He is 27, been at Valencia and was loaned out few times till Udinese bought him, been in Italy for 5 years, not sure we "missed out" on him, he is a good player but as good as "missed out"

he's good obviously, but we should all check the Bentancur and Torreira threads to remember how the hype quickly dies after you start watching them weekly at your club. he would fit perfectly with Simeone though.

Agree, Missed out is a bit of an exaggeration but the point still stands.

it does stand, but that point also applies to a lot of players, many in EPL, like Kante, Mehrez, Mane, etc... but we also picked few good ones, we'll always miss out out on, and get some ourselves, that is what happens to every top club.

Bit of a "late" bloomer, it was only the last 3 seasons or so that he turned into a beast, previously looked like another overhyped talent. Must be said he was originally supposed to be a Di Maria type winger, before being converted into a creative box-to-box CM

Noticed how good he is about 2 or 3 seasons back, a real hidden gem in serie a with impressive numbers but fully expect people to take notice of him this season at atletico for the right reasons.

Was really hoping united would have spotted him and signed him up cheaply as Herrera's replacement.

Really seemed like there was a chance he was gonna come to Leeds last summer, but I think we were quoted 40m which was beyond our budget. Don't know why he wasn't seen as an option for us this summer, but obviously Atletico are a more attractive proposition anyway.
