The true north.
Wanted them in the final so they could be eviscerated by an Arsenal team currently firing on all cylinders.

But this works quite well also :)

feck that, all we'd have heard in the run up would have been how it's his day, this result is perfect.
Oh I dunno... how about if they'd reached the final, Liverpoo had played very well but had been 1-0 down from the third minute, then SupermanStevieG had been brought on at 65 minutes to "turn it around", only to miss a last-minute penalty (and do that bloody frown he does when he's missed from 25 yards yet again) and lose the final.... That would have been sweet.

I prefer this. Let him fade into nothingness with a whimper. Scumbag.

That would of been amusing, but the run up from now until the final we would have had him shoved down our throat every day, and about how he deserve to win the cup as his final act in English football etc.; it would have been unbearable IMO.

Oh I don't disagree; the StevieG media love-in is mystifying. Especially if you agree that he's an unpleasant thug whose presence in the England squad was poisonous.

Yep, the weird obsession of playing him & Lampard in preference to Scholes was just utterly mystifying.

[/IMG] Not an official account or anything, but brilliant nonetheless.

:lol::lol:

This is comedy gold. To have pre-scheduled that announcement before the game shows such contempt for Villa to be unbelievable. That fact that this came back to bite them in the butt is just hilarious.

That's a parody account. Their official account is @ LFC.

I'm sure a lot of the media had pre-scripted articles and build up to the cup final should Gerrard have made it. It would have been a big sell for them.

Shame.

When Paul Scholes was 34, he scored the winner in the Champions League Semi Final against Barcelona to take us to the final.

When Steven Gerrard was 34, he got sent off after 45 seconds against us, then got out played in the FA Cup Semi Final by Tom Cleverley.

Hopefully this will end the debate that Gerrard was ever remotely close to Scholes.

Serious question to United fans.

Could you ever have hoped for Stevie G to bow out in such a comical fashion? ie slipping to blow Liverpools best chance of a title in over 20 years, sent off after mere seconds on the pitch in his last game vs United, anonymous and defeated in an FA cup semi final against Aston Villa.

It's hard not to chuckle.
