Summer 2021 - we have to spend!!!

Agreed, feel like we were all saying this last summer too though
We were... and we made a feckin mess of it. We didn’t strengthen the starting 11 whatsoever, just the bench.

This summer we HAVE to make a statement and get 1 marquee name, then with whatever we have left we need to work some magic and help fill the holes at CB, DM, RW (assuming the Marquee name is a striker.)

A DM is right up there as one of the priorities imo, it’s the position where we can make the most progress on the pitch from here onwards.

I hope this is not one of those classical cheap summers by the Glazzers when we dont spend after comfortably getting top 4.
Then when we don’t make further progress people will be blaming the manager, just like how people forget that last summers window was totally wasted.

We have pretty much the same situation as last year.
Much improved team but know that we need 2 serious signings to really make us contenders.

Will covid be used as the excuse why we can't spend big like we didn't last year though?

If we buy a couple of youth teamers and another Van Beek waste of a not exactly small fee it'll be breathtakingly confusing.

If we get both Rice and Sancho we have had a great summer. More likely it will be Sancho and Trippier. Might get Varane or Kulusevski if Pogba wants out.

More likely it'll be a youth teamer you've never heard of and Tripper.
Or signing Cavani on for another year heralded as a big signing.

With an international tournament summer and a year of lost income with covid, I'm baffled why anyone thinks we'll break our usual 40-60m net spend.
Although there will be silly threads where people think we'll make 80m of sales, and instead we'll raise about 10m from Lingard and not much else.

Yes a crucial summer. Squad is balanced quite well and some good recruitment puts us in a really good place.
