Bollocking about fluently.
Can be brought in cheap as his contract with Leipzig is running out (or he has a release clause or something) - relatively young only 23 years old - definitely a class act on paper at least his stats for both club and country are decent and also - a Manchester United supporter who apparently dreams of playing in the Premier League for Manchester United. Haven't seen much of him though - fairly unrated as far as I'm concerned but from the few appearances I've witnessed he seems fairly clinical and also able to keep a cool head in the final third (wasn't really focused on him though admittedly) - and besides the stats these are all based om media who we know to be somewhat sensationalist. Any thoughts?

I’d take any half decent striker who wants to play for us at this rate.
 
He is really good on FIFA like 4 seasons into CM. Cant really say that I have seen enough of him to properly judge how good he is though.

But considering the fact that a barrel full of rotten fish will outscore Rashford, and hold the ball up better, I reckon he will be worth a try. Get him!
 
Of the ones linked with us he's the only one I kind of like.

I was impressed by him during the qualifier today - he showed both composure and intelligence after being brought on and took his goal in fashion. However - it was a German international fixture - and it's incredibly hard to judge players individually in those because... Well they're Germany there's so much quality overall and it's such a well-oiled machinery I'm pretty sure that team could make anyone look good. But yeah. I'm kind of sold on him too based on what little I've seen (all international fixtures I've never witnessed him play for his club) and if these stories are all true. He sure as Hell looks a huge upgrade from what we have at least.

Werner has many qualities but I wouldn't say his finishing is one of them. He can be rather hectic in front of goal and his shots aren't necessarily precise or smart. He's not really a sublte finisher but likes to smash it once he's one on one against the keeper. However, he gets on the end of many chances usually because of his great work ethic. Honestly, the guy has an engine to admire. Few players I've seen make offensive and at times even defensive runs in the late phases of a match like he does. His pace is also amazing. He's a high risk high reward player. Often kicks the ball too much in front of him or his touch seems a bit off but that's usually because he tries to accelerate as much as possible. He loses the ball much because of it but on the flipside it also pays off.

Still not convinced he's a striker, though. Sometimes I think he's got all he needs to play there but then again it seems to me he's a wide player that poses a great goal threat. Hard to compare him with other players, really. Bale maybe, at least in dribbling style, though Bale has a cleaner shooting and crossing technique and is also a better header.

Not sure he's what you need, in all honesty. I'm sure you guys would love him but then again you've aready got three very fast attackers with Rashford, James and Martial. Maybe you rather need to complement their skill set.

We need a lot of things - but up front we are totally lacking in creativity and cohesion. We lack "the glue" if you know what I mean - we are in dire need of someone with decent skills and intelligence pretty much - who can both create space for others and also exploit it themselves. Who knows an opportunity when they see one and has the guts to take advantage. Being able to hit the open net would also be an advantage - perhaps even score on a penalty. The ones we have now can't even get that part right :lol:
 
Timo Werner would improve our attack, I would improve our attack and I’m 46. We need some magic which Rashford and Martial are not providing.
 
I've never have been impressed with him...I always look at his stats and whilst he's scoring goals but every time I watch him he's very hit and miss and was shocking with Germany during the World Cup

Maybe I'm just a jinx on him :wenger:
 
I thought he was Bayern bound already? Plus weren't there links with Liverpool as well for a while? I imagine if Liverpool want him, Klopp will find a way to make the front 3 a front 4

I don't think he's the player to link up others. He has great runs and creates space, that's true, but he's not really a creator. His passing really isn't anything special and so is his close control. But once he gets space, he can really hurt you. Not the kind of player you give the ball and expect him to do something special or create an opportunity. He needs the game to be in motion. Someone that sets him up or a successful tackle high up the pitch so that you can get in front of the goal with a few passes/touches.

That's also why Bayern aren't too keen on him. Many think he doesn't fit their playing style. I think even possession-based teams have room for one or two players of Werner's style but in a intense pressing and quick transition team, he can be world class. A typical Klopp player through and through.
 
He scores goals, 30m is peanuts. Sign him (apparently he’s already pre signed Bayern though]
 
I think he's an improvement on what we have, albeit not a massively different type of player. He will suffer from having no one to create chances for him. Although he would immensely improve our pressing and might actually bother his arse trying to get on the end of some of the balls across the 6 yard box that our "strikers" like to ignore. £30m is well worth a punt.

In all honesty I don't think Rashford and Martial are the main contributors to our current crisis - more the likes of Lingard / Mata and Fred / Matic. It's usually those guys holding us back and disrupting play. If we got a decent striker we could move Rashford out on the right with James staying left and Martial center - then drop Lingard altogether - make him a rotation option providing him with some spare time to focus on his hip-hop career or whatever. Also - we'd finally be able to retire Mata before his beard starts rooting and we see more of him pop up across the field because I'm telling you that would be any groundsman's worst nightmare right there. Then we'd just need a proper midfielder or two so that Fred and Matic could do... Whatever the feck it is Fred and Matic does only somewhere else :lol:

An improvement, he’s a goalscorer. We would be so much better with someone who knows where the net is. 30m was a bargain, I don’t think that is the price now unfortunately.

I believe it is. His contract was running out so he signed a new one with a low £30m release clause.

A lot of questions and answers to yourself, I’m half cut but I’m gonna say Timo Werner would be a huge improvement on what we have.

Yeah that's what I read too they just wanted to make sure he didn't go anywhere for free. Also he snubbed Bayern in favor of this deal so there might be hope at least.

Yeah sorry when I'm feeling enthused my posts sometimes bare more resemblance to a nosedive into the deep end of a disturbed mind than anything coherent - but I feel there's a good idea in there somewhere :rolleyes:

If it’s true we should have got him in the summer even if it differentiated from his value. Apparently Bayern want him now so we’re fecked unless we throw the wheelbarrow at him.
 
I think he's similar to Martial and Rashford in that his best quality is his pace, and we need to address our midfield (where we have one star we're about to lose in Pogba, a promising winger in James and a solid backup CM in McTominay, which is to say we're fecked and we need 3-4 quality players) to get players like that chances. Leipzig have Forsberg and Sabitzer and they'd help us more than another speedy finisher who can't create for others or hold up the ball or link up well.

He scores goals, club or country. We need players like that not martial and his ability, not Rashford and his locality and potential.

Not a United supporter. He only said playing for PL is a dream. The EPL clubs he watched a lot when he was kid were Manchester United & Liverpool but he would rather chose United over the others. He said that in 2017/2018 season.

What interesting about Werner is that his playing style is exactly what I always hope Rashford to become. Someone who can score with both feet & header, someone with great movement and know how to utilise his acceleration & speed. He runs, shoot & score. Simple. He’ll be a great addition for £26m fees.

Last summer we had competition with Bayern, I can see why we couldn’t get him last summer. May be this January we have a better chance if Ed is doing his research. But Timo also said he needs to improve his English.

Ah okay... Well nothing's changed since then so I guess... We're screwed aren't we? :lol: Nah... Liverpool won't be chasing him. I can't see why - unless they do it just to annoy us at least.

He speaks the ultimate language in football. The back of the net, we need that more than anything currently. Our joint top scorers last month was a penalty taker and a header from a midfielder with one each.
 
After seeing a handful of games with him both at club level and national, he's not in any way shape or form a clinical striker. I think Haland is the best pure striker on the market, is dangerous with his all round game and has more in his arsenal to succeed in the league.
