Telegraph issues a apology to Solskjaer!

The telegraph have written a article to issue an open apology to Old for undermining his ability as a manager.

Just seen this on Twitter and thought I ll share it here. Are the MSM coming to realise that Ole is not just managing on Vibes? Or are the knives gonna come out bigger and sharper when we hit the next slump?

 
Fair play, most journalists would just pretend they never said anything negative in the first place.

Ole’s been doing an excellent job and it’s been obvious for a long time imo.
 
About time. The shit he got/gets was a disgrace. These hacks said Arteta was an elite manager and Ole isn’t half as good as him. feck off.
 
I don't even remember what he said, but just goes to show the ridiculous agenda against him while bigging up the likes of Poch, Arteta, Lampard, etc

Losing EL Final can easily cause that this season and pressure of next season to challenge City will cause another wave of criticism. Fate of every manager in a big club at this point.
 
I was definitely Ole out earlier in the season, but he's turned it around massively in the last 4/5 months and it's been brilliant to watch.
I trust him to complete the rebuild job and have us as title contenders next season.
 
Articles in the Times and Guardian are including similar comments today. There has obviously been a 'union' meetingof the journos as they realise their campaign wasn't working. So now they will damn him with faint praise, waiting for the day when they can say 'told you so'. No United manager gets an easy ride, Ole won't be fooled.

It's not actually the Telegraph apologising though, is it? It reads like an article by a Telegraph journalist that happens to have "we owe you an apology" as the headline. When I saw "The Telegraph issues an apology" I thought it was something more significant as that implies the paper itself did something wrong.
 
I was Ole in for long before being Ole out when we crashed out of the CL group stage. He has definitely proven me wrong.

Long may our progress continue. The beauty of his style is to build on what the club already had and making small but continuous improvements. Modern managers raze everything from the previous regime to the ground in order to mould the team completely to their philosophy and playing style.

Ole on the other hand definitely cares for our future - a future when he isn’t manager and hence makes long term decision.

He is also excellent in managing change. Soft Skills that people don’t give credit for.

The bolded is tough. A title challenge is the next natural step if Ole is really bringing us back but I still think it is a big ask as I expect renewed Chelsea and Scouse challenges while City have it in them to get stronger still. I don't know by what yardstick I'll be measuring Ole next year as I could honestly see us eight or nine points off the top having had a strong league season.

The rest I agree with wholeheartedly, and I'll happily join the Telegraph (bleurgh) to offer Ole an apology.

Ole's next real test
 
I don’t care what the media says, Fergie’s abilities were questioned many times too (“shredding his legacy at every turn”).

He should get more respect from United fans though.
 
Article doesnt really mention the clear out he has done since he arrived. He got rid of Fellaini within three weeks of taking the job on caretaker role. He deserves huge credit for that.

If Ole wins the league next season would it be more satisfying than our win in 2007? Probably and that was very satisfying.

Can i ask what has made you change your mind? Is it results? performances? seeing the harmony in the team? Or a combination?
 
Nice little article that, shame supporters of the club he manages are too ignorant to do the same
 
Not sure about this line of argument though. Surely the first half performances equally either demonstrate the players don't listen and react to Ole or the plan wasn't working so they had to change it at half-time?
To underline the point, simply look at the contrast in performances in first and second halves this season: based purely on the opening 45 minutes of games, United would be 13th this season; on the second 45, they are comfortably top.

True, this also suggests United are starting games too slowly, but it emphasises that when Solskjaer and his coaching staff speak to the players, they listen and react. It is compelling evidence of good player relationships.

Paul Ince has been one of Ole's biggest critics. Must be worst pundit out there.

Once Ole signed the new contract extension after exceeding expectations, instead of putting his hand up to admit he's been clueless all along, Ince comes out with some garbage that Bruce or Mark Hughes would have achieved more than Ole by now. The man does not live on the same planet as everyone else.

You're right - expecting a title challenge is probably too soon, but we've established that we are a top 4 team in the country, the next step is to close the gap & separate us from the rest.
What I would want is for us to go further in Europe - QF's is attainable, and reach a domestic cup final, while finishing top 3.
I think we're about 4/5 players (first XI & squad) from really going toe to toe with City & the best in Europe, that's still about 2 years away.

Mainly performances - one of my biggest criticisms was that particularly early on the season we looked clueless in attack, and toothless in defence. We were scoring and winning, but by the end of the match I would feel relief, that we managed to get through it, rather than elation for example.

The biggest difference now is that I no longer feel worried that we're going to lose a match, nor do I feel like we won't create chances even if we go a goal down - I haven't felt that way since SAF.
 
I still worry about our ceiling with Ole but I would be a fool to not acknowledge how much good work he has done.

One of the biggest confidence boosts for me in him was when he gave the number 1 to Henderson after seeing the difference he makes. That can be a tricky situation and easy to stick with the experienced legend in DDG. He has handled it well.
