QPR have had a lot of time to prepare for this... and they have a decent squad on paper.

Wont be as easy as Top v Bottom... but then I'd expect us to win.

Amidst squeaky bums.
de Gea

Rafael
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra

Nani
Carrick
Cleverley
Giggs

Rooney
van Persie

SUBS: Lindegaard, Smalling, Valencia, Young, Anderson, Kagawa, Hernandez.

Although part of me really wants to see Vidic involved again: a) to give his knee a test of playing two games in a week and b) because he's simply been monstrous since he's been back. Welbeck's a difficult one to leave out altogether but after two 90 minutes in five days he may get a rest.

Nani must surely start this game, I will be amazed if SAF picks Valencia over him after the performance against Reading. Big game this to be fair, QPR will be battling for the points and it gives us the chance to open the gap to 15 points at least until City play Chelsea on Sunday.

Basically I just wrote this to get Nani in the team. Please start Nani.

QPR have improved defensively off late (other than the Swansea game) so this won't be an easy game at all.

I expect Nani to start but have an absolute stinker. Seems to be the pattern.

As another poster said, this won't be as easy as top vs bottom. I think QPR might fight to a draw.

This is it for me. The equivalent of the Everton game last season - the one where if we win I think the race is over. Take 3 points, up the lead and force City to react to a pretty good Chelsea side on Sunday.

Unfortunately we're Manchester United and we never do things the easy way, so I fully expect us to make a meal of this run in :(

this. especially about the vidic part. want to see him alongside rio again. but evans is arguably our most consistent CB for quite sometime now so i would not mind him at all.

I can see this being a draw. QPR are fighting for their lives now under Redknapp and their crowd will be well up for this one.

I'd expect Nani and Kagawa to start, maybe even Vidic if he is to miss Norwich for the Madrid game.

DDG Rafael Evans Vidic Evra Nani Carrick Giggs Kagawa RVP Rooney
(I'd rather not have Giggs in central midfield, but he will be at some point in the game).

Can't see Welbeck featuring at all - he's played 2 full games. Expect Valencia, Cleverly and Hernandez off the bench injuries permitting.

Vidic will play this to deal with Samba on corners/set pieces.

Monday to Saturday recovery time may put a doubt though. Hasn't played 2 games back to back on such short notice since his injury.

Should be full strength here, with the game basically being a whole week after today and a whole week before Norwich.

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Nani Carrick Cleverley Kagawa
Rooney Van Persie

Either Kagawa or Giggs for the left wing position. Been dying to see us use this lineup all season, but with Nani/Vidic being injured for much of the season, we haven't been able to. Anderson and Hernandez will probably get subbed on, as both have a very strong case to get a start as well.
Potentially opening up a 15 point gap here, with City playing against Chelsea that weekend.

It seems like a good while since we had a Saturday 3pm kick off. It's nice.

We also have a game against Norwich the weekend after before the Madrid game, so I doubt the lineup we put against QPR will have anything to do with the Madrid team.

I will go with this too. I expect some of the players who will potentially be taking part in the Madrid match two weeks from now (Rafael, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Kagawa, Rooney) will be involved in this game, but won't be used against Norwich. I'd really like to see Nani in the starting lineup against QPR after an excellent outing yesterday. I hope we secure a win in this match to sustain the pressure on City and to maintain the sizeable twelve point cushion which would facilitate advantageous player rotations in preparation for the all-important, upcoming Champions League game.

We have to start with our best team. We have a full week before the game after this one, at OT against Norwich, which is followed by the UCL game. So any changes and rests should be done in the Norwich game.
I also want Anderson to be given a chance in this one. With Jones injured, Anderson can play that man-marking role. His physical and energetic style makes it suitable for him to do a job on Ronaldo. So it is important that he starts another game before the madrid match.
Nani has to start. Young looked decent too.
So my line up would be:

DDG
Rafael--Rio--Vida--Evra
--carrick----ando------
-nani----rooney--young

I don't think Anderson would do a particularly good job man-marking. He doesn't seem to have the same tactical awareness when defending as he does when going forward.

Anyhow, I hope we see him against QPR:

Don't think so, no. Loaned players aren't eligible in matches against the parent club usually.

Hope we stuff them though.
Thanks. Thought that would be the case. Would have been entertaining to see the twins come up against each other though

I am always jittery against relegation threatened opposition at this stage of the season. We should be more than good enough to get a win, though I don't expect a very comfortable outing on Saturday.

I guess the team pretty much picks itself:

De Gea
Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Nani Kagawa Young
RVP

Bench: Lindegaard, Smalling, Giggs, Welbeck, Hernandez, Anderson, Valencia

QPR 1 - United 2.

If Rooney is fit then I expect him to start with Young on the bench.

No reason at all not to play the best team for this one.

QPR despite some crap results were having a minor resurgence and will be tight to break down.
Need to be on our game to benefit from any possible slip City might make against Chelsea.
If we can have a chance of increasing that 12 point lead that'll really kill them dead, and let us rest a lot of players v Norwich at home the following week.

I have a bad feeling about this. QPR need the points desperately and we'll be concentrating on Madrid mostly.

Agree with everyone that has a bad feeling. 'Arry will have them up for this, and they'll undoubtedly raise their game against us. We need our full strength side out for this one, and then we can rotate the side the following weekend for the Norwich game.

We wont be playing Madrid for another 10-11 days.

They are bottom for a reason..
We'll win and Chelsea will beat City..
