HOW ARE THE FIXTURES COMPILED?

The full fixture list is produced by veteran compiler Glenn Thompson, of Atos, who has fulfilled the role since the Premier League’s inception in 1992.

Speaking to PremierLeague.com, he explained that clubs can submit specific requests and are sent a form asking them if there are any dates they don’t wish to be at home, which club they want to pair with and if there are any teams they don’t wish to play at home on Boxing Day.

He added that most clubs have a partner club they cannot clash with, so United cannot play at home on the same day as cross-city rivals Manchester City.

There are also “golden rules” in terms of sequencing matches, where in any block of five matches, each club should play three at home and two away, or vice versa. However, the fixture list is also determined by FIFA’s international calendar, UEFA’s European calendar and dates from the Football Association and EFL for domestic cup competitions, as well as input from broadcasters and police when it comes to scheduling and kick-off times.

Hopefully some relegation team at home to start the season.

The only thing certain is that Spurs will play our first few games away from home to allow completion of the finishing touches on our new stadium. Our first home game should be the first league match after the September international break.

We must get off to a good start like last season, but keep it going and not go defensive when we meet one of the top 4 teams.

I bet you're excited - have you got a season ticket for the new stadium? ❤

I heard maybe you're going back to Wembley for the first game?

Some potential banana skins early doors

 To be fair, just negative thoughts. Any game in this league can be a slip up these days

Not bad that. Big games all nicely spaced out, fairly easy run in, even the Anfield trip is sandwiched between two promoted teams.

That's a very good fixture list. We get City and Liverpool away in the first half of the season as well.

Fulham home twice? Seems unfair.

Liverpool is going to be first game at Spurs new ground. It was meant to be Fulham in gameweek 2, but they will have to play that one at Wembley due to construction delays.

Look at this for City

August
11: Arsenal (a)
18: Huddersfield (h)
25: Wolves (a)
September
1: Newcastle (h)
15: Fulham (h)
22: Cardiff (a)
29: Brighton (h)
October
6: Liverpool (a)
20: Burnley (h)
27: Tottenham (a)

Lot of early tests for them, while they comfortably wiped the floor with Spurs at Wembley Spurs away has been their undoing 2 of the last 3 seasons as has been their trips to Anfield, will be interesting if they can survive all of those

I got a little confused by that, thought Spurs were playing first three away games first. Suppose Fulham could just test out playing at Wembley themselves so that's another away game.

It looks like a tough October but very easy September. They'll smash everyone from Huddersfield to Brighton.

Anyone added CL and cup dates into our list yet? Interested to see where our bigger games fall alongside these.

Home games to begin and end with is nice. Hopefully we'll see Sir Alex against Leicester!

No fecking this up, Jose. Couldn't have hoped for a better looking set of fixtures, even though everyone ends up playing everyone.

No nightmare back to back away days against the big boys.
