According to The Independent, United are closing in on a £10 million deal for Ricardo Quaresma. Talks expected next week with Sporting Lisbon. His agent has confirmed that negotiations are at an advanced stage.

I know he's supposed to be the new Figo. Has anyone seen him play?

In the article, it says he can play on the right or the left. Do you know where he normally plays?

This from the same article:
United will also sign the French forward, David Bellion, from Sunderland once his contract expires. A deal is set up for the pacy attacker although the price may be settled by tribunal. Unlike Quaresma, who is the type of eye-ctaching player who can walk into the side, Bellion is likely to be a squad man.

United do not need a "squad" striker (Ole and Forland are that)...they need a playmaking striker...a world class player that can change matches with one clever pass or accurate shot...

Ole a squad striker?

"World class" players don´t grow on trees and there´s only a handful of them in Europe.

thinking about it today(yes I have too much spare time on my hands at work), my 3 wishes were for Quaresma, Ronaldinho and for a world class defensive mid(with Keane dropping back to defense). Too hard to name a top defensive mid who is available though.

I was gonna draw comparisons with the 3 buys we made in the summer of '99 and everything(Ronaldinho=Yorke, Quaresma=Blomqvist, Def mid=Stam). Couldn't be arsed to type it all out though. :D

If we got £30 million+ for Becks, I would seriously go to Arsenal with the lot and say give us Vieira.

Well, yes, I know that! :) What I'm wondering is, if this story is true, it might be an indication as to whether or not Becks or Giggsy is leaving this summer. Can't imagine we'd buy him for him to sit on the bench. I assume he's got 2 good feet if he plays on both sides, but he must have a preference for either the right or left wing.

Because he's got failure written all over him. I thought he was nothing special in the world cup and his attitude seems to leave alot to be desired.

Trezeguet was shit in the world cup, hern ywas shit in the world cup etc., u cant go off world-cups. Ive seen him play for PSG and believe me, he is absolute fecking quality. If his attitude could be ironed out then he'll be perfect.

I reckon we could get him for less than 20...perhaps 15.

remeber, not many clubs are in the position to spend BIG...thus transfer fees have come down..

btw-Ronaldhino or a fit Ronaldo, who would people on here prefer??

I hope he's got 2 feet otherwise £10 million seems an awful lot.

I think this, coupled with Ole playing on the right more and more is a clear indication we are looking at life after Becks.

actually i would think the player on the other wing would be more at threat. If this story is true, id see it as the nail in the coffin for a deal to take becks to madrid

I'm getting more and more worried that these stories about Becks leaving is true.

Being on the bench for last night's match would have been really tough on him. Ole deserved to play. And I can't even argue against Fergie's decision to play Seba ahead of Becks. But from Becks' perspective, he'd be thinking that Seba's been out injured for weeks, wasn't match fit...and the manager still rated an unfit Seba over him. He has to be questioning his future at United.

I agree with you Red15. He has been left on the bench for the 2 biggest games of our season so far. In the past I have dismissed all the rumours linking him to Italy or Barca as crap. But this one appears to have more credibility, and we all know what Real are like when they set their target on a player. They rarely miss out.
