Dreadful performance but great to get Jose's first trophy. I'm confident it won't be the last.

Hopefully Carrick will lift the cup but Rooney's probably got it in his contract.

It's not a Manchester United Finals if it wasn't dramatic and full of up and downs. Love this club! Great job lads!

One of our worse performances this season (possibly better than only Watford 1-3 and Chelsea 0-4) but we won and that's what matters!!!

This was payback for the 2005 FA cup final where we were robbed.

YAS.. a cup win is always welcome even if it is mickey mouse cup.

But this is an eye opener in terms of the load our upcoming match schedule would have on our performances. There is no way we can keep going full throttle in both the league and Europa, let alone FA cup ties mixed in with that.

What an awful performance! Relief when the whistle went Southampton were very unlucky.

Zlatan is amazing.

That was incredibly difficult. Southampton were really good, but we made our moments count.

I'm absolutely ecstatic right now. Everything to do with United feels so good right now. It feels like the start of a new era.

I know some people will talk about our performance being mixed but people have to cut the lads some slacks, we've been playing a lot of football and the guys were quite tired compared to a fresh Southampton.

What the lads showed was the grit and spirit to win despite circumstances which should be applauded.

First of all amazing match. Southampton terrorized us entire game. Ref dreadful, clear goal for Saints disallowed, Romeu elbowing Herrera and not being sent off, that CB trying to kill Martial and getting away with yellow.

Ibrahimovic absolute MOTM, his best performance for us.

Martial, Herrera, Pogba played fantastic.

Respect for Saints players, Mourinho's decision to play first team vs. Etienne almost costed us because we were tired.

First (not included Community shield) of many trophies to come!

GGMU!

feck you whoever wants Top 4 instead of more trophy. This is what Manchester United needs to be. Winning trophies, and trophies, and trophies.

When Puel decided to change Gabbiadini, I started to think that we could win the game

This game explained a lot about that there are players who are simply not good enough

Great match. We were able to win without playing well really... Zlatan was immense when called on.

Our full backs could not handle Southampton at all. They played really well, can tell they have been planning for this.

I was baffled with the Gabbiadini sub.. He looks a great finisher and was a handful all afternoon. That finish!

The performance wasn't there today and all the credit to Southampton. But my goodness. The will of this Jose Mourinho team is tremendous. Led by Zlatan. Pogba. Herrera. They didn't perform well today, but hallmarks of winners, of champions is their will to win and accountability to try to get the result you want.

Soton punched well above their weight today and United were on the canvas for periods of the match, but picked themselves up and came up aces when it mattered.

Haven't seen an effort and will to win and ability to win from a player like Zlatan today in a long, long time.

Last year's FA Cup felt almost like a consolation for the LvG era, whereas we're all hoping this is the start of something special under Mourinho.

Couldn't give a rat arse about the performance. One team played 3 games in 12 days, the other had 2 weeks of rest.

Loved how Zlatan helped us out a few times at the back too.

Ecstatic. That man Ibra is a genius! Forget the performance, loved the resilience by the team. Fantastic.

Loving Mourinho's body language so much. Doesn't look overjoyed, doesn't want the spotlight and looks like this is the very beginning of a project. We'll kick on from this and we'll finish the season strong. Beyond this season, I think we'll achieve so much under Jose.

Happy, relieved and a little drunk, all at once. Only Zlatan, Valencia and maybe Herrera played well. It's going to be a great week!

This is what it's all about. Trophies!

We really got away with it to today. Southampton were brilliant and bossed this game. Without a few moment of class and sheer luck we would have lost this.

We're so reliant on Ibrahimovic, it's scary!

Probably one of our worst performances of the season. Southampton battered us. Great to get the win though. We seem to be starting to find a way to win even when we don't play well now which is good.
