Hoping for a speedy recovery. Hopefully it’s also not cancerous and therefore easier to treat!
Dreadful news. Hope he has a full and speedy recovery. How the hell was that not picked up during the medical though??
Probably would have been had it been there at the time which provides encouragement that they have caught it super early.

life is crazy isn’t it? just came off probably the best year in his career and got a huge summer move. Now he’s having to fight cancer.

Hopefully means they've caught it very early, and should be completely treatable. Wishing him well.
Is it normal in a medical for them to cup a players balls? Genuine question as I have no idea how in-depth they are.
I actually think that the medical is more about a deep check of heart and circulatory system with a blood check.
It wouldn't surprise me that the reason for them finding this are raised levels of certain proteins in his blood work. That might have been done during his medical.
Shocking news. Let's hope it can be sorted easily. On a side note, I really like Dortmund as a club. they seem to be run very well but I'm surprised they (and obviously Haller) decided to release the detail of the news
Almost all of them are cancerous, therefore the treatment is always removing the testicle.
Good news is that it almost always has a very good response to surgical and chemotherapy, so life expectancy and disease free survival are very high.
Hopefully he has a low grade one, so we can see him again on the pitch in a few months.

Yup, though the recovery is still physically and mentally awful. A close friend of mine went through it and was unrecognisable for a few years.

Shite news for him and his fam, but the recovery rate is good so fingers crossed this will be dealt with.
They had to, folk would have been asking questions about why he wasn't being picked come September.

Yh I've had testicular cancer twice and the treatment for it is very good.
If he's caught it early like the majority then it's an operation and a few weeks recovery and he'll be back to basic training.
If it's a big more advanced then obviously it gets tricky but hopefully it's early!
Mentally though it takes its tole sadly, so hopefully that side of things he gets support.

Ignore me if this is inappropriate and this might be a stupid question, but what are the warning signs for it? Like, what made you go to the Dr? Just pain in the area?
Honestly I got lucky. I was playing football and got the ball smacked in my privates. I was also getting work done in my house and it was dusty.
The next day I had a stomach ache and some swelling down low which I thought were because of the above, but I googled it.. and obviously when you google things the worst pops up. I rang my GP, they said 3 week wait to get it seen as it's not urgent. So I just went to AnE and sat there for 7 hours.
Then within 3 days they operated on me. So.. i'm glad I decided to go to AnE!
The typical signs are swelling, there are some secondary ones like stomach ache etc. Always advise to check your testicles every so often, in the shower or whatever. It's surprisingly common.

My mate got it couple of years back didn't get his groove back until he got a silicon one installed for the one that was removed. Hope Haller recovers well and goes banging in the goals quickly.

I think it's the right thing to do!
It raises the awareness more than some moustaches in November. This spreads the message that it can happen to everyone at anytime. And more importantly, that it's nothing to be ashamed for and not something that should be kept under the carpet.

What's the point of trying to keep this a secret? It's not his fault and nothing to be ashamed off. This way he gets a lot off support and the media will refrain from spinning stupid stories.
And he might encourage a young fella who is ignoring it to act and get checked out. Get well soon Sebastien.

Just covering it up with something ambiguous could unfortunately lead to some unsavoury speculation so it might be better to shut those down early.
I'm pretty sure they conferred with him beforehand and on the plus side he gets some online support which he could possibly find heartening.
