I genuinely thought this could happen two season ago with Ole at the wheel but we’re finally here.
2 seasons ago when we finished second? We finished the season unbeaten away and are currently losing 4-0 to Brentford.

At some point people will realise that Ole was also hamstrung by the same owners, scouting department etc as RR and ETH. So using that to bash him and defend our newer managers makes absolutely no sense.

We can’t score and we can’t defend. It’s a real possibility. The club is rotten to the core.

He has to adapt his style with this team. If he realises this team is incapable of playing his style, you got to be playing defensive and grind out 1-0's

Not looking good here as we ain't going to replace a full team

I can see it, honestly I went into todays game not confident of beating Brentford and it is becoming a recurring theme in the past 6 months where I hardly ever feel sure that we can beat the opposition, that is the mentality of a fan watching a team battling relegation and I don't believe I am the only one who has such little faith of getting 3 points from match to match in recent months

It’s still early days but we’ve been one of worst teams in league for a long period of time now. It’s not a ridiculous thought we’ll spend a lot of time somewhere in bottom half of table.

FiveThirtyEight have us at 7% to go down. That’s more likely than Brighton and Villa.

Looking at the last 20 games that is the way, a relegation

Unable to win even against Forest and Bournemouth, not a chance in this moment

Most of them are like own goals trying to dribble inside the box

If getting relegated meant losing the Glazers and cowards like Rashford and De Gea, then I'd take it.

Lot's of people don't think it possible that we get relegated. Let me tell you how about a conversation that the Glazer's either have had or will have - "Parachute Payments?? You mean to tell me they will pay us to play badly?.... That's a yes from us."

Imagine we get relegated....(I hear our captain is rather a specialist)
Can you imagine these over-paid, gutless players playing in the Championship? There is absolutely no chance in hell they have the spine to be able to come back up. None. Imagine all the players who play football for the love of the game and the club getting the change to show these fools what its like to play with some desire.
It would be a long old road back I feel.

Everything is possible, I remember a good Dortmund team being last in the league well into January in recent times

We could be the first team to lose every game. Ok that's silly but I can't see who we can beat or even get a draw against at the moment. We are genuinely the worst team in the league on current form.

It might take relegation with a completely new start with all new owners and players to reset this club and get it on the right track again.

I’d love if some old timers actually tell us some stories about 74/75. What was the general atmosphere at the club the years before we went down and what was it like in the actual second division?

I’m genuinely surprised there are some on here who think relegation is out of the realms of possibility. It definitely is although an unlikely possibility. But it is a real threat. If anything, transfers need to happen and if they don’t the owners are in trouble

I can do that. We dodged the drop in 1973. In 1974, we were abysmal. Law was gone, and so were Charlton and Best. But we never game up, nore did we ship 4 goals in a single match. Heaviest defeats were 0-3 (Arsenal and QPR). We still followed the team through thick and thin because we believed the Doc would turn things around. We even had a spell towards rhe end when it looked like we might avoid the drop, but when it happened, a lot of lads that I knew started talking about going away to 2nd Division teams which was uncharted territory. We packed out grounds. The Doc brought in Pancho, Steve Coppell, Gordon Hill, and introduced an attacking style that took the division by storm and us back up as champions. Faith never wavered.

I'll take relegation if it guarantees Glazers out and away from the club, doomed to fail while they are there
The rest-building job will be immense and we’ll be in an even worse state to attract decent talent. But there is some truth in what you’re saying - the Glazers have sucked out the enjoyment of being a fan

We have 12 points from our last 15 games, that puts us on just over 30 points over a 38 game season, if you want to be generous and go for our last 20 games, it would mean a 38 game season would see us hit exactly 40 points - 40 points is generally the target for relegation scrappers.

I know it's simplistic, just throwing the numbers out there for those who are still confident of a top 6 finish!

I made it 21 points out of our last 20 games. We might really be in trouble this season.

I felt it with Everton last season that one of the big reasons that they were in trouble was that they were bad but still believed that they were too good to go down. We are even worse in that regards. This team has no fight at all and we are actually screwed if we are in a proper relegation battle with this lot

-19GD in the last 7 away games. Not won 3 league games on the bounce since April 2021. The more you look at the numbers…

It’s seems unbelievable doesn’t it but if you look at our record since last January we’ve been in free fall. The sad part is the players just don’t have the fight, if we get dragged into a lower league battle they will just sulk and leak stuff about the club instead of fighting.

Speaking from experience of supporting a thrice relegated team - You should have enough to stay up given where you finished last season but something is wrong if you are playing like that for a new Manager? It looks like ETH is trying to play a style you don’t have the players to execute. Watching DDG play sweeper keeper was painful.

We can't score, can't win midfield battles, can't defend and have a broken goalkeeper. We absolutely look like a relegation team right now. The most expensively assembled relegation fodder in history.

I’m genuinely reaching this point. If getting relegated meant the glazers and their cronies left and all those cnuts on the pitch left I don’t think I’d be even remotely bothered, I hold all of them in such contempt. The only problem is it would financially cripple the club to possibly the point of no return.

To be honest it's not that big a shock from finishing 6-10th and fighting relegation. Villa (almost) , Everton and Leeds were sucked in last season after finishing in the top 10 the season before, and Sheffield United the season before that. Brighton went in the other direction. The teams are extremely close in midtable

Like most of us, if it was a dead cert the glazers would sell if we got relegated i'd reluctantly (only because i dont want it to happen) take it. But we need to be careful what we wish for!

Hypothetically, if it did happen and some of these players stuck around, who's to say they'd have the stomach to play in a lower league when they already have none in the premiership and there's absolutely NO guarantee we'd come straight back up. Most of the championship sides would break their neck to scalp us.

Our squad is bad but it's not quite bad enough to get relegated. Between 6th and 10th is a fair position for the current squad.

We're competing with West Ham, Wolves, Leicester and Brighton.
