vacuum.
Context is always key when moaning or when praising a team. Their total wages may be less but they are vastly more experienced. Wages don’t win you leagues nor does the club name. LCFC had a much lower total wage bill yet they won the league ahead of all the other big name clubs.
Just for reminders, these are their results against the usual top 4/top 6 contenders:
Chelsea A 2-2
Liverpool H 0-1
Arsenal H 1-0
Tottenham A 1-1
United H 3-3
How does that look for a newly promoted side?
Poor Ole.

You said it yourself as a midfield of 2, they might as well play as fullbacks if we are going to blame only the players for playing shitty regardless of the poor tactics, and Sheffield plays with a midfield of three by the way.At this moment in time they'd get games over Fred and Andreas as a midfield 2 regardless of coaching.
Well it's far more difficult with a 2 man midfield. It was these 2 MF, who couldn't protect the ball under pressure, pass the ball to opposition more than our owns, could hardly make a penetrating pass to unlock defence.
McTom is the only MF capable of defending in the middle, Pogba is the only MF capable of making a decent pass. The rest are just passengers.
Literally 7 out of the 11 players that started for Sheffield were championship level until 4 months ago. So yeah none of them would get into our starting XI.You mean our league one/championship level quality players ?
Apart from the dig at Lingard, top post.Poor Ole.

I guess the same happened to Spurs, no wonder Poch was sacked.Literally 7 out of the 11 players that started for Sheffield were championship level until 4 months ago. So yeah none of them would get into our starting XI.
You guys need to stop making excuses for Ole, we could have Manchester City squad and he wouldn’t produce shit, simply because he doesnt coach anything. There’s a difference between a pattern in which players fail due to lack of quality (Norwich for example) and a lack of pattern.
We aren’t lacking quality at the moment, we are lacking proper coaching.
Firstly there’s not even a point in comparing Ole to Poch, they are managers that no one in their right mind would even mention in the same sentence.I guess the same happened to Spurs, no wonder Poch was sacked.
Okay let me put this way, Happy because we didn't win for whatever reason is dump thinking.Never said I was praying for a loss. What a dumb assumption.
