I actually like the player and wouldn't mind him either and he could be one of those players where everything might just click oneday because talent is definitely there but his huge loan fee is an issue .
Personally I don’t like him. He’s all flash and no substance. But like I said he’s better than nobody / the glass man. Having said that, I have to clarify that I didn’t actually mean Felix but rather a deal like that of his but obviously cheaper.

I suppose we won’t add anyone till Martial leaves.

It seems likely at the moment , but I don't believe we could get any body decent on loan any way unless it comes with obligation to buy I wouldn't be against it if we can find the funds and outside of CM it should be priority now .

If we don't sign a striker, then Sesko needs to be the big transfer next season. He is already shpwing great performances for Leipzig and imo he has a much higher ceiling than Hojlund.

Do we all agree if we don't sign a striker/goalscorer then we are kind of fecked?

Like clearly we are short and ETH by all reports was planning on having MG to call on

Add to that Martial is insanely injury prone and Hojlund is an unknown who reportedly will only be able to play one game a week for the foreseeable future.

If we don't sign another striker we could very likely end up playing around 50% of the season with no striker whatsoever.

And Rashford is not capable of doing a job at striker despite some claiming that he can

Yea for me this and CM are the two positions we need players before the window closes.

Going into the season with two recognized strikers and knowing Martial will get injured before long is basically suicide.

I don't know who is available but we need a decent striker with some experience who can bring us 10-15 goals or the season will end badly.

We need someone who can actually finish
I know it's a little bit controversial but Wout maybe did help just being the right shape and a specialist.
Now of course if we could get a big boy that can score a couple that'd be royal.

I agree, he brought one aspect to the forward line we needed - he just lacked the most important part, the goals.

Hojlund when fit should do that role very well, but it's clear we can't depend him immediately and Rashford is rubbish through the middle.

Depending what sort of £ it’d cost, Kyogo from Celtic would be a good option to have alongside Hojlund imo.

If we do sign one, lets face it it is either a loan deal or a cheaper option I would have thought at this point and with the priority being a cm and maybe still a CB.

We look to have signed a big, strong, fast proper striker in Hoijlund, only time will tell. SO for me the back up striker is someone to bring alongside him chasing a game or a differnt option.

I think someone quick and exciting and a younger option and Gift Oban ticks all of those boxes.

Really dont see many other options at this point, our own league is too expensive, dont like the idea of another stop gap

We aren’t singing anyone to replace Greenwood, as Hojlund was already his replacement.
That's not true at all. The manager had obviously been told at the beginning of the summer that they were going to bring Greenwood back, so he'd be available to play at some point this season.

Now that's not happening, he's down an attacker he planned to have.

What about this Vangelis Pavlidis in AZ Alkmaar? Seems to have decent stats and Transfermarkt have him at 14m pounds? Has been linked with Roma

It won't make a fecking difference now though will it?! He can't play for another 5 months! It would make absolutely no sense at all, other than to appease you, apparently.
The benefit is that it prevents him being nabbed by another team. Considering there are lots of misfiring teams in the league/teams without dedicated strikers, I would imagine some will be looking at him anyway.

However, I've cooled my interest over him since his situation came to light. The last thing we need at our club is another controversial player or a player with recent issues, even though they're obviously a different kind of 'issue' to the ones surrounding the club this week. Unfortunately, I think he's screwed himself out of a big move at the peak of his career.

What do we do with Hojlund then?

All top teams have competition for places. At the moment our striker situation is:

Hojlund - injured
Martial - permanently injured
Greenwood - looking for a new club
Rashford - rubbish as a number 9
Hugill - 0 first team goals
Mcneill - 0 first team goals
Maguire - knows where the goal is, just the wrong one

I'd rather play McTominay up front than stick Marcus there on the weekend or have to watch Martial jog about for 57 minutes before being subbed off for Garnacho

What about Toney as proven goalscorer in this league which takes pressure off Rasmus

Jeez that is some grim reading but the brutal reality of our striker situation right now
