Give me one once a month when it happens when it matters in the CL rather than one every other week against the dross of the PL. 3-0 or 6-0 doesn’t make a big difference. That day is so incredibly rare for Liverpool, though, but City pulled off those performances every week during their title-winning seasons, and that was without the aid an injury-immune team and VAR.
There is a clear difference in class between you both.
Have you been terrifying and marvelling in the CL this season do you feel?Give me one once a month when it happens when it matters in the CL rather than one every other week against the dross of the PL. 3-0 or 6-0 doesn’t make a big difference.
And that also wasn’t what I was replying to. The point was that there isn’t a debate “on their day” when there clearly is, and it’s 50/50 in fact.
My primary engagement in the debate was about the best team. I believe Liverpool have been the best team. The debate digressed a tad.I've asked you a question that three posts later you've failed to expand upon.
So was the performance against Palace terrifying and marvelling in your opinion? As I said to Klopper it didn't feel like it. I assumed a terrifying and marvelling performance was one like the ones referenced i.e. Barca last season.
Those kind of performances are ridiculous one offs though. Even City don’t do that every week.I ask as I don't recall it being a terrifying and marvelling performance if I'm honest. An easy win yes but I assumed we were talking about the kind of performance you put in against Barca etc last season.
Surely you see the difference? I haven't seen much of that this season. You're undoubtedly less entertaining to watch.
Maybe. Will be amazed if they dont strenghen/refresh their team though.48% of Liverpool's 29 victories this season came via the skin of their teeth, by a single goal. A lot of those games could've gone either way, or could've easily been points dropped. A lot of their games they have literally scraped through by the brilliance of a single player or the opposition being wasteful.
In comparison, 20% of our victories have come by a single goal.
24% of all of City's PL victories have been with a single goal difference.
I think Liverpool will find it a lot more difficult next season and a lot of those single-goal victories will be draws/ losses.
I believe my previous and subsequent posts illustrated my reasoning for posting 23 points - it wasn’t in isolation; part of a broader debate. And I'm not sure what kind of debate you seek when your reply to someone earlier was 23 points. Insightful stuff.
Of course you're the best. You won the league. Table doesn't lie. The other poster is more than entitled to say he thinks City are better though. Obviously they haven't been over a full season or you wouldn't be top but it's possible to have that opinion. Especially after seeing what they did to you last week.My primary engagement in the debate was about the best team. I believe Liverpool have been the best team. The debate digressed a tad.
You’ve offered subjective adjectives to define a top top performance of which I’m unlikely to convince you of. The dominance Liverpool showed and comments from the Palace coaching team indicate it was all the things you’ve described. Fair enough if you don’t agree.
This is fair but as I say I think you had far more of these performances last season and don't remember as many this. Wouldn't you agree? Those kind of performances are ridiculous one offs though. Even City don’t do that every week.
We’re more conservative and try to control games imo but that’s not to say we never dominate games. City are better at cutting teams open and easier on the eye, but they’ve had several games where they’ve lost control and lost out as a result.
I think we handle those moments better than they do.
They’re more entertaining to watch.
Not really a debate that is it.I believe my previous and subsequent posts illustrated my reasoning for posting 23 points - it wasn’t in isolation; part of a broader debate.
Literally the only point I was debating, in truth.Of course you're the best.
Aye definitely. Hassenhuttl is a quality manager, I think the 9-0 hammering from Leicester sticks in peoples mind and think they’ll be a walk over far from it going off their recent performances.Southampton have potential to be a very tough game in our run in.
We should be alright. Plus its at OT.Southampton have potential to be a very tough game in our run in.
We have the potential to give them a real battering. They're safe anyway why would they come to OT and risk all out attack?Southampton have potential to be a very tough game in our run in.
City at home comes to mind. Not sure what you’re arguing against here - I said we rival them “on our day”, nothing more than that. It didn’t happen very often this season. But still rather incredibly consistent and winning almost every game rather than “on your day” every few games but dropping points left righ and centre when you’re not.Of course you're the best. You won the league. Table doesn't lie. The other poster is more than entitled to say he thinks City are better though. Obviously they haven't been over a full season or you wouldn't be top but it's possible to have that opinion. Especially after seeing what they did to you last week.
I used the adjectives that @RobinLFC used. Terrifying and marvelling. I also used the examples he gave. I didn't particularly see the palace game as falling into the bracket myself and I don't feel you've given many of those performances this season. Which is why I was asking.
They won’t all out attack, they will park the bus and hit us on the counter like they are doing to City here.We have the potential to give them a real battering. They're safe anyway why would they come to OT and risk all out attack?
Oh we definitely have and are favourites. They just have enough quality that you can't afford to have an off day against them.We have the potential to give them a real battering. They're safe anyway why would they come to OT and risk all out attack?
That doesn't explain why you took such issue with someone suggesting that prefer city.Literally the only point I was debating, in truth.
We agree.
Yeah they really turned it around from that performance. Funnily enough that result is screwing us over at the moment because its the main reason for Leicester being ahead of us on goal difference.Aye definitely. Hassenhuttl is a quality manager, I think the 9-0 hammering from Leicester sticks in peoples mind and think they’ll be a walk over far from it going off their recent performances.
My point was pretty simple in the sense I don't feel you have been playing that brand of terrifying and marvelling football much at all this season. I'd actually say you looked a much better and entertaining team last season. From a rival point of view this is a good thing as you don't look as untouchable as you did and despite the well deserved title as pointed out close to half of the games you've won have been within a one goal margin.City at home comes to mind. Not sure what you’re arguing against here - I said we rival them “on our day”, nothing more than that. It didn’t happen very often this season. But still rather incredibly consistent and winning almost every game rather than “on your day” every few games but dropping points left righ and centre when you’re not.
The initial statement I replied to was over the top and I simply disagree with it still. If you wanna jump in to discuss other stuff, go ahead.
Indeed. Plus Aguero is infinitely better than Jesus.KDB really does take City to another level.
I find city play much better and attractive football. You guys play efficient football. It's just matter of opinion, no need to get worked up for that.
Man City and Liverpool are 1 and 1A to me. Whichever order you put them in really depends on the season. I actually find Man City more dangerous offensively as they just dominate and overwhelm teams from midfield onwards. They have the ability to just batter teams and run up the scoreline hence the huge goal difference. A lot of Liverpool's wins this season have been by one goal. This is why I think the bookies still favor Man City slightly for individual games. The 23 point gap between Liverpool and Man City is a reflection of the difference defensively between the two teams where this season, it hasn't even close between the two teams. Man City are going into games needed a minimum of 2-3 goals to come away with 3 points whereas Liverpool know they just need the 1.Hard to dissect Liverpool and City, I'd consider City to play the better football but Liverpool have a much stronger spirit as a team. It has to be considered that they've grinded most results this season playing average, that is a sign of a great team.
City or Pep more specifically seems to lack consistency especially in European competition. The only trajectory that will see City have the continual upper hand is the financial prowess. Just as likely however I feel Liverpool will struggle if Klopp decides to call quits.
To be fair, Danny Ings is infinitely better then JesusIndeed. Plus Aguero is infinitely better than Jesus.
