REVEALED: SPURS SONGS FOR SOL

The pressure on Portsmouth to make a formal complaint to the FA about the abuse Sol Campbell was subjected to by Tottenham fans at Fratton Park this weekend has increased after the wording of the taunts he suffered was published.

As yet, neither the FA, the police nor Pompey have proved willing to take action about the abuse.

The Hampshire constabulary claim that despite the behaviour of the Tottenham supporters clearly - and loudly - transgressing laws regarding public disorder, they refused to act at the time because so many supporters were taunting Campbell.

They claimed that because it was happening on such a large scale, they feared dangerous reprisals could follow any police action against individuals at that time.

It has now been revealed that the most widespread chant sung by Tottenham fans about Campbell ran as follows:

Sol, Sol, wherever you may be,

Not long now til lunacy,

And we couldn't give a f***,

When you're hanging from a tree,

Judas **** with HIV.

Portsmouth have refused to make a complaint to the FA - merely stating that they would "help" and "support" the defender if he sought action - and without one the governing body are powerless to lay a charge against Tottenham.

 Quality song in my opinion!!

Don't see much wrong with that.... i mean they let people off when they sing about Heysel, Busby Babes, etc...

Exactly. And its not really fair on the club if they get punished over a song sung by a few thousand fans. Dont see much of a way of stopping it really. And you're right, a lot worse has been sung.

Disgraceful song, especially the tree part. Something must be done about it.

It's a football song, they're not particularly PC.

He moved from Spurs to Arsenal, did he not expect some stick?

When you're hanging from a tree,

probably not intended but that lines does have racist connotations, given the history of lynching ditties. Add the HIV stuff and it's a pretty unpleasant song all round.

I thought Sol was being a bit of a baby but that type of abuse is not really on.

In fairness thats bad craic. The reference to hanging from a tree is KKK shit & thats terrible. Next they'll be buring crosses in his front garden!

I met a few "Yids" in Sinnotts Bar in Dublin one Saturday afternoon watching Arsenal & Spurs - fecking mental cases they were. They were braggin about the shit they get up to & what they'd do if they were in London after the game. They're barred from 5 miles of White Hart Lane & have served prison sentences for hooliganism - bad bunch of cnuts - say the wrong thing & your a dead man!

What I couldnt understand (apart from Chineses writing) was that one of the geeza'a was a black man but yet he still taunted Adaybayor with racist slurs. They are proper National Front cunto's - regardless of race - they'll taunt & beat the shit out of ya!

it's an awful chant and shouldn't go on -but the thing is how can you punish the spurs fans for wanting to hang a man in song and wishing aids on him, it doesn't actually say anything about him being black or gay so it's not actually racist or homophobic despite the fact that it more thgan likely is. Very tricky to go legal ... because to do that you have to take the chant on an even deeper than literal level and not as a way to wind him up ... and then you could spend forever interpreting football chants ... was the pool fans chant at Goodison a confession? Do you ban pool fans who revel in the Munish deaths or our fans who slag the scousers ? I would have no problem either way but it's all or nothing.

"Are ya Dogtanian in disguise - are you Dogtanian in d-i-s-g-u-i-s-e?" :)

Didn't UEFA recently order a team to play all their home matches in an empty ground?

I'm not sure about that

It's a nasty little number but the tree is a reference to Judas hanging himself. Spurs' fans may be cnuts but they're not racist cnuts in my experience.

I am not sure if they are being racist about him. Their things against him are usually homophobic rather than racist (hardly a moral highground though).

Sol is never going to be accepted by the Spurs fans because of what he did and the way he went about it. A few years back he said its time for Spurs fans to get over it but he has never even bothered trying to explain himself on his move to Arsenal.

They're obviously talking about suicide.

Just because Pompey bought a sensitive little flower of a defender who has randomly walked off during a match because he couldn't handle the pressure of a random home league game, that doesn't mean opposition supporters should be prohibited from winding him up.

So much for the Arse on here claiming he could hear on his TV the "gay" chant.

He screwed Spurs over, a double whammy, by leading them on about he willing to stay, only to feck off on a free transfer, leaving spurs with no transfer fee for his move, and to rub salt into the wounds, he went to arsenal.

Did he expect anything less?

Sol Homo.

If they punished one set of fans for this sort of thing, then there'd be calls for consistency.

This would be dreadful.

Don't worry about consistency from the FA, they have no understanding of it

I'm mostly amused.

Not so much by the song, but by some people's reaction to it.

It's not racist, nor is it threatening. So why make a fuss? If so, why not call them up on singing about "Have you ever seen Sol Campbell with a bird?"

Why not stop the Chelsea fans singing anti-semetic songs, why not stop Ipswich and Norwich fans singing to each other about inbreeding? Why not stop us singing about Liverpool being thieves, or about Park eating dogs?

Some of you lot need to get a fecking grip. When I go to games, if I don't like songs I don't sing them. I wouldn't stop others doing the same though, it's their call and all this poncy censorship will end the atmosphere full stop.

That reminds me, does anyone know if Park has actually eaten dog? He might have, he might not have. Just curious.

Its not clever, the hanging from a tree is more linked to being a Judas, as Judas hung himself from a tree after his betrayal.

The HIV is like saying a wish you die, which is as good a a curse which is not on.

Damn! thats freaking insane:lol: but his Judas ways asked for it

It's a fecking horrid song. Partisan ties aside cast aside; if you look from a human perspective it is nasty. Something strong should be done to send out a message.

You can't condone it by saying that songs are sung about Hillsbrough, Heysel, Munich etc. It is ALL wrong.

It's part of football. If you want a sterile environment play it on the PS3 or something.

I'm sure the gay people at the games feel the same way...

Just being Devils Advocate but noone has actually taken that into account... Rimaldo would not be pleased.

Where do you draw the line?

What's acceptable for some people isn't for others. I just think that although some of the abuse isn't accepted by a lot of people the atmosphere would be poorer without it, and the emotions it envokes.
