..won't embarrass us anymore... :nervous:

Great at football, less so at other things like integrity.

Anyways, rest in peace Kaiser Franz

A real legend of the game. Will never be forgotten and arguably Germany's greatest ever player & manager.

OH NO!!!

I'm starting my day here and reading the news is hitting me like a ton of bricks. I grew in a Mexican neighborhood in Los Angeles in the late 1960s and we idolized Beckenbauer, who for us was no less a genius as a footballer than Pele and Cruyff.

Three men have won the world cup as player and as manager. Two of them have passed away in the last 3 days!

Sad hearing this, as others have said an absolute legend of the game. RIP and codolences to his family and friends.

It's a shame he wasn't happy in his later parts of the life. I hope he found peace!

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
Won the lot (literally) including a couple of Balon D’ors… quite rare for defenders, but he was that good.

A beautiful player to watch and like a lot of the true greats, looked comfortable on the ball and in more than one position.

“Legend” is probably used too loosely in football… Beckenbauer WAS a legend.

RIP and commiserations to the Bayern fans on here.

Fak :( :( :(

One of the most awe-inspiring footballers I’ve ever seen. Truly.

Another of the true footballing gods gone. Not many of the traditional top 10 left now. :(

RIP

will this become a national holiday henceforth in Germany? He’s that big of a deal!

This was unexpected, thought he'd be around with us for much longer as he always seemed like an extremely healthy fella, may he rest in peace.

His reputation speaks for itself as an unrivaled giant of the game, so best leave it at that.

Integrity?

Buying that world cup for 6,7 million was a work of genius, should get the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for that tbh.

Ironically enough it's probably the least shady stuff if you look at the current state of football.

His only fault was that he didn't just say "What do you want? I bought that thing for a half a dollar and you are still complaining?" when he was asked about it.
