BBC says the death was the passenger not anyone else. Maybe the driver/passenger were the targets?

Oh I took it to be a suicide bomb and only the attackers were killed and hurt.

Maybe I've misunderstood

Three men have been arrested under the Terrorism Act after a man was killed in a car explosion outside Liverpool Women's Hospital.
Count-terrorism police said the men - aged 29, 26 and 21 - had been held in connection with the incident which happened just before 11:00 GMT.

The passenger of the car - said to be a taxi - was declared dead at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
The male driver was injured and is in hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives from Counter Terrorism Police North West said they were continuing to "keep an open mind about the cause of the explosion" and were working with Merseyside Police as the investigation continued "at pace".
Liverpool Women's Hospital said visiting access had been restricted "until further notice" and patients had been diverted to other hospitals "where possible".

People on Twitter saying it was a female suicide bomber in a taxi and the driver realised what was going on so locked her inside the vehicle.

Nah its totally unclear at this point. Taxi could have been target, or the passenger could have been a terrorist using a normal taxi and the bomb went off too early, or both driver and passenger could be terrorists. Guess we'll learn more soon.

Hope so, that'd be absolutely heroic from the driver. And obviously the only dead being the bomber.

Though if that is what happened then the intent was to suicide bomb a fecking hospital.

From what I've seen, which could be bullshit, it sounds like a suicide bomber got in a taxi headed to the Remembrance Day parade in Liverpool. The taxi driver clocked they were dodgy and pulled in to the Women's Hospital, got out and locked the doors, at which point the bomb went off and injured the driver but not lethally.

If that's true he's saved many lives that man.

Incredible presence of mind from the driver.

Other stories suggesting the passenger asked to divert after getting stuck in traffic, because the bomb was going off at a set time no matter what, and taxi driver got out because they were acting odd, but didn't realise what was happening. Either way, that's enough rumours, but it looks like something really bad was narrowly avoided today.

Still, good safety instinct, the danger was contained it seems

Especially when you consider the other three who were arrested

Everything we know after taxi explosion at Liverpool Women's Hospital leads to terror arrests
Three men were arrested under the Terrorism Act after one man died and another man was injured in a car explosion at Liverpool Women's Hospital.

Emergency services were called to the hospital's car park following reports of an explosion on Sunday morning.

The incident sparked significant police activity across the city, with specialist officers - including armed police - involved in operations near Sefton Park and in Kensington, the area in which the suspects were arrested.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were supported by a bomb disposal unit as they were dispatched to the Women's Hospital after receiving reports of the explosion at 10.59am.

So two places along with the actual bomb.

Do you think it's a cell operation? (I may have watched too much Homeland)

Any idea which extremist nutjob ideology these guys are following?
