It’s the daily star. They never on to something.
Trying to think of multiple cliched responses like every dog has its day and that one about a broken clock being right twice a day
However I know it, you, know it and most of the Caf know it. The daily star is not even worthy of being toilet paper.

Orgasmic signing if it happens. But 70 m is a bit steep in current market.

Actually used it a few times for that exact function while in college and trying to save money for "€1 a drink" night! Can confirm, not worth using as toilet paper.

Rumours don't seem to be going away. I just can't seem to work out why we're so interested (if rumours are true) when he's more of a box to box player than a holding midfielder.

I'm not too familiar with him, but having seen the way he plays, I wouldn't have him and Pogba as a balanced midfield.

I don't think we need another #8 unless Pogba is off and, even then, I'd probably favour Fabian Ruiz or even Thiago.

Matic signed a new contract and Ole has publicly stated Scott will be covering for him. Cant see us buying a DM this summer unfortunately.

And we are already stocked in other midfield positions. This is the usual clickbait bs.

Signed 9 years deal and still 6 years left, somehow these media & journalists are still making speculation of this guy leaving.

And for people who are questioning him not being holding midfielder. Saul is an all round player, Partey isn't holding midfielder either. An all round midfielder who is equally good in attack & defend, understanding the game can adapt in any roles. Saul can play as a 6 & he is even more all round player because I remember couple years ago he was used as a centre back.

I'd Give Atletico Fred and anyone of our CBs except Maguire for him.

Would be an amazing signing. But I think we may have to check back in next summer for this one if he’s still at Atletico.

Can he play in DM role OR it’s again putting a round pig in a square hole ?

Looks like he is an ideal Pogba replacement if he leaves for Pirlo.

He's nothing like Pogba. Doesn't have Pogba's creativity and passing range.

Saul is a midfield workhorse with good technique. Would probably fit Liverpool better as their midfielders are there to cover for Roberson/Arnold bombing forward.

From the little I’ve followed him - he can definitely play DM but is possibly more used to, and best utilized as a box to box CM.

He was loaned to Vallecano iirc, and played as a CB for them. When he was ready for Atletico, he’s mostly played a box to box role next to Koke with others holding (Gabi and now Partey).

Maybe someone who’s followed him more can correct me if I’m wrong. He’s super versatile and intelligent though.

I don’t see why he’d be a replacement for Pogba, for me he could easily do the DM role. Last I checked his defensive stats were better than Partey. They both operate as box to box. Difference being Saul has the ability and intelligence to play anywhere.

He's a DM its just AM play lots of them doing that job and look to play on the counter. He has some quality dribbling and when it comes to a finish too but he's never scored that many in a season. His 6 league goals and 1 in the champions league are the most hes come up with. He doesnt have Pogba's creativity and pass, in fact Fred is probably better at that

Under a tree.
He's someone I would straight swap for Pogba if the scenario ever arose.
You could play him, VDB and Bruno while being defensively sound and not needing a specialist DM.

Whoever won the game
If Saul Niguez was a hotel, I would give him three stars at best.

Goes missing in big games. Does not have the workrate for a title-winning PL side.

I agree that he’s massively overrated. Good but not what people would have you believe.

As people can write whatever they want on the internet and in the worst case create conspiracies, it’s important to reply sometimes. You are wrong, the last opinion is false. Saul would in fact play for every team in the Premier League and thrive. Fantastic player, difference maker actually.

Seems too much of a type of player we have.

Either want one with more technical/passing ability or one with defensive abilities.

What’s the hotel equivalent of these failings?
Going missing in big games is turning up for breakfast and there is no coffee nor orange juice at the ready.

Lacking the workrate is finding dust under the carpets and furniture. Most of the room is clean but it is the details that matter.

Is there any recent link or tweet linking him to us? Why the bump in the thread?

Heard his release clause is 45M this summer, worth a try rather paying 600K contract to Pogba

Who actually followed his performances the last few seasons? I can never pay full attention to Atlético games when they're on.

Heard he's been abysmal this season.
Simeone has dropped him -- I don't think it was because of performances, but maybe I'm wrong.

I think he's class.

Fred -- 47m
VdB -- 40m
Saul -- 45m

Seems a reasonable fee for a significant upgrade at the pivot.... He's box-to-box but an energetic defender as well.

I can't see it happening. He'll be going on 27 years old next season. Ole would be relatively happy with Scott and Fred.

I think Ole would see better value in spending 15 million on an up and coming 19 year old box to box midfielder. Possibly from Bundesliga or Ligue 1. And develop him slowly. That's if Ole doesn't see Van de Beek as a no. 8 next season in a double pivot.
