UK tax is 45% and Italy’s is 43%. There isn’t a big difference. There is NI too but I’m sure Italy must have something similar too.I was thinking more the other way - I'm not English but I'd imagine Premier League players are paying what, 40-50% tax on their wages?
If scarpering off to Italy on a loan means he can avoid paying that because he's residing out of the country then he's absolutely laughing. It can't be though - there would be uproar.
He’ll be liable for tax on worldwide income in Italy and I guess the portion of wages we pay would be classed as UK sourced income so he’d be liable to pay tax on that in the UK. He’d file under the double taxation treaty for that part so he doesn’t pay tax twice but he’d have to pay the higher rate which is the UK one.
