Round 2 is complete. Results below:

Group 1:
1. South Park (153)
2. Dark (115)
3. The Shield (108)
4. Star Trek: The Next Generation (92)
5. The Americans (88)

Group 2:
1. The Wire (198)
2. Chernobyl (144)
3. Better Call Saul (129)
4. Parks & Recreation (107)
5. X-Files (103)

Onto groups 3 & 4.

Group 3:
Only Fools & Horses
Community
Deadwood
Arrested Development
Mad Men

Group 4:
Ozark
True Detective
Seinfeld
Band Of Brothers
Black Adder

Here's how it will work:

Each group has 5 TV shows selected at random.

List your top 5 from each group (1st = 5 points, 2nd = 4 points, 3rd = 3 points, 4th = 2 points, 5th = 1 point).

You do not have to vote 5 shows. If you don't vote 5 shows, the scoring will be adjusted to reflect this. For example, if you only list 3 shows, the scoring will be (1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point).

The top 2 will automatically make the finals.

3rd place will go into the knockouts round as a top seed, starting with +5 points.

4th place will go into the knockouts round as a bottom seed starting with 0 points.

5th place will be eliminated.

The rounds are below (BOLDED IS THE CURRENT ROUND FOR THIS THREAD):

Round 1 - Free For All
Round 2 - Group Stage 1 & 2
Round 3 - Group Stage 3 & 4
Round 4 - Group Stage 5 & 6
Round 5 - Group Stage 7 & 8
Round 6 - Group Stage 9 & 10
Round 7 - Knockouts
Round 8 - The Finals

Each Monday, I will set up a new round for the contest and the voting closes at 11.59pm Friday (PLEASE stick to this, don't make me miss out on time with my children on the weekends  ).

At the opening post of each round, I will put in the results from the previous round and start the voting of the current round.

In the event of a tie, I will first refer to how many picks they got in the first round then if still a tie, I will refer to their iMDB scores.

If you have voted, then want to change your vote, please quote your old post and write your new list and let me know by tagging me, otherwise I may miss your vote by accident.

Remember, I have 2 kids and a full time job so there may be times where I miss deadlines or post later than anticipated. Apologies in advance.

I hope this is fun and you guys enjoy it :D

You weren't kidding when you said that Better Call Saul got fecked by the rule changes! Only 4 points above last place!

I'll stick to my own rules and continue to only vote for what I've actually seen a good deal of. I refuse to vote tactically.

Group 3:
I haven't seen any of these :nervous:

Group 4:
1. True Detective (I'll just pretend that season 2 and 3 don't exist)
2. Band of Brothers
3. Seinfeld

I tried to watch Ozark but I didn't like it. There's something about the protagonist that I can't stand. Blackadder is one of those TV series that I know that I will enjoy, but somehow I keep forgetting to watch it.

Oh no I made an error. It was still 3rd, but was on 129 points. Sorry, busy morning.

Before the rule change, Better Call Saul was second and Chernobyl third. The Shield was also ahead of Dark.

Love the bolded. I'm the same.

Band of Brothers is the most important TV show to ever be produced. Kids should have to watch it at school to understand the horrors of WW2. Amazing show. Everything about it is perfection.

The X-Files :(

I’m going to be pedantic and point out that Mad Men is two words. ;)

You'll forget it exists in 10 years.
I really enjoyed it. I know it loses it's way a bit at the back end but I still haev really fond memories of it and the first few seasons were truly fantastic. To me anyway.

I also enjoyed it whilst watching it, but it really is one of those shows that just leaves your consciousness the second it's over. I don't think it will have a legacy like some other shows in the same style have.

Could that be because it was a Netflix show so available to binge straight away?

Could be part of it. Everyone consumes it within - say a week, and then forgets about it. It didn't have much cultural impact either.

In fact I can't think of many binge/Netflix style shows that will make these lists. It will only really be a thing for a couple weeks of people's lives and then they'll move on to the next thing. By the time a second season comes around everyone has forgotten what happened.

Compare it to something like Succession that still went with the episode a week format and look at how much people spoke about that. Obviously there are many other factors that helped it, but I think the release schedule is one of them.

I completely agree with this. I think both Ozark and Stranger Things would have been much bigger on a weekly release schedule. It's amazing how the latter got as big as it did and to think how much bigger it could have gotten is nuts.
