Tech more important than games for you then?

Well I'd play all the multi formats on Xbox as I find Xbox live to be better. Whilst sticking with Sony for the exclusives.

That's fair enough, dunno if I'd drop 4-5 bills to do that.... I'm pretty happy with OG PS4/PSVR. It'll take a lot to get me to get another XBox (buy another wheel, controller, pay for live etc...). It's possible tho... Just not very likely.Well I'd play all the multi formats on Xbox as I find Xbox live to be better. Whilst sticking with Sony for the exclusives.
Set during a single, endlessly-looping day within “The Sexy Brutale” – a stately English mansion converted into a bizarre casino and named by the enigmatic Marquis – players take on the role of elderly priest Lafcadio Boone. To progress, Boone must hide, watch and learn the colorful stories of the other guests at the ball in order to save them from grisly deaths at the hands of the mansion’s staff.
By discovering the key moments and methods how each guest can be saved and gaining occult-seeming powers linked to their masks, Lafcadio is able to explore deeper and deeper into the mysteries of the mansion’s past and inhabitants to uncover the truth hidden at the heart of The Sexy Brutale.
===
- Unique “Groundhog Day” puzzle concept – hours of gameplay exploring a single day from different perspectives and locations
- Watch, listen and learn until you are ready to act to save each guest from murder
- Multiple distinct areas of the mansion to explore, each with its own scenario, characters and puzzles
- Darkly-humorous murder-mystery story spanning the entire mansion
- Exotic cast of characters, including 9 guests
- Acquire special powers by saving victims to progress deeper into the mansion and uncover the secret at the heart of The Sexy Brutale
Join the never-ending masked ball at “The Sexy Brutale” casino mansion – a puzzle-and-adventure game featuring intrigue, murder and the (quite-possibly) occult!
The enigmatic Marquis – owner and maestro of the mansion – appears to be missing from his own party. In his absence, his guests are being murdered by mansion’s staff in a range of bizarre and horrifying ways.
As elderly priest Lafcadio Boone, you seem to be protected from some of the worst dangers in the mansion. It falls to you to explore deep into the mansion, saving the guests and uncovering the terrible secrets in the darkest heart of the The Sexy Brutale…
ACG - "Easily A Buy"
"There is so much here that is enjoyable to do, so much to explore. And while it doesn't have anything more than a second or third playthrough replayability, that's more than enough for the price that they're asking, at how many hours of enjoyment you're going to get through this. It's really a different style of puzzle game and it really surprised me
....It really was, just simply, a blast. I never expected to like it as much as I did..."

