Sancho for €120m and 250k/wages or Thiago + Reguilon + Josh King/Kata for €80m and 400k/wages.

Same capital expenditure.

Which one would you take?

First xi improvement, or a first 16 where players can actually be rotated.

(Thiago is going to Liverpool so this is a theoretical question but want to gauge where the caf's head is at).

There should be a Football manager forum for muppets on here. Why we need Thiago when we have Bruno, Matic, Pogba, Fred, Mctominay and DVDB? Plus why we need King when igahlo extended his contract till January? Never heard of kata, but I m guessing he looks good on YouTube. I also don’t understand Reguilon when we have Shaw and Williams at left back. Unless we want to get rid of one of them.

If we get Sancho Greenwood would deputise for Martial , as good as Thiago is we need attacking reinforcements more.

Williams is better at RB, Luke Shaw will eventually be injured. Dalot might as well be sold.

Sancho all the way, he's a player that can take our attack to the next level and since he's 20 he's got at least 10 more seasons in him.

Thiago is a worldclass midfielder but he's on his last years and will need to be replaced shortly, while Reguilon is a good left back but wouldnt be an automatic starter here, would add depth for sure but I think Shaw would be starting at least in the first part of the season.

King I dont even want him here and I dont know who Daka is.

Overall I think we should spend big on key/"safe" players eventhough we take longer to get a great squad rather than buy a lot of "medium" quality players or old ones, getting players like Sancho would mean we wouldnt have to bother about the right wing for years.

The very edge of my patience waiting for a signing
I’d probably take the depth option rather than the one player usually, but I don’t like your depth options. 2 of them are believed to want to play somewhere else and we are definitely not their first choice, we’ve done this before with Di Snake and it didn’t work out well, never heard of Daka or Kata and josh king is a striker. We already have 3 players who are young and can play that role with Ighalo as backup.

On that basis, Sancho.

Pretty sure the answer is Sancho if the money is available. We already have enough average players as a squad player so I don't see what Josh King will offer to us differently here. We have enough midfielders in the squad but only Daniel James as our natural winger, Sancho makes more sense than Thiago.

I'd take Thiago and Ousmane Dembele on loan and postpone the Sancho chase for another year if that was a viable option.
I'd agree with this option with the addition of Daka. Daka's ability to score scruffy goals would make him an ideal Ole striker signing. The guy is rapid as well.

Thiago and O Dembele would bring so much fluidity to our passing. This would be a dream but I don't see Barca losing O Dembele even for a loan.

Yeah, why does a team want to improve its squad with better players? Don’t get it haha. We have depth guys!

Either would be fine, at this point beggars can't be choosers. Then again, with Woody in charge me may end up with getting none, as we keep waiting for Dortmund to drop their price a down, while ignoring players that are available.

It also does not help that we are so slow in getting players out of the club either. Get rid of the deadwood quicker so that we can have a bit more funds available.

Our best strength in depth outfield options are currently our CMs, where we were utterly exposed at the end of last season was RW and LB. Given that bringing in Sancho without any other competition is possibly a one time opportunity, I'd go with that.

As good a signing as Reguilon would be, I reckon we could find a backup option like that in most transfer windows. I don't think we find an option like Sancho for the RW again.

I think United currently have 12 players I really trust to start (against any other team). But some of them already duplicate positions (for example: 2 goalies).

The biggest gaps are at left-footed LB, and left-footed CB. 3rd gap after that will be someone to rotate with the 3 strikers: Rashford, Martial, Greenwood. Sancho will be my 3rd priority. 4th will be DCM specialist.

People randomly thinking it’s going to be Sancho or the others when we have no indication of such. He’ll, we’ve just bought VDB and at no point was it stated his transfer and Sancho’s move were mutually exclusive.

Sancho is by most reports the manager’s number one target. Bring him in.

How about Sancho or Mbappe, Salah, Kane and Lebron James?

Sancho of course. Thiago has no interest in joining us, so why he is an option idk.

I have watched King plenty over the years also for our National team and he ain’t good enough for us at all.

We have two things to sort out - quality and squad depth. I would pay up for Sancho to resolve quality in the front line. Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and Sancho would give us nearly 10 years of top quality options. But if Dortmund are being ridiculous and wanting 108 straight up cash and not even split payments or whatever the reason for the transfer failing then Id sort out the squad depth and then look to spend big next year. I dont think Covid will be sorted any time soon, so if Dortmund think they will get more money next year they are in for a shock.

To sort out squad depth Id take -
Zaha 45 (at this price due to 25 percent sell clause) - Yeah everyone will poo poo this idea after Sancho. But he is a proven prem player that can cover RW and LW and he suits Oles style to T. Fast, Tricky, Direct. Will get 10 goals/5 assists at least.
Badiashile 30 - A bit young but Left Footed CB, Fast and looks a good player. With all the crocks at least (hopefully) he will provide backup.
Reguilon 30 - La Liga LB of the season. Young. Can attack. Won Europa. Cheap. With Shaws injuries its a no brainer

That would sort out all the main back up areas except striker and defensive midfield but we have decent if not ideal options to cover for Martial ( Ighalo, Greenwood) and Matic (Fred, McTominay) if need be.. Next year we will have solved the squad depth after the above signings and can blow money on quality - Sancho, Haaaland, Upamecano whoever

Sancho 10/10 times.
We can get a half decent left-back anytime, we already have a good midfield & Sancho would help us more in attack both for the first eleven and for quality depth than King would.

If we get Sancho I believe we won't have to spend heavily on our forward line for a while. Next summer get a dm, cb. I believe even if we get Sancho this year an lb should still be possible.

I don't know why it's exclusively Sancho or the others, getting Sancho will make us better up front but we will stay have huge holes in other departments which applies to signing other positions instead of a RW as well. The problem with trying to address it over several windows is new problem areas arise during that period as well.

Some of these players aren’t what we need. Reguilon is the only player I say will be worth the investment. I rather we go for Camaviga instead of Thiago. For strikers, I rather we go for Oshimen or Jiminez. And for right attackers, depending on if MMM continues to be the best attack in the league, I rather we go for players like traore, Dembele, Coman, and Kubo.
Williams is better at RB, Luke Shaw will eventually be injured. Dalot might as well be sold.
Why will Shaw be sold eventually? You have a magic crystal ball? He is a solid defensive fullback. I didn’t realize that Williams is a better rb. He has had a breakout season at lb. Why has Ole not played him there?

Think if we're finding €120m difficult this summer, Mbappe is basically a dead cert to join next summer.
That is true but Mbappe is the bigger talent of the two and is better set to win the Balon Do'or. Ed could make funds available as an exception for him. Highly unlikely but still possible. Also, with the possibility of fans being let into the ground midseason, clubs will start cutting down their losses.

Upamecano: 55
Thiago: 30
Madueke: 25 (He will probably cost 60-70 next summer)
Telles: 20
Bale: Loan with option to buy
I would never get Bale. He's past it. He rejected us multiple times and his injury record would get us stuck with him albeit only a loan.
