Why should there be a thread about a trialist?

And no.Only know he's a City rejected.

He's a 20 year old kid whose career evidently stalled but seems to have got his shit together at Salford and must have impressed on trial. Obviously a punt but no reason to assume he's shite or won't add anything useful to the squad. Miserable bastards.

There has previously been good players that dropped out of one academy, only to go on and excel at a different club.

Why, when we sign these U-21 players, are they always right backs, or full backs for that matter? We signed Varela, Janko, that boy we snatched from City (not this one obviously) who I think was a RB or at least a defender. De Laet was also a full back. What is it with us and young fullbacks?

With the recent record of our current defenders, if he makes it to the first team he'll be nicknamed

That's a blast from the past.
I looked up Veseli after reading about this guy. He is getting games in League One with Port Vale, 18 so far this season. He is on loan from Ipswich, he was on loan in League Two last season so he is progressing.

Edit: seems that he has joined Port Vale permanently recently.

Walter Crickmer started it all...
Was hot property at one point.

Anyway, the most obvious City academy to United academy success story is our assistant manager!
Giggs played for City for a few months as a 14/15 year old before Academies were introduced. He was never officially a City player and signed no contract. I'd hardly give City any credit for his development nor say he was there long enough to warrant being called a City youth player.

If you use that criteria you could add a list of names to our Academy...

Absolutely…even from United you could add David Platt, Robbie Savage, Alan McLoughlin, David Johnson, David Healy, Ron-Robert Zieler, Peter O'Sullivan.

God knows we need some young players to hopefully take opportunities given to them, and at right back especially and hopefully he continues to impress. Seems that we are breeding a generation of young talents who do not fulfill their potential. Considering we had the likes of Brown, the Neville's and O'Shea come through and be regulars in our defence.

For those asking earlier -

Chris Smalling left Milwall's academy for Maidstone no ?

Then joined Fulham as a 19 year old.