Blast it all if it isn’t another impeccable entry in a year swarming with quality already. I fear this one will get lost in the shuffle of big budget games, but make no mistake – The Sexy Brutale deserves as much attention as any Horizon, Zelda, Nioh or Persona.
Hardcore Gamer - 4.5/5
In the end, The Sexy Brutale is a marvelous and unique delight of a murder mystery, one you’ll have walked away from feeling shocked over what exactly you just saw play out in the story, satisfied over the challenging puzzles you’ll have solved to help out each masked guest, and dazzled over the vibrant and mesmerizing aesthetics.
Push Square - 9/10
The Sexy Brutale is a very different type of game to anything on the PS4 currently, taking up a Groundhog Day-style in gameplay that is excellently executed. The game is perfectly presented with outstanding audio and visuals that are able to switch the tone of the story from being joyfully upbeat to a very dark within a matter of moments. The story does a great job of keeping you fixated on looking for answers from beginning to end and its conclusion will leave you more than satisfied with your time spent solving its interestingly intricate puzzles.
PSU - 8.5/10
Awash in a frankly ridiculous amount of charm and bolstered by a genuinely innovative time travel mechanic, The Sexy Brutale is one of the most deliciously refreshing puzzlers to come along in a good long while
IGN - 8.2/10
Every murder The Sexy Brutale includes is uniquely fascinating to investigate, with the central loop of searching for clues and executing a plan to alter time continually engaging. I found Boone’s quest so fascinating, the Brutale’s secrets so alluring, and its world so charming that I rewound the clock just to spend a few more days in Lafcadio’s beautiful nightmare.
Destructoid - 8/10
Though The Sexy Brutale fumbles a few times -- especially near the end when it rushes toward a narrative payoff -- it never hurts the experience. Uncovering the mansion's secrets and the twisted plot that dooms its guests is exciting. Compared to almost any other puzzle game, The Sexy Brutale's dark tone and inspired art stand out from the crowd. Solving murder might not be the most cheerful work, but it's one hell of a good time.
Playstation Lifestyle - 8/10
When it comes to love letters to an era of gaming long since passed, you would be hard pressed to find something more heartfelt than The Sexy Brutale. It offers up a modern take on an extremely dated design, all made palatable with the help of time-travel. While this affectionate note may have a few typos, mainly in the form of puzzles with obtuse leaps in logic, it’s hardly enough to detract from the deep-seeded sincerity sprinkled throughout the experience. This is one sexy experience, indeed
Wccftech - 8/10
While I may have some minor gripes with The Sexy Brutale, I think it’s a wonderful puzzle game, one that’ll really reward your time. The mansion is smartly designed, harking to the intelligently planned Spencer Mansion of Resident Evil, and the way you learn about characters is inspired by one of the most unique aspects of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. The Sexy Brutale has bombastic music, a great cast, and some very satisfying puzzles. While not outstanding, it’s well worth your time.
Both the Xbox and PS4 need more survival games. The PC has loads of them - Rust, Day Z, that new Battle Royale (Player Unknown or something) one that just got released and has already shifted a million downloads.
I lose myself in games like Rust for days sometimes. I mean, the PS4 exclusives are good (I own a gaming PC and all current gen consoles) but they are usually overrated single player experiences (Uncharted, Zero Dawn).
Give us some edgy online-only stuff please Sony/MS. Ark has been a huge success on both consoles.
Ark is great with a group of friends, same goes for Rust etc.I tried ark and couldn't really understand it or seem to do anything on it, never really tried survival games much but i do love the SP experience of games anyway.
Consoles could do with a proper mmorpg like WoW though. That game has stood the test of time. It's still got a pretty huge player base. Obviously translating that kind of game to console would be difficult due to restrictions on controls.
This thread gives me jokes. We'll need a new one in a few years.
I just bought playstation network card for the first time in ages, not sure why ? From what l remember of online gaming it's full of racist and sexist trolls who disconnect when they are losing.
Tell me it's changed for the better.

*
* Next gen will be the best!
* Microsoft have some Bombs to drop in the next months, crazy gooseberry fools are happening, games you expect, some games you don't expect at all, some BIG Acquisition, some Big crazy Services and much more.
* I want to tell a lot more things, but i don't want to drop all the surprises.
* I know some of you don't believe now, but as soon as possible a lot of this will come to the light.
*
* I hope everyone here have a good day!

Need to see exclusives or its a bust imo.Rumoured Specs for the next gen consoles. Backed up by a few insiders.

Bayonetta as an ip is completely owned by Nintendo now, so no way.I'll be fecking gutted if Microsoft acquire Platinum...
...
Actually, they're putting a lot of their stuff on PC nowadays anyway, so yeah, Bayo 4 PC? I wanna believe.

I disagree, console wars only help with getting better quality games, we see that with the Switch and the PS4, Xbox has gamepass which can count as an exclusive I guess? And I don't know what apple have to do with gaming. They all need to stop fecking around with exclusives and make better machines which you can play across platform with your friends. Console wars are feckng boring and brand loyalty to tech giants like Microsoft, Apple or Sony is beyond moronic.

