Post-match discussion

I think we'll be eliminated by Celta. Can't give up on the league.
I would imagine Mourinho is very worried by that idea, tbh. If we were 3 points further behind I could see him jacking it in, but as it stands, a few good results and we could fall across the line in 4th. Obviously the nightmare scenario (and I think it might well happen) is that we fall short on both fronts, possibly by reason of spreading ourselves too thinkly across two competitions. If that happens we'll be in for the same season as this time around (Thursday football etc) and everything that goes with it. Not a particularly appealing thought.

Martial made no effort to get out of the way of that shot thats the issue Rooney chose power of placing it incorrect decsion in hindsight but with Martial moving it was going in anyway.

No but Redcafe have burnt Rooney at the stake....

Get out of the way of a shot that was laced at him from three bloody yards? Are you on the sauce?

Missing a load of players but still did not turn up. Rooney giving away that freekick was terrible. They second he gave it away I said it was a goal. Lingard was very poor. Shockingly poor and he is getting a 100,000 a week.

Badly need a striker now.

We will struggle to beat Celta Vigo. Not confident now. Hopefully Smalling or Jones are back.

Mourinho:

Tells you all you need to know.

Honestly hope they're both gone in the summer. We'll see them at Newcastles or some other average teams, constantly injured and poor and then scratch our fecking heads how we've managed to put up with them for so long.

Utter rubbish from the team and more importantly Jose. No life in the players all game yet Jose never seemed to get stuck into them from the sideline. Then he waits until Swansea scores before he brings on someone who can create something in the final third, but by then it was too late. Say what you want about the players and their quality, but for me their attitude is more important and that comes from the manager.

Its the Europa League that has run the players into the ground with the amount games in it. If he concentrated on the home front as myself & others suggested at the beginning of the year, leaving the kids to play in Europe, we would be in a lot better position now. He better hope we win it now, as failure to do so & reach the top four will be a poor season.
We should have thrown Europa from the beginning?

How can a team so good in defence be so poor going forward? And how has this not been addressed all season?

Not just that, all competitions contributed. He should have started rotating way earlier in the season, plus his subs were just appalling this season.

I'd keep one around, just for English home quota rules (that does apply to them, right?) and sell the other. Don't really care which one anymore.

Pisses me off when I see the amount of praise shit players get for 'putting a shift'. I watched Marcelo bail out Madrid yesterday with some beautiful play and a goal any striker would be proud of, then I come in here and read loads of praises for Ashley Yound who can't manage a good cross, but put a good shift and run around a lot. Same goes for Valencia and Darmian. We play two little strikers who are not good in the air, surround them wit a bunch of average and uncreative wingers and fullbacks, spend the whole match hoofing and wonder why we don't score. The most important thing for us this season is the players we let go, too many average players holding us back but playing evergame because they 'work hard' or are home grown or whatever

^

According to various UK press we have about 13 new players coming for next season!
What do you think we are gonna do? Give this lot more chances? Rooney is done, Carrick will proably leave,Ibra will not come back,Fellaini is a waste of space plus Darmian,Young,Jones,Januzaj for sure leaving. De Gea seems to want out also. On top of that we sold 3 players this winter so what do you think will happen? The club has to adress the basic fact that we do not have a squad that´s good enough as clearly seen this season and past ones. How many players do you think would get into the top sides in Europe? Perhaps 2 at most in Pogba and De Gea. That´s how far we have slided backwards and there is only one way to fix that and that´s MONEY.

I'm not actually even upset anymore, we get what we deserve at this stage and that isn't much.

How can a team so good in defence be so poor going forward? And how has this not been addressed all season?
Because we have no balance whatsoever and far too many average players.

More likely we'll see them as key players for whichever teams sign them like Keane and Evans and complain about getting rid.

How is Martial supposed to get out of the way of shot that is hammered straight into him? Please expain.
Duck

My point is Rooney made one mistake and he's crucified yet Martial made one and he's our best player... its absloutlely nuts!

I knew we were going out a shit show today after the City game. It's really hard for teams to switch gear like that, when were basically cowering against City.

Totally agree. Jose sets us up as if we are leading the prem by 15 points.. he needs to grow some cajones , draws are no good when you're chasing. They give you zero impetus , at least a defeat gives you the ' mindset ' to bounce back. 3 points from 6 beats 2 .
Newsflash for jose , we are chasing , we need wins ,setting up not to lose arsenal & spurs will be the act of a coward.

I knew from the start:

Good offensive line , check.
Match against relegation team , check
At Old Trafford , check
Played at 12:00 PM before other matches, check
If we win we move up in the table, check

Ladies and gentelmen, The stage is set for another 1-1 draw !!

That was my post in match thread before the game began by an hour.

We're so predictable in bottling it's unreal.

I know! Had a huge argument with the GF this morning about not doing stuff with her on this lovely sunny Sunday. Had to explain that reading every bit of internet garbage written about us and watching every minute of the build-up is all part of the experience.

We went into slamming doors and silent mode and I was happy when she left the house to go and see some friends so I could down some early beers, watch us cream the Swans (payback for what they've done to us since SAF left) then laugh at City trying deal with the pressure against the "mighty" Boro … then laugh some more at the Arse while keeping one eye on the 'pool meltdown before their game tomorrow.

All fecked up! I can't watch City, Spurs or even Arsenal play after that performance, it'd just be too demoralising! I just wish I'd gone out with her now, but can't jump in the car to go and meet her as I've had a few and not sure I'd be too polite to her "bitch" friends anyway. To make it worse … I don't know if I can even be bothered to have a wank!

Do these footballers know what they put us through … really?

Pretty much the same. Grief over not doing other stuff followed by remorse on my part for not doing the other stuff. I genuinely think I'd have had more fun looking at table cloths in John Lewis which was the alternative.

That's a little insulting. I would have probably failed to bite my tongue and would have made a really snarky comment back. Kudos for your self control.

Snark is what she does best pal. Hard. Work.

Well... That's helped us a bit and our monumental feck up.

Because people might be judging them on what each offered other than the mistakes? Not even sure you can call Martial's incident a mistake anyway.

It's almost as if a football match consists of more than just mistakes.

Yeah, let's blame Shaw who got injured after 10 minutes.

He always gets injurred, feck him, been carrying him for 3 years now and what has he done to earn his big contract ? Nothing beside being injurred and getting injurred.

He is just as bad as Jones and Smalling

Martial named man of the match on here but blocked Rooney's point blank range shot that would have took his goal tally to two BUT Rooney was awful and is useless?? The mind boggles.

Rooney had a chance today to prove that he could be the man to provide that link from defence to attack in Pogba's absence, but he predictably failed. He was a non entity from start to finish.

Doubt we will see him in a united shirt ever again after that display.
