When we face a fired up team who press all over the pitch we just cant match up. seville look like they have 15 players on the pitch to out 9.

ETH needs to work some magic with subs as that was dire.
Sancho is doing as well as anyone so why are some on his back.
Casamiro has been very poor and Erikson off the pace.

Hilarious seeing the excuse people come up with so they don't have to blame DDG...

    'tis a silly place
We're seeing today the results of not having

    - first choice CB pairing
    - first choice LB
    - first choice striker/winger
    - captain and talisman

It sucks to watch us play so meekly. But context, please!

agreed embarassing the pair of them. Don’t even do the basics
This is the best we can get from both of them. Some nice bits of play where they look good bit ultimately flatter to deceive.

If we want some fight in the 2nd half these should not be on the pitch anymore.

Anyone blaming De Gea need their heads looked at this is league 2 Casemiro Erickson etc take that ball 20 times each half no drama. Maguire asked for the ball his call he is the captain after all and its on him.

We came into the game with a simple objective - win and go through. Some damage was done last week but what Maguire did there was inexplicable
That’s exactly why the damage was done last week. We’ve got the chuckle brothers back in defence, this was always going to be a step too far in these circumstances. Add to that losing the heartbeat of the team in Bruno and we’re double fecked!

Maguire called for the ball and then panicked. DDG was like at Max 10% at fault. Rest all lies wit captain fantastic, as usual.
I mean De Gea keeps playing these hospital passes and it's caused problems before. We conceded against Brentford because De Gea made another one of those ridiculous passes.

Awful 1st half and a terrible performance.
Its not even a good Sevilla side, embarrassing.

I don't know who can be blamed here, De Gea should've seen the players pressing and Maguire didn't even look to his left when he asked for the ball only checked his right!!! Cheap goal to concede like that in a game like that, I am all for playing from the back and building up slowly and all that but why our players make such simple errors in judgement instead of just concentrating properly!!!

Horrible performance. Nobody played well bar Antony. Our positional play just seems all over the place. Glad Wan Bissaka and Dalot have changed sides - should have come earlier. Casemiro looks really leggy and why is Martial playing centre mid most of the game? Truly baffling. Sevilla have looked like world beaters when all they've done is play controlled football. Rashford for the second half please!

I can accept him trying things and not having them come off, but he does little except pass the ball square or backwards and pulling out of challenges. Awful mentality. He's a Spurs level player. Compare his attitude and Antony's and it's night and day.
Yeah. They both have their limitations and neither are rapid, but look at how Antony approaches the game compared to Sancho. Night and day. Sancho needs everything going well to look good, he can never make anything happen on his own

Such a dumb pass from De Gea. Think Varane or Martinez would get out of situation but Maguire couldn't and will be hard to break them now.

It’s both De Gea and Maguire. No point taking a side.

Even with that goal, we have been fecking dreadful. Big team talk needed from Ten Hag.

dont really know how to turn this around. rashy on for sancho ok, but who should give them the ball upfront
It's a mental thing. They need to match the intensity of Sevilla, they need to fight like their lives depend on it. It's up to the manager to get this out of them. After that, we have enough quality to win for sure.

Some people actually think we would be better without Bruno
To be fair, Bruno has been part of the team that has shipped countless amount of goals this season away from home, don't make him like he is Scholes carbon copy.

As always as it has ever been, with Bruno or without Bruno the main problem we have is we don't have a genuine quality midfield.

We get overrun everytime. It's so easy to see.

I've said it countless time, if ten Hag doesn't overhaul this midfield in the summer, results will unravel next season and he might be sacked.

This pattern of play is the standard now, not a freak result.

We need competent midfielders in the summer. There is no shortcut to it.

Midfielders and strikers is of utmost importance.

Our captain is playing. Our first choice striker is playing. This is a quarter final of the Europa League and the players have played like the game was already decided since the 10th minute.

Anybody going forwarded gushing over Maguire when he does the basics right can get to feck he is absolutely diabolical and should never play again.

Absolute shambles of a player and captain, the whole team shits itself when he plays cause they don't trust him whatsoever.

    Wank.
Ole's legacy - the fact he's fecking captain just rubs salt in the wound

The loss of Bruno can't be underestimated. Eriksen his replacement tonight looks very much the player that's been out for many weeks and is very rusty.

Look at the situation again. Maguire had like 10 yards of free space between the Sevilla attackers just before the pass is played out.

then he has like 5 yards of space around him while doing what he was doing and squaring it to the Sevilla player.

If you want to play it out from the back you need defenders comfortable under pressure. Maguire is clearly not one of them.
I’ve looked at it plenty of times, it’s not the safest pass nor is it the one that gets us up the pitch better. I’m not defending Maguire, he could’ve done miles better with it, but it doesn’t make it a good pass. Neither De Gea or Maguire suit playing out from the back.

Take Antony out of the equation and you’ve 10 joint top
Wan Bissaka has been pretty good. We would be in a worse position without him. He has made more tackles than the other three defenders put together.

Exactly. Banter aside, he had no reason not to trust his captain. If he dealt with that then it was a good pass and playing out from the back.

The good news is I don't think we can play any worse.

We need to start winning the ball back though, tackles and interceptions so far:

    AWB 5
    Maguire 0
    Lindelof 1
    Dalot 1
    Casemiro 2
    Eriksen 1
    Sabitzer 1
    Antony 2
    Sanch 1
    Martial 0
