Television Stephen King's The Stand

Watched the first epidoe and was then confused by the beginning of the second. Is it worth sticking with? I've not read the book.

Haven't seen it yet, StarzPlay is another £5 on top of Prime so feck that. I'll wait until every episode has been released then binge it on the free trial if its reviews are decent.

It can't be any worse than that 90s abomination.
I enjoyed it in my youth but rewatching it years later was a painful experience. Hated the guy that played Randall Flagg. Decent soundtrack, mind.
If it's anything like The Outsider, I'll pass. Stephen King doesn't really do endings.
This has possibly the worst ending of all. I hope they've changed it up somehow.

The ending is fine to me, and what happens in Vegas (which isn't the ending) is completely in keeping with the rest of the novel/miniseries. It's pretty coherent for Stephen King, to be honest, but at least he knows his endings are generally shit.

I'm waiting for all episodes to be out and then I'll report one of the torrents I find.

I know that King has written a new ending for the series which is changed from the book, so that intrigues me. Although I personally recognise King as the master of the anti climax, he got the ending pretty spot on in this particular book.

Loved the book so will give this a go at some stage. It better be good.

Edit: After watching the trailer, I'm not sure I'll bother. Looks shite

Nothing is worse than The Dark Tower ending

a lot of his earlier books had decent endings I thought

of the more recent stuff, the Under the Dome ending was pretty crap

Was that Aliens were behind it ? He seems to do that a lot

11.22.63 ending was good from what I remember

The ending of the 7th book? I loved it. :D
With the Dark Tower it was more the entirety of books 5 and 6 and most of 7 that were terrible.

This not one of King’s stories where I had a problem with the ending.

As for this show, I got 2 free episodes on Prime that I went through just because of the source material...I’m not eager to seek out the rest.

What else was he supposed to do? He can't re-write actual history. The whole book was tremendous.

Under the dome on the other hand was a fantastic book complete destroyed by a truly terrible ending.
I don't really know what he could have done to make the ending better. But "saves the day only to have to reset the whole thing again" was really bad. For me anyway.

Although it was a very good book up until that. Maybe he should have just have him disappear and leave it at that.

It's been too long since I've read Under the Dome, I can't remember anything about it.

I'm sticking with it because I love the book, m-o-o-n, LOVE.

Not really the first time he did that. He is a great writer but just cannot write a good ending.

When you writing a work of fiction with time travel involved you can pretty much do whatever ending you want

Even the Green Mile's ending was a let down

Just googled it there. Getting terrible reviews on google alone. 2.1 out of 5.

Just watched the first 2 episodes. Got to say I really liked them.
