Who do we need more? A proven left back in Rose or a hardworking ambidextrous winger a la Perisic.

Perhaps a poll would be a good idea?

Very tough choice.

As much as I'd like Rashers, Martial etc to own the wing it's not too convincing, which makes wing a priority.

However, if we trust them left back is more important, but also potentially a bad investment, as still hoping Shaw earns his worth!

Our problem last season wasn't our defence, it was our attack so I'd go with Perisic.

This.

We can cope with Blind or Darmian - especially now that we have Matic who will improve our balance, but we lack a Perisic-type of player

Rose can play left back, left wingback and left wing. For that alone he'd win

Perisic can play on either side as a winger or a wingback so I don't see how that works in Rose's favour. We're not exactly stacked for right wingers at the moment.

For me it depends on what Mourinho thinks of Martial and Shaw. If he doesn't trust either of them then get Perisic. If he doesn't trust Shaw then get Rose.

If there's one thing we definitely lack in our squad, it's an injured left back with an attitude problem.

Rose.... I cant believe we've waited this long in the window before seriously thinking about a LB.
For Jose to have a real shot at winning the league we would need both a LB and a winger.

It's not just the LW that needs addressing, our RW is equally as ineffective, luckily we have Valencia down that side that covers good ground. I'd say Rose for LWB/LW, that way if Shaw goes gain some form that side is going to be hard to break down.

It's a team game. One of the main reasons our attack was crap was because our back four didn't contribute to the attacking play or even buildup apart from Valencia.

I rate Rose very highly. But his injury record leaves a massive question mark, for me. Seems an unnecessary risk.

Perišić is a better player than most give him credit for, but I'm a fan of Martial and want him to raw dick Mourinho by the season's end.

So I'd probably say no to both. I don't know why we aren't targeting a slightly younger wife left option. Someone who's 24-26.

Not a United fan or anything, but I reckon Perisic would surprise a few people at United.

No, it was because we had unreliable left forwards in Martial and Rashford. Zlatan was our main source of attack, until Rashford stepped up toward the end of the season (too late). Blind, Darmian and Young held the left back role decently well.

We have two excellent right side playmakers in Mata and Mhikitaryan. Its the left wing that is our obvious problem. I also don't think Persic has ever actually operated as a wingback.

My vote would be for Perisic regardless. I'm convinced he is what we lack. Rose for me is overrated and will be grossly over priced

Probably Rose, considering Rashford/Martial can play LW to a decent level.

Both Blind/Darmian are well below what we require at LB for different reasons, so Rose would be the biggest upgrade.

Saying that though Shaw will be back next month, if he can fulfill his potential we won't need to worry. Chances are it won't happen though.

A fullback like Rose would contribute in attack as well though?

But not in the same extent as Perisic. Similarly Perisic would contribute in defence aswell but not the same extent Rose would.

Since our problem is attack and not defence the clear choice is Perisic here.

Perisic,

1. I dont think Mourinho gives as much freedom to the left fullback as he does Valencia.
2. We need legitimate width and pace in-behind at all times, with & without the ball, a fullback wouldnt offer that when we're not in possession.
3. Perisic can swap wings and provide similar on the right should we need it.

I think we need a winger more than a LB.

However, I have more confidence in Rose doing the job we need at LB than I do in Perisic doing the job we need out wide.

So, basically, I'm glad it's not up to me.

It looks like people are understating the impact that attacking full backs have on a team's overall attacking potency.
I'd be all for having an attacking left back if I thought Jose would actually pick him.

It is a tough choice, but I think we are better equipped in attack. We really lack that balance without Shaw. There is no other really competent left back option at the club IMV.

They both contributed negatively. I'd argue a big reason why Martial and Rashford were unreliable because they didn't get enough support when they got the ball and/or didn't get it in optimal conditions.
