Rarely injured players and their obvious value

Bruno is the obvious answer, but has there been others like him? Players who at most miss one or two games per season due to injury.

My memory is a bit hazy, but I feel that Carrick rarely got injured?

It's such an underrated and rare attribute.

I posted this in the football forum because I'm curious about players from our rival teams too.

Lampard pretty much never got injured. I am sure he started over 100 prem games running or something mad like that.

Edit: yeah 164, the record by quite a distance. It is appearances mind, not starts, but still ridiculous.

Ronaldo has been pretty injury free over his career. Felt Evra was never injured too much in his time here.

Yeah I think Maguire not being particularly injury prone (the irony being his injury now of course) felt extremely important given our previous reliance on Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans.

... Again, the irony of us RETURNING to Jonny Evans is not lost on me either, what an unbelievable way to run a football club like Man Utd.

Connor Gallagher for us.

The most ridiculous one globally is Inaki Williams, 6 seasons I think without missing a single league game, record in La Liga. Needs his DNA examining to be honest because it's super human.

It’s mad that Fletcher is on there after the issues he had.

Evra is a good shout. I can't even remember his rotation option. Fabio? De Laet?
Buttner towards the end of Fergie's time but yeah normally Fabio or even O'Shea would fill in at LB but we didn't really rotate much at LB. Evra was an ever present.

Leighton Baines for Everton was pretty good.
Inaki Williams as mentioned
Thomas Muller
Messi + Ronaldo
Mo Salah? Since Joining Liverpool he has done a few 38 match PL seasons and the fewest he's done is 34

West Ham have a couple right now. Jarrod Bowen has missed 3 matches in the past 3 1/2 seasons, Ward-Prowse 2 in 4 1/2.

Gabriel at Arsenal is fairly bullet proof too. Missed two this season but it was tactical as far as I'm aware. Missed none in 22/33, and just 3 in 21/22.

Was definitely O'Shea, Fabio barely played for us.

Gareth Barry was always available. Thought Carrick was better mind and will die on that hill.

Inaki Williams 251 consecutive games?! Feck me. Did they cryofreeze the fecker after each game or what?!

Lampard with 164 games is pretty fecking mad. And most of them were 8/10 performances. Bonkers.

It’s not even close. Carrick was levels and levels above Barry as a player.

Mad bastard. I guess one thing that went in his favour is Bilbao only really qualified for CL/EL around 3 or 4 times in that period

Bruno has never missed a club game through injury in his career. Only missed one eligible match for us through flu.

What I don’t get are people who don’t see the value of players like that yet at the same time moan about the club having too many injury prone players.

I don't think Mourinho ever substituted Lampard either, or at least if he did it was incredibly rare.

Surprisingly, if you do put it down to just starts, Bridge actually pips Lampard, 113 to 112.

Without downplaying any other qualities he has, it's legitimately one of the best things about Bruno.

And also speaks to his commitment, because while he may be freakishly fit there's no way he hasn't also had to play through the pain barrier at times.

The best ability is availability. From the top of my head Thomas Müller, as already mentioned, never had a major injury throughout his almost 15 years of professional football with Bayern.
A quick search says he missed around 20 matches in 15 years of Bundesliga, and played 453 so far.

Harry Maguire's first 3 seasons with us, and his 2 seasons at Leicester he was playing almost every league game.

Leicester 17/18 - 38
Leicester 18/19 - 31
Man Utd 19/20 - 38
Man Utd 20/21 - 34
Man Utd 21/22 - 30

At the start of his career he had 3 seasons at Sheffield United where he played almost every game in a longer season when they were in League One, He played 44 out of 46 games twice, and 41 out of 46 once.

Salah is never injured and plays an insane amount of minutes, he's a machine.

For us? Evra was similar.

Salah is pretty insane in this regard. I think he missed less than 10 games in his entire PL career due to injuries?

I'd add Lewandowski too, if we are talking about Bayern players. And because of his role, he was exposed to hard fouls even more than Muller.

Being freakishly fit isn't just pure luck either tbh. A lot of muscle injuries can be through players not keeping their fitness or endurance levels up.

Sometimes it is just bad luck obviously, but you don't go year after year injury free without a pretty high level of dedication

Bernardo Silva. His average games in 6 seasons with City are 50+. And he works pretty hard, too.

In contrast to Lampard, which it seems like he's just staying around Drogba and didn't do much defending.

Can't really blame the manager on those grounds because Fletcher had a clear medical issue that had stopped him from playing football for years and nobody would have expected his durability in his late 30s. Would have been expected to sell him.

At the top of my mind: Zanetti, Xavi, Roberto Carlos, Cristiano and Messi rarely injured. Our own Giggs didn’t do too bad in that aspect too.
