A patchy player and so much improvement needed for next year. I don't think ten Hag is the coach to bring the very best out of him sadly.

Can't be digging this guy out too....

His first season, with new teammates, an apparently confused manager, and a squad lacking any confidence...... Come on now
Totally agree but at one point we were thinking 20 goals, now he’ll be lucky to make 15, service for him is really bad but half the reason the ball comes back so quickly is his hold up Play, his touch needs a lot of work.

United are a big club and we need to be looking at a PL proven CF, Ivan Toney and D Solanki are obvious options, we need to go bully clubs and get the players we want this summer and we need a huge clear out, it’s no good saying give So and So a chance, they have had enough chances now. Names are not required we all know who they are ?

Another example of a player who will stagnate development wise if we don't change things drastically. He is not playing well recently, but top sides still should be creating a few half decent chances for their number 9 even if that striker is playing poorly. We hardly create anything or involve him in build up at all leading to him putting his head down and trying to take on 2 or 3 players which he clearly is not good at.

I agree with him not getting service but what did people expect this is not a team that offers their striker service it’s a team where the striker has to offer the wingers and Bruno service but he’s failing at that aswell.

Yes Hoijlund is not gonna be the main guy any time soon. That was a pipe dream.... we gotta stop doing this tbh. Just go and get the finished article and let the youth improve and grow without the pressure. We put so much pressure on them which is not something we did back in the day

Has a thankless job, but also doesn't do it very well. He gets so few chances to get on the ball, so he cannot mess it up as often as he does. And when we just pump long passes to him it becomes almost impossible.

We need some structure to see the best of him.

The way we set up it’s genuinely pointless playing with a number 9. It wouldn’t matter who we had up top, they’d look terrible in this system.

Why he tries to make himself smaller every time when he gets the ball? 5-6 times today same routine: gets the ball with defender on his back, and then he tries to lean on defender and just falls down.
Look at that last chance in 96th minute; he got the ball in penalty box, he has players on his right and his left. Now, some strikers would turn and shoot, some strikers would at least pass the ball but him.....he just fell down and lost the ball.

People say give him time which is fine. But he is far from having quality to be no1 choice. Lets buy Toney and use Hojlund as second choice.

He's invisible far too often. Not strong enough currently

He doesnt have to feed off scraps he gets plenty of balls to him but wastes them by knocking away from himself with a poor first touch or tries to control it and gets muscled of it because he is to weak to hold of a defender.

This guys isnt and never has been good enough or strong enough to play for a top side, a fully fit Martial would have been a much better option today.
Well ofcourse a fully fit Martial would be better. I think Martial had the talent and was on the way to become one of the best strikers in the league until his body gave up on him. Hojlund has talent but based on talent, Martial was levels above.

Too bad a fit Martial isnt really a thing anymore.

Mr Invisible.

75 million pounds for a striker that barely creates a single chance for himself.

My biggest gripe was his fitness levels, it took him so long to look fit enough to complete 90 minutes. He had three weeks out injured and he came back like he'd had a full summer break.

Yeah I'm not going to criticize him.
He's been quiet yes, but he's in an impossible situation...20 years old, no sub, no service, no system...
I've see enough to have faith he'll come good but we desperately need a Solanke this summer to take some of the pressure off.

Needs to be sold on in the summer, his age is not an excuse anymore.
Of course not, he is 7 months older than when he got here - a lifetime, should be banging them in by now!

I don’t get it. How can people write him off with what we’ve seen from him so far? Had a very promising start, then faded when our wingers refused to play the ball (but still managed to create for them), then got a very good run with goals showing impressive mentality, then an injury - and now he’s back in a malfunctioning team. What did you expect, that he is the only one not affected by our crisis? That he’s a Messiah? Give him time to prove himself when the team clicks, ffs. He’s still very young for a striker, and there are very few with his talent, finishing and strength. He just needs time and confidence.

Or maybe he just isn't very good
But he is, we’ve all seen it - and all the big clubs had him at their radar for a reason, he is very, very talented and showed it at Atalanta too.

Now, you may think that he’s not ready for us yet, that’s fine. But anyone with half a football brain should have seen his abilities by now. But it almost seems like some in here would rather be proved right about him being sh*** than waiting a bit to get a very capable striker. So weird.

That said, I’m concerned that the chaos on and outside the pitch has finally got to him mentally. He seems out of sync atm.

Such a stark contrast to his performances after he scored his first goal, and you thought, here we go, the flood gates are open, and the games after he returned from injury. It's like his confidence is shot down, and he can't recover. Plus there is zero service to him, and even when there is a pass to be played to him, Rashford takes the shot with his left foot into the side netting from an acute angle.

Solanki at 26 is the exact player we should sign at £60m and not think twice about it, I’m hoping that Ashworth has some insight into the player as he was at England when Solanki was player of the Tournament in the U20 World Cup win.

Well not sure if I should comment on his performance considering some genius will quote it when his next purple patch hits. I hope he turns out well but that was a shocker of a performance

He gets bullied by senior defenders far too easily for his size.

Erik's system has enabled the mediocrity of the all attackers this season.

Garnacho has perhaps been the best example across the board but his tenacity to run at players points to a function where irrespective of tactical amendment he can make something happen for the team because he makes things happen for himself.

Notice, that the attacking areas of the pitch was also an issue last season. It was Rashford's purple patch that covered the cracks in the teams consistency in front of goal. The problem with the manager this season is he compounded that issue even further by throwing out the midfield thus turning every game into a slugfest where the highest scores wins.

I'd like to see Hojlund under a better system before coming to a conclusion on his capabilities.

Yes!
Hes misleadingly weak. Very overrated right now. He might turn good but scouts can say that about hundreds of 20 year old strikers.

But we've seen him be strong before, he's struggling right now as are most of the team.....

That was not a good performance.
He is a big bloke and has all the physical attributes to be really good but it looks like someone is going to have to give him good coaching on how to use them and the first thing should be how to shield the ball and hold it up.

He's screwed in this set up then if he needs good coaching
