This is great news!
Glad to see we are starting to act like an organised club.
Give the man full control.
Let him do his thing.
I was initially worried regarding ETH coming in to this shitshow but with this appointment the set up will work wonders for any incoming manager.
Either ETH or Poch should benefit hugely!

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Ten Hag philosophy is that of also intense pressing. And there are not really any German perspective coaches at the moment. Klopp is at Liveprool, Tuchel at Chelsea and Nagelsmann at Bayern. No other coach has United-tier credentials to take over the job. Ten Hag fits the philosophy of gegenpressing as much as anybody. He's also Dutch, so it's close enough ; )

I think Rangnick could be a segue to either Poch or Ten Hag. Ten Hag is more Cruff while Poch is more Bielsa, but in both cases there's more than enough overlap that they could pick up the reigns from Rangnick.

Genuinely keen to see if he can make some of our mediocre players punch above their weight class.

Or they will be gone as he is going to be here for 2 and a half years.

Martial, AWB, Maguire, Mctominay are officially on notice.

6 minutes of him talking got me believing again!
For sure. When he mentions the intensity of winning the ball back and just the desire in general it had me thinking of players who may not have been the best technically but were just giving it their all for the club. Players like Rafael, Park Ji Sung, Herrera, Rojo... those types. I am sure if they were still here he would make them look better than what they were... or are.

He desires desire from the players and we're gonna fecking win the CL this season I hope :p

Haven't been this excited over a club hire in ages, might've just found the right man to bring us into the modern game

I am just interested how he will get CR7 to work hard in gegenpressing... That will be fun...

If this happens, or in fact whoever we get in, I reckon he'll do pretty well until the end of the season. Maybe squeak 4th, and get us to a cup final. Then whatever happens next season, whether he stays or is replaced, I reckon it will all go wrong again.

Very exciting news, finally it looks like our owners have woken up probably out of fear of being left behind for good.

Be interesting to see how much control he has especially in the summer with new players and manager, some players are in for a shock I think and some will absolutely thrive.

After all the gloom lately at last things are looking up.

What I love most about this deal is that he stays on after we find a manager, as a DOF I hope!

If this is an indication of change within the club, which it appears to be, then this is a brillaint hire. Specifically, if Ralf Rangnick is given power in the decision making once he steps aside and the new manager comes in.

Great choice, but not just because of the 6 months that he'll be manager, but the following 2 years where he stays on as a consultant and has influence on footballing decisions.

The last thing I expected from this board was a sensible and smart move like this. Well done, if ends up being true.

We’ve been crying out for a footballing tactical rain man savant type for ages. We’ve been a bit vibey for too long.

This is extremely interesting. He mentions his coaching style, and he also mentions the focus he has during training and playing style. The issues he mention related directly to us. The transition from attack to defence, the focus on forward attacking football, how to deal with pressing teams, and also the focus on set pieces.

This is the man we need right now.
Perfectly summed up. Especially the 5 state of play in a match. United lacked 4 of them. We suck at set pieces, what to do when being pressed , breaking defensive low blocks and our defensive transition is all over the place

Is this the most united the caf have been over a decision? If Ten Hag joins him in the summer I think I might wank myself into a coma.

He doesn't need to. He will discipline the rest of the team in such a way that will allow ronaldo to thrive and be at the center of each goal. You dont need 10 outfield players running around all pressing at the same time. You need a group, within the area, to press and he has said that this applies to any place on the pitch.

God, have I actually just witnessed United make a smart footballing decision?!

From this..

So Rangnick has pulled out because the leeches refuse to give him any kind of power whatsoever and new coaching staff.

I know where this shit is going. Whoever thinks that things will change for the better are clueless.

To this..

He told the board that he will be more than happy to accept the job if they show transparency and an understanding to his way of working. He also didnt want to be here for a temporary position, and really wanted to develop the club to get it back to where it was. He decided that to do this he would be best suited in a 'consultancy' type role, as opposed to permanent manager.

Got to love us some leeches!

Perhaps everyone is just a bit clueless

Ronaldo is most likely gone at the end of the season? Or he miraculously buy in and at 37 years old shows that he is an even bigger freak than we thought.