Ok so I havent really been following this thread but I've always been a build my own pc guy but it's just not as convenient as consoles. Especially with little ones around. Is it still worth it to get a PS4 or Xbox One now or just wait for next gen at this pt? I haven't owned a console since the SNES days.
It's not on the companies, it's on those people, but you seem passionate enough about your opinion on this so I'll leave it at that.Because it's the same type of cult. Consumers gleefully handing over fistfuls of cash and acting as a brand advocate for a company who could not give less of a shit about them. It's nonsense, there's 300 pages here of people flaming each other like their mothers were Sony and Microsoft. It's exactly what they want. Did console wars help make better games? Or did it just encourage Sony to buy up all the smaller companies along with EA and hoard properties? You do not make better anything by slapping a patent on it.
I started this gen on PC and PS4 but will end it on PC and Xbox One X.
I’ve been well impressed with the X and I plan on staying with Xbox next gen. The future seems bright with the latest studio acquisitions.
Xbox One X
Eight evolved AMD Jaguar x86 cores at 2.3GHz
40 customised compute units at 1172MHz
6.0TF
12GB GDDR5
326GB/s
PS4 Pro
Eight AMD Jaguar x86 cores at 2.1GHz
36 'improved' GCB compute units at 911MHz
4.2TF
8GB GDDR5
218GB/s
PlayStation 4
Eight AMD Jaguar x86 cores at 1.6GHz
18 GCN compute units at 800MHz
1.84TF
8GB GDDR5
176GB/s
Xbox One
Eight AMD Jaguar x86 cores at 1.75GHz
12 GCN compute units at 853MHz (Xbox One S: 914MHz)
1.31TF (Xbox One S: 1.4TF)
8GB DDR3/32MB ESRAM
DDR3: 68GB/s, ESRAM at max 204GB/s (Xbox One S: 219GB/s)
My point is I'm not going to drop 4/5 bills on something that's marginally more powerful than current gen XB1X. I probably should have just said that....All those numbers are pointless mumbo jumbo to me.
Graphics are eye-meltingly gorgeous these days anyway so I don't see how they can be much improved really.
I suppose 60FPS will be the big thing, will they both be hitting that? If so, teraflops and gigawanks don't matter. It's all games, games, games.
8+ TF for PS5?
Cant see it...
10-12+ TF or bust for both imo.
For context:
If that ends up being the PS5 specs I'll end up on NextBox next gen, although that would depend on MS VR plans. Otherwise I just wont bother with either... maybe dig back into PC gaming. Long time to go yet.... and I think most of the leaks are guesses atm.
Can you expand on that? I was thinking Xbox has been a bit rubbish, but if they're likely to get quality exclusives I'd stay with it.
There's a leak nearly every other day atm. So I'm dismissive because it's most likely bollocks (VR needs power). Believe it if you want to....
PSVR is leading right now (more PSVR sold than all PCVR combined last I checked), they have the software but the hardware is a level below. I'd prefer to stay with PSVR tbh, not to mention the expense of it all... fecking hell.If you want proper VR then get a PC.
The power is at the console, not the (tethered) headset. We have a decent idea what specs we need to run VR software like Insomniac's Stormlands. What do you mean VR needs power? The next PS VR isn’t going to be some super powerful VR kit that those specs can’t run. It has to be a modest price so the specs will be modest because nobody is going to pay £400 for a new console and then £350 for a VR kit.
No competition = no games like GOW and BOTWRemove exclusives? Has to be one of the stupid things I read in this thread and there have been a lot.
Manufactures competing against each other is important for consumers. Them joining forces isn’t so great.
I can understand people wanting multi platforms as cross play and I’m one of those people.
But exclusives are what defines consoles.

Also don't hold your breath on 60fps![]()

Anyway, IMO:
PS5 comes out 2020 (and is 10+ TF)
PSVR2 comes out a couple years after. No one wants to pay 4/5 bills for a console and then spend 3/4 bills on a headset.
PSVR will be compatible with it early doors so no need for PSVR2 at launch. It will also play PS4 PSVR games and people will be able to upgrade once the PSVR2 headset drops, in their own time.

If they want to at least attempt to keep up with PC there's no point half arsing it. Let's see how it goes...
What shocks me is how they've not tried to just do 60fps....
I switched to PC this year and the difference is crazy. I mean, I play at more than 60, but still.
I found an old Sega Saturn game, so a 20yr old game, and it was advertising 30fps back then. How hasn't it changed...
