The teams do go up the Wembley steps and winner lifts the shield. Can't remember if they get medals.

Mourinho counts it as a trophy and that's good enough for me.;)
Foreign managers to England usually treat it seriously because they think it's equivalent to super cup in other countries. It actually should be, no idea why England don't make it more serious and an actual trophy instead of this 'shield'.

If they insist on taking this match to a different continent then surely NYC would be a better choice given the large Italian expat community there?

It's all about the €€€. The saudis forked out stupid money to get to host the game

And btw, it's not really any different than the community shield. Nobody really gives a shit about the trophy. The fact the FIGC has been whoring it out to the highest bidder for 25 years should've made it clear

It's not much different in spain either. The value of the cup is in the teams that play for it. Supercups in general are nothing more than glorified friendlies
